Lots of Chinese LU fans read Jojo’s comics and other fanfics using a translator.

Time is generally translated into 《Time》 (the magazine!!)

And Twilight is translated into 《The City of Twilight》 (the vampire franchise!)

And Wild is generally translated into FERAL as in barbaric 😶‍🌫️

Little random anecdote:

When I first started reading Linked Universe fanfics my english was terrible (It's not like much has changed either jsjajsjajsa), so I used Google Translate to read the stories.

The thing is, the translator isn't accurate at all, so it translated "vet" (Veteran, Legend's nickname) as "veterinarian" in spanish. So I was confused all this time because he kept being called "veterinario" but I didn't see him doing veterinarian stuff other than turning into a pink bunny.

I also didn't remember him being a veterinarian in the games, to add to the confusion. I realized much later. I'm not very smart :)

Retired Assets One Year Anniversary DTIYS! 🎨

I started playing with this story idea in March, 2024. In the same month, I decided to do Retired Assets illustrations primarily in this black-and-white style. The first chapter was published on May 26, 2024. By the end of the first act, the story will probably hit 30,000 words! I cannot thank you enough for your support of my first fanfic (also first fic written in English) and my art.

To celebrate having posted more than 100+ entries — art, memes, and chapters combined— I am launching a Do This In Your Style (DTIYS) challenge!

I invite you to draw “Cursed Victorian Child ™️” Ravio in your style. The illustration below is the title art for the Act 1 Finale (Act 1 Scene 8, or Ch. 9 on Ao3).

📃Visual description of the illustration:

This is a black and white illustration in the style of a paper cut or woodblock print. The composition shows two figures: Ravio and the shadow of Sheerow.

Ravio is in a three-quarter angle, as if he’s turning his head to look directly at the viewer. His right eye is covered by a tight bandage. His expression is neutral given the stylization, but there is a touch of melancholy or introspection. His dark sideburns lift slightly, as if blown by the wind. The lower part of his body is not clearly visible. It blends into stylized flames that rise around him, making it hard to tell where his body ends and the fire begins.

hi, i just want to let you know that your black & white art style is INCREDIBLE. it’s so amazing how your illustrations are so detailed, without being convoluted. when drawing with limited colors things could meld together and be hard to understand, but your lines/shape placement and composition avoid that entirely by smartly separating all the elements of a piece. not only is that an impressive skill, but also your compositions in general are so beautiful and emotional. i’m blown away by your skill and all the thought put into your art. i’m beyond impressed, this message isn’t explaining it properly but i really love your stuff ❤️

Sorry that it took me so long to respond. Your words are so kind, so gentle and so caring, and they leave me in a fluffy and warm kind of feeling that I cannot quite articulate. I am very grateful for everything you have said, and not only that, I am grateful to you for walking the extra mile to write those compliments down and send them to me. There is no way for me to quantify and document how much motivation your words are giving me, but please know that I feel so loved and it is thanks to your kindness.

Your art has been a constant inspiration to me. I love your colored pencil drawings, and your skill in blending those creamy colors so seamlessly together in elegant patterns that enhance your composition. I am not a confident user of colors myself, but seeing your techniques of stylization and their absolutely breathtaking results has inspired me to try and experiment. There is a glorious kind of whimsy to your art. They are not mere illustrations in the sense that they are images to complement words, but they are worlds and poetry in themselves, and they speak volumes for themselves. Retired Assets Rambling… I’m almost done with the Act 1 finale so I’m writing some random late night thoughts… may contain spoilers.

This is a story with a main cast of two guys and a bird (note 1: spoiler). Zelda and Hilda (our two princesses) will join the conversation midway through Act 2. Yes, the story is driven by a mystery, and yes, it calls for courage and discovery—but not in the typical LU/LoZ quest sense. Ravio hasn’t even left the house 23,000 words in. It’s more of a psychological journey (or even psychological horror in the early drafts). The characters are working to uncover truths about themselves and each other, facing the desires and fears that drive them, and learning to stand up to those shifting wants and dreads as situations change.

I’m trying to write Ravio a bit differently in this story. I know it’s not the most common or popular depiction of him, but I want to push his arc further. My intention is to write angst/whump that doesn’t simply happen by accident, but through Situations™ driven by human choices.

Which brings me to another point: this story is a tragedy. Everyone is flawed. Except Zelda. She’s a certified therapist. But being kind can still cause harm sometimes, right? Well, we’ll have to wait and see.

It took me almost a year to write Chapters 1-5 and 1-6. Parts of this story are challenging to choreograph, and sometimes real life gets overwhelming. Still, I’ve worked out all the major plot points, and I fully intend to finish this story to the best of my ability.

I have always loved the cane of Byrna. What a magical item! Protection and attack in one!

Here's my take on a younger Legend with the Cane of Bryne during his first dungeon crawling days~ I always see younger Legend drawn in his green tunic but never his blue tunic from ALTTP. If it wasn't for his pink hair, Four could have mistaken this for Blue with that glare of his. Legend means business when solving these puzzles!
