honestly, the korean honorific situation aside, the exodus admins aren't the best i've seen and i had a pretty bad time there with them. i was there from opening and left some time ago, and while most of the people were pretty great, i didn't like how they handled things at all

do you have any tips to try and help them improve/let us know why u think this ?

I think it’s also worth it to mention these people are usually rping in english and adding on random korean terms, and that’s along the same lines of a weeaboo calling some random Japanese person senpai. It’s weird and uncomfortable.

thank u for answering! but i think thats what rly confuses me - that it seems like its totally impossible to use terminology/honorifics without being disrespectful. yes, if u take it out of context and make light of those terms, even ic, that would be unacceptable. but what if you did your research & wrote it in the proper context (and appropriately for ur muse’s bg)? is it still just wrong, point blank, for the muse to do so, as long as the mun themself isnt asian?

to the anon who was in exodus for one day but apparently knows which muns are korean and which are not (hi! korean mun!) - i have been there for weeks. i have seen someone on the TL use korean honorifics MAYBE 4 times. this one salty anon is sending the same message to every rpt blog with no proof of any claims and it's unfair to just take their word for it, especially when they are outright admitting to being there a few hours at most.

u got a point there when it comes to them not knowing who's korean or not i must admit, but u just confirmed there are ppl who do it so ig there's ur proof. ppl do it and it makes others uncomfortable

sorry if this is a stupid q but could u explain to me why “if ur not asian and are gonna play a kpop fc do it respectfully and dont use their terminology”? i just feel like a lot of asian muses are written to be immigrants, some of whom might b bilingual and would actually speak the language. or by “not using their terminology” do u mean just ooc bc i totally get that

its not stupid at all dw! i would like to put put a disclaimer that i am NOT asian, but i have talked about this topic with a couple of asian friends in the past and they've helped me build an opinion on this topic. aside from that, i am also going to check in w them before posting this to see if they have anything they'd like me to add.

i know many muses are written to be immigrants, but it is still p weird to adopt their cluture's own words if you're not actually asian. i think playing an asian fc as someone who's not asian themselves shouldn't be a problem if you do it respectfully and are mindful of certain lines one should not cross, in this case one of those lines being the usage of asian terminology/honorifics. not only do u look like a bit of a kboo or any of those things, but because multiple people from the rpc who are actually asian have expressed discomfort with people doing this.

please remember to be mindful of other people's cultures and keep on reading and learning about this stuff, talk to actual people from the asian community and stay respectful whenever you play any other fcs that are not the same ethnicity as you and have a complex culture behind them!!
