The Leftovers #305: ‘It’s A Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt World’ Artwork

What an awesome way to close Matt's arc by giving him the opportunity to talk to God. David Burton (a.k.a. God) keeps asking him: why? why? why? and Matt tries to hold on to his faith, only to realized that everything he's done, he did it for himself. He only wanted God's attention, he was selfish with his own religion.  It's this the end of Matt's faith? It's this the end of Matt or did God cure him? Is God dead?

Que gran manera de cerrar el arco del personaje de Matt dándole la oportunidad de hablar con Dios. David Burton (ó Dios) pregunta y repregunta: ¿por qué?  ¿por qué? ¿por qué? y Matt trata de aferrarse a su fe, sólo para darse cuenta que todo lo que hizo, lo hizo por si mismo. Quería tener la atención de Dios, fue egoísta con su propia religión. ¿Es este el fin de la fe de Matt?¿Es este el fin de Matt o Dios lo curó?¿Dios está muerto?

The Leftovers #304: ‘G’Day Melbourne’ Artwork

Nora and Kevin arrived to the airport and the officer ask: 'you two together?' and that's a question that hunt the relationship during the whole episode. As they go their separate ways in this episode we realized that Nora is always leaving Kevin behind, is like she already knew they were over. Kevin finally is confronted by Laurie  about the real reason he is in Australia. He's behind a relationship that already departed.

Cuando Nora y Kevin llegan al aeropuerto, la oficial pregunta ‘¿ustedes dos están juntos?’ y esa es la pregunta que persigue la relación durante todo el episodio. Mientras se separan en el episodio, nos damos cuenta que Nora siempre está está dejando a Kevin atrás. Es como si ella supiera que terminaron. Finalmente Kevin es confrontado por Laurie sobre la verdadera razón por la que está en Australia. Está detrás de una relación que ya desapareció.

The Leftovers #303: ‘Crazy Whitefella Thinking’ Artwork

Who is the protagonist of this story? Kevin Jr. or Kevin Sr.? We know Senior is desperately seeking for purpose, he wants to believe he has the answer to prevent the apocalypse in a tape his son recorded when he was 8 years old. He thinks Junior is part of his story and not the other way around. He even compares Junior with Abraham's son, Isaac from the bible. So could this mean that he will sacrifice his own son in order to save the world? How far will Kevin Sr go for his own beliefs?

¿Quién es el verdadero protagonista de esta historia? ¿Kevin Junior o Kevin Senior? Sabemos que Kevin padre está buscando desesperadamente un propósito. Quiere creer que tiene la respuesta para prevenir el apocalipsis en un cassette que su hijo grabó cuando tenía 8 años. El cree que Junior es parte de su historia y no al revés. Hasta lo compara con el hijo de Abraham, Isaac de la biblia. Entonces esto significa que ¿está dispuesto a sacrificar a su propio hijo para salvar al mundo? ¿Cuán lejos está dispuesto a llegar por sus propias creencias?

In this episode we dig deep into Nora Durst, her grief and her identity. How much lost could she handle? How could she not go insane? Is she 'Nora Kurst'? Can she ever overcome her grief and does she really want to?. Nora is always in this dichotomy of wanting to overcome her lost but at the same time she doesn't want to ever forget it. Every time she thinks she finally did it, grief hunts her in a form of a toy shovel or as a great technology conspiracy. It will be really interesting to see how she became Sarah, how she did it or why?.

En este episodio escarbamos profundo en Nora Durst, su duelo, su identidad. ¿Cuánta pérdida puede manejar? ¿Cómo no volverse loca? ¿A caso está maldita?¿Podrá alguna vez superar su duelo y realmente quiere hacerlo?. Nora siempre es esta dicotomía de quere superar la perdida y al mismo tiempo no olvidar. Cada vez que piensa que superó esto, el duelo la acecha y persigue en la forma de una palita de juguete o en una gran conspiración tecnológica. Será interesante ver como se convierte en Sarah, como lo hizo y por qué?

The Leftovers #301: ‘The Book Of Kevin’ Artwork

The Leftovers resurrects on us for a new compelling season opener and with the ultimate mystery: Is Kevin the Jesus of this story? Can he die? and more importantly: Does he knows and denies it or he refuse to accept his own destiny?. I remember in season 1 when his father told him before The Sudden Departure: '... Every man rebels against the idea that this is f*ckin' it...you have no greater purpose because it is enough' and Kevin Sr. was the chief of police and now 7 years later everything is in reverse. As Damon Lindelof said in an interview, it's kind of like a reverse intervention: Matt, Michael, John, his father, Dean, everybody believe he has a greater purpose, they want him to accept it. And at the end, he choose not to burn the his own book, his own faith in himself. I also love the fact that 'The Book Of Kevin' changes the hole perspective on the entire episode, if you rewatch the scene of the men on the porch a Tom's birthday, knowing the existence of the book, every look, every sentence, the crown in Kevin's head, everything has a new meaning. This is The Leftovers at its best.

The Leftovers resucita en nosotros con un nuevo y espectacular inicio de temporada y con el más grande misterio: Kevin es el Jesus de esta historia? ¿Puede realmente morir? Y más importante aún: ¿Lo sabe y lo niega o rechaza su propio destino? Recuerdo en la temporada 1 cuando su padre le dijo antes de la Partida Repentina: ‘...Cada hombre se rebela ante la idea de que esto es todo...de que no tiene otro propósito porque su vida es suficiente’ y Kevin Sr era el jefe de policía y ahora 7 años después todo está al revés. Como Damon Lindelof dijo en una entrevista, es como una intervención a la inversa. Matt, Michael, John, su padre, Dean, todos creen que el tiene un propósito más grande y quieren que lo acepte. Al final el decide no quemar su propio libro, su propia fe en si mismo. También me encanta que ‘El Libro De Kevin’ cambia la perspectiva de todo el episodio. Si vuelves a ver la escena de los hombres conversando en el porche en el cumpleaños de Tom, sabiendo la existencia del libro, cada mirada, cada oración, la corona de cartón en la cabeza de Kevin, todo tiene un nuevo significado. Esto es The Leftovers en su mayor expresión.
