Summary:

Either way, it’s best to find a different patron.” Techno had punched him in the face for that. None of his other comrades ever brought up the Blood God again. Well, except for one. “You follow the Blood God?” the new kid said, staring up at Techno with unbelievably blue eyes. “Yeah,” Techno replied, perhaps a bit gruffer than he meant to, “What’s it to you?” “Nothing!” the new kid said, grinning wildly, “I love that guy. He gets all the ladies. Hey, we should be friends!” Or: Techno is the last devout follower of the Blood God. Tommy may or may not be said god.

Murder Drones fandom minor rant: A dog still has teeth

This is just a minor rant, it is not directed at any one person, just at a very common trope that has started to bother me.

To put it simply; I am sick of seeing people write N as this sweet cinnamon roll from the start who could not kill worker drones. Or that he was bad at hunting. Look at the pilot, N had Uzi dead to rights before she used her gun. He was not hesitating at all. He was very much going to eat her, had she not blasted his head off. Even after he spoke with Uzi AND the WDF (15:02-16:18), he was a-ok with killing 4-5 drones he now knew were sentient. And eating them fresh, too. The reason N switched sides? Because J put a virus on him and left him for dead. Had J gone "Eh, I'll think about it", N would have continued the slaughter with her. Maybe he would not have killed Uzi, but other workers had no such protection. N joined Uzi because he had nothing left to lose. Also, the reason N questioned the mission in the first place? "Hey, maybe the company left us for dead and that kind of sucks." Not "Hey, maybe killing these workers is kind of wrong?" And J, as much as I like her, would have never given N a break. She, after he had gotten into the bunker by his own wits, was still willing to end him the moment he stepped even slightly out of line. The whole point of N in the pilot is that he is both a very efficient killer and a total softie. And those two sides are not in conflict. N learns to treat workers as people because of Uzi, not because he always saw them as people. In order for there to be character growth, there has to be something to grow from.
