° ✧ SUPERHERO SENTENCE STARTERS.
❛ I’m here to fight for truth, and justice, and the American way. ❜ ❛ You wanna get nuts? Come on! Let’s get nuts! ❜ ❛ I hope justice is found here today… before justice finds you. ❜ ❛ Give me a scotch. I’m starving. ❜ ❛ Our ancestors called it magic but you call it science. ❜ ❛ I come from a land where they are one and the same. ❜ ❛ This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I’m _______. ❜ ❛ Cats come when they feel like it. Not when they’re told. ❜ ❛ How am I supposed to tell crime to shut up if I have to shut up? ❜ ❛ I don’t know the meaning of the word “quit”. ❜ ❛ You can’t trap justice! It’s an idea, a BELIEF! ❜ ❛ Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded… ❜ ❛ He may have my soul but he doesn’t have my spirit. ❜ ❛ Didn’t I kill you already? ❜ ❛ Thirty hours of pain all at once, all for you. ❜ ❛ I have something to give you. I don’t want it anymore. ❜ ❛ And some day, when he’s needed, we will see him again. ❜ ❛ Listen to me very carefully, my friend: Killing will not bring you peace. ❜ ❛ Wise man say forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza. ❜ ❛ You get hurt, hurt ‘em back. You get killed… walk it off. ❜ ❛ Some men just want to watch the world burn. ❜ ❛ I believe there’s a hero in all of us. ❜ ❛ Because he’s the hero this city deserves, but not the one it needs right now. ❜ ❛ So, we’ll hunt him, because he can take it. ❜ ❛ With great power comes great responsibility. ❜ ❛ Would you rather die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain? ❜ ❛ That’s kind of catchy. It’s got a nice ring to it. ❜ ❛ You know all those dangerous mutants you hear about in the news? ❜ ❛ Why do we fall, sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up. ❜ ❛ Beneath this mask there is an idea. ❜ ❛ You will give the people an ideal to strive towards. ❜ ❛ They will kill you if they get the chance. Do not give them that chance. ❜ ❛ At least I’ve chosen a side. ❜ ❛ You ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight? ❜ ❛ Oh, no… this is Earth… isn’t it? ❜ ❛ Dead or alive, you are coming with me. ❜ ❛ Sometimes you gotta run before you can walk. ❜ ❛ Let’s put a smile on that face. ❜ ❛ Sorry about the window folks, I kinda misjudged the landing. ❜ ❛ There is you. There is I. There is no we. ❜ ❛ It’s not who I am, but what I do that defines me. ❜ ❛ Peace was never an option. ❜ ❛ You won’t kill me out of some misplaced sense of self-righteousness. ❜ ❛ I think you and I are destined to do this forever. ❜ ❛ Sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. ❜ ❛ You’re making me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry. ❜ ❛ Big man in a suit of amour. Take that off, what are you? ❜ ❛ They can’t be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. ❜ ❛ But you’re a Superhero! They always get the girl, right? ❜ ❛ Aren’t you curious about how I get around so fast? ❜ ❛ That is why I show you my work! That is why you are here! ❜ ❛ You have a knack for saving my life. I think I have a superhero stalker. ❜ ❛ Remember? Your little “accident” in the laboratory…? ❜ ❛ Why didn’t you kill me? I would’ve killed you in an instant. Answer me! ❜ ❛ Remember to chisel that into my tombstone. ❜ ❛ What happened to you? How did you become this? ❜ ❛ No hard feelings, Point Break. You’ve got a mean swing. ❜ ❛ Apparently I’m volatile, self-obsessed, and don’t play well with others. ❜ ❛ You put those people together, you can’t expect what’s going to happen… ❜ ❛ A hero? Like you? ❜ ❛ Put on the suit. ❜ ❛ Have you got a suit? ❜ ❛ Superheroes? In New York? Give me a break! ❜ ❛ The world has gotten even stranger than you already know. ❜ ❛ We will not stand by as evil wipes out billions of innocent lives. ❜ ❛ If we’re gonna work together you might wanna try trusting me a little bit. ❜ ❛ I would be grateful to die surrounded by my friends. ❜ ❛ If you kill me, you’re gonna miss the biggest score you’ve ever seen. ❜ ❛ But everyone has a weakness. And a weakness can be leveraged. ❜ ❛ My job is to keep you alive until you die. You understand that? ❜ ❛ Devils don’t come from hell beneath us. No, they come from the sky. ❜ ❛ Next time they shine your light in the sky, don’t go to it. ❜ ❛ How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way? ❜ ❛ Is it stealing if you steal from another thief? ❜ ❛ Whatever you do, wherever you go, I will be watching you. ❜ ❛ No matter how many times you save the world, it always manages to get back in jeopardy again. ❜

Len just stops himself from flinching at her sudden standing, raising an eyebrow as she moves around the table to sit beside him. She's displaying an unexpected level of trust, and in doing so throwing him off balance again. Her admittance that he annoys her further confuses him, and he waits for her to finish with his brow furrowed.
"Doesn't matter whether you mean it. I don't need help." He doesn't sound as convinced as he would have a moment ago, though, and he's frustrated with himself for it. He has to be more convincing than this. If she figures out something's up, what happens then? He knows it won't be good.

Len's eyes narrowed and he stayed where he was, watching J'onn warily. "Yeah? What'd you do to piss him off?"
Rogues? Cute.
@leonard-snark
J'onn had been observing the men from the shadows, his form of a cat giving him more cover.
They were breaking into the jewelry store, professionals by the looks.
Normally, robberies weren’t his main concern. But when he caught sight of the men’s weapons, the heat and cold guns, he knew he couldn’t just let it go.
He walked up, giving a soft meow for their attention before shifting into his true form. “Are you sure this is what you wish to do with your night?”

Len was suddenly very glad he hadn't gotten any closer to petting the cat than just /thinking/ about it. He tensed, cold gun readied, eying the man.
"You got a problem with that?"
Rogues? Cute.

Len headed into the kitchen, flopping onto a chair. "Fine, I'll wait and you can share that."
He shrugged at the kid's excuse - "I wake up easy."
I’m sorry that I woke you up by setting the smoke alarm off by cooking bacon but I’m definitely not sorry enough to give you any. (theburningthree) (jax)
“You gotta be kidding me.”
Len squinted at Jax tiredly, still in the doorway of the Waverider’s kitchen - he was a very light sleeper, so the sound of the fire alarm had woken him up immediately despite how quickly Jax had silenced it.
“/Least/ you can do is share.”

Len smiled. "That would be good."
As he spoke, he turned from the window, tilting his head again and sizing her up. "Seriously. What's wrong?"
Old Friends
@leonard-snark
Sab looked up at the clock in the diner. Almost noon. Her favorite customer (and possibly favorite person in the whole wide world) always came in around noon. She wasn’t sure what most people’s problems with Len were but she didn’t care. They got along great and he was always honest with her, something she coveted. Which made him the one person in the world who could always make her smile genuinely just by walking in. But today was different. Today was one day she hoped her friend for whatever reason missed his visit today. She wouldn’t be able to hide her feelings well and wasn’t sure how to explain the situation.
So when noon hit and she saw that handsome face and that classic smile of his for once she ddin’t beam like the sun itself had walked in. ‘Hey Len,” she said softly, nothing like her usual musical tone.

"They are?" Len hadn't considered that, not generally assuming that he made a positive impact on anyone's life. He regained his composure, having sounded embarrassingly surprised. "Look, I can't stay in one place too long. With my line of work, it's.. risky."
Sorry
@leonard-snark
“I-” Len cut himself off, taking a minute to attempt to calm down. He was frustrated with himself for whatever he’d done wrong and for the fact that he hadn’t even realised it. “I’m sorry?” He offered.
—
It took her a moment to respond. At least he was sorry even though it looked like he didn’t know what she was talking about. After sighing but still looking pouty she accepted his apology. “I think you forget sometimes that when you leave the city for whatever amount of time that I miss you. Maybe I’m just being too sensitive but everything is easier when I see you everyday. Things are…easier to deal with.”

Len feels a mild satisfaction at her eye roll - this stubbornness at least is getting him somewhere. If she gets annoyed enough, maybe she'll stop pushing.
He appraises her for a minute, considering the question, then shrugs. "Nobody's tried this hard to see me as more than I am before."

Len nodded, taking a couple of steps into the room and looking around. It was certainly more classy than he was used to, and Mick had prepared for the evening too - he noted the beer in the ice bucket quickly.
"I should explain, this probably isn't your.. conventional hiring. I need a diversion. Tonight." He should have explained this outright, but didn't want to leave a record of it in writing or over the phone - better to wait until they were in person. "I was hoping I could pay you to /distract/ someone for me."
@leonard-snark liked for a v: hard edges and tight corners starter:
Mick had been doing this for a very long time, so she had it down to an exact science. Require payment upfront. Pay for the hotel room and put in under her own name. Arrive first. Plant mace and a weapon in a hidden but easy to access location in case of emergency. Request information of the client to be able to tailor tastes.
Mick had picked a hotel that wasn’t too high end, but definitely was very steps above a holiday inn. She wore a simple backless black dress, and had several bottles of beer chilling in the ice bucket. The client had requested the entire night, so she would give him that.
Mick turned her head, perched on the end of the mattress, greeting him, “Evening Leonard. Hope you found the room alright.”
#I hope this is alright!!#i realise this is an unexpected direction#but I think we could do some fun things w it#inlovewiththeflames

Len's not letting his guard down, even if they have moved on to some philosophical conversation about morality. Clearly this woman is smart, and all of her questions are meant to reveal something - he has to stay wary.
He offers her a bland smile at her comment and a shrug. "Fine. I'll give it some thought."
The Good, The Bad, And The Cold
Part 1
Kadence feels like she has hit a road block and hard. Adjusting her neck she rubs at the tender muscles there. She takes a few steps back in their conversation trying to pinpoint where exactly she’d gone wrong. Her eyes slide closed as she thinks a gentle hum escaping her lips in response to her massaging the kink in her neck. Then like the crack of a whip her eyes snap open and she smiles.
It was her guess at what he was guarding. The direction she’d taken had lead to a dead end because it was one. At least in this specific instance. Still, how was she going to steer the conversation back around. “Really? You should give it some thought. Learning about someone’s psyche could prove useful one day in your line of work. Though, I didn’t just admit that.”

"That doesn’t count as a costume, it’s just a parka."
"It's thematically coherent." Len protests, gesturing down at himself. "Cold gun. Parka. It makes sense."

Len grins at the change of topic and the mention of Lisa, which always makes him happier, especially now when it comes with the constant reminder that she's safe and loved and happy.
"Perfect. Did you have a particular shitty movie in mind?"
leonard-snark:
Len nods, relieved - his plan worked, and worked better than he was expecting it to, and now they shouldn’t have to worry about Kate’s team for a while. He can use it if anyone on his side gets suspicious too.
“Mm. I have a legitimate arrow wound now. Not many people get to say that in this day and age.”
“Right? So vintage and in vogue. You’ll be the talk of the town among your criminal compadres.”
She exhales a little laugh, and sits up on the couch.
“I need a drink. I need several. It’s been far too long since I’ve gotten proper white-girl wasted, Len, and I think this is the most fitting occasion for that. Lisa – she’s staying over her friends house tonight, right? So that means the big kids can get wrecked and watch shitty movies.”
