Put your feet down (drafts and a story behind the painting under the cut)

Growing up autistic I was often told to sit proper. Since I was little I sat with my feet on the seat and knees high, like a frog. The position was and is comforting and I feel uncomfortable sitting with my legs on the ground. No matter how I held my utensils and followed the etiquette, I was always sitting wrong. And if I wasn't there was something else I was doing wrong; not holding eye contact, not smiling, not joining in the conversations. I tried my best to act in the correct way, but again and again I was told I was rude or badly mannered.

The toad is holding his utensils in a well mannered fashion. His elbows do not touch the table, as is right. He has a bib around his neck. But still his feet are on the chair and his expression is gloomy. Even though they come with his nature, he is still being scolded. He has a soup bowl in front of him, but he is eating the flies from thw soup instead of the soup itself. That's why the knife and the fork

ive spent the past five days alone with my cats at my family's cottage. Cottage, as im there is no running water, in-door toilet, TV or even a radio. I spent most of the time sketching or writing or playing the guitar or just staring at the lake and I haven't felt this relaxed in such a long time. My cats kept me company by following me everywhere, sleeping when I slept, waking when I woke and staying by my chair when I sat on the porch reading or playing the guitar. I already miss the quiet but tbh a dishwasher and my own desk do feel luxurious. Now we are back home and I'm full of energy to keep focusing on drawing
