What point do you think the author was trying to get across by adding Jem’s paragraph about the half black half white people?
Why do you think Bob’s testimony sounded more planned than Mayella’s?
How do you think Tom’s testimony is going to go? Will it match up?
Based on Judge Taylor’s attitude in the court room, how do you think he will treat the plaintiffs/defendants?
What do you think the outcome of the trial will be judging by how Mayella testified?

so the thing about my family is that we have two ancestors on my dad’s side who were buried in france, where I currently live. one died in the spanish civil war, and one died prior doing…we don’t know what. but he somehow managed to get buried in père lachaise.
so anyhow, my gran sends me a message like “pls put flowers on ur uncle samuel’s grave because he’s gone over a century with none and it will make the ghost mad if he hasn’t already” because my family spends time in europe but never long enough to go all the way to père lachaise and give ya boy samuel jr. his death rites. so im like “ok gran I can do that” bc im a good grandson and you do not fuck with gran she doesn’t DESERVE THAT
i figure out which plot he’s on and ask someone specifically where you can find uncle samuel jr. and they tell me where and so I arrive at the junction and.

Beauty by Lida Magnus
When you Google search beautiful person, a picture of Vanessa Moe - Danish model - comes up. She has a subtle blush, brown eye shadow on her eyelids, filled in eyebrows, and mascara on. She has fair skin, light brown hair, and grey coloured eyes. Is that how we should define beauty?
Because I don’t look like that, does that make me ugly?
Throughout this write-up, I will discuss how makeup, fashion, and the media affect our perceptions of beauty.
When you’re fifteen, all you want to be is pretty. Some days I would look at myself in the face in the mirror and think: “My eyes look bare, my skin is so red, my face is so... round.” I would go to my mom’s bathroom and try to put on eyeliner and conceal and contour my face, but it would look so bad. I had no idea how to do it, put on the makeup. That’s why I took this course, to learn how to be pretty like the girls I see on Instagram (and to get 4 extra credits).
Little did I know, as the course went on, I began to dread putting on makeup more than looking forward to it. I would begin to hate the feeling of foundation, concealer, contour, highlight, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara on my all at once. I hated knowing it was clogging my pores and I was going to wake up the next morning with 3 extra zits. I hated having to take the makeup off, and see all the work I had done be taken away with one cotton pad and a dab of almond oil. I hated having to wash my face three times after the makeup was off, just to make sure I had taken everything off my face. Towards the end, I absolutely loathed it.
The moment I put on the makeup, I couldn’t wait to take it off. I just wanted to be me, not a fake.
I know people who wear makeup aren’t fake, I know that. It’s just fake to me, covering my face with foundation, hiding my breakouts and redness. It’s not showing the true me, it feels like I’m hiding a part me when I’m wearing makeup, or I feel like I’m being dishonest, lying like a fox.
I don’t like lying and hiding things from people. I hate the guilt it comes with.
To turn things positive now, let’s talk about FASHION!!!
I love fashion. Playing dress up is the best game ever. Fashion is the main way I express myself. You can do so much with clothes! People can tell how you’re feeling, where you’re going, and who you want to attract, just my what you’re wearing. Even better so, fashion/clothes won’t determine if you’re ugly or not. It is unlikely some one will look at you and say “I don’t like your outfit, therefor you are ugly”. Clothes give everyone a silent alert on how you’re feeling and how you feel about yourself, really. If you wear tighter pieces, is likely you have a higher self esteem, if you wear baggy clothes, it’s likely that you have a lower self esteem.
In truth, a good outfit can raise your self esteem from a 2 to a 10. When you see yourself in a good outfit, you think to yourself “WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW i look goooooooooooooood!” It’s true, we all do it. In theory, a good outfit can change your perception of your own beauty.
Back to a depressing topic again, the media.
When you see a picture of a super model in a magazine or on a billboard, you’re going to compare yourself to her. You’ll at her, look at yourself, look at her again, and think: “Why couldn’t I just be like her?” I know that thought passes my mind all the time. What we don’t know is that Kendall or Gigi’s stomach and thighs have been air brushed, or that Bella works out 3 hours a day. An ad does not come with the ingredients on the label, telling you whats in what you’re looking at. An ad is an ad, you see what’s in front you.
The media is the worst thing anyone’s self esteem. We are constantly surrounded by a pressure to look a certain ways, from face shape to body. Right now I just looked up proana and I’m disgusted. I didn’t even know things like this existed, and now I really want to help these girls with what they’re facing. These “proana” girls are the ones that have been affected the most by the media’s perception of beauty. If only we saw more Ashley Grahams in the media, we wouldn’t have as much of a problem.
Thank you.

Critical Analysis on Coach 1941 Fashion Campaign
IN THIS ANALYSIS, I will be discussing the fashion campaign of Coach 1941, Fall 2017.I will go into depth describing the campaign, analyzing and dissecting the campaign, and giving my opinion of the campaign. I chose Coach because I like the design of their bags, and the celebrities who campaign for them (Chloe Grace Moretz and Selena Gomez). Although neither of people will be discussed in my analysis, I will still be discussing Coach’s fashion campaign.
Coach is a designer company that sells mainly bags, wallets, and fragrances. The company does also selling a range of clothing and shoes, but they are not as advertised as their bags are. Coach sells their products at a relatively high price ranging from $155 as their lowest priced purse to $2240 as their highest priced bag. The campaign, named Coach 1941, is attempting to advertise a relaxed, calm and country lifestyle. The models are wearing loose fitting clothes in earthy tones, wearing barely any makeup, and rocking their natural hair. The campaign contains a lot of plaids, fur, print patterns, and leather, which are all considered to be part of the more relaxed side of fashion. The campaign/company uses mediums to advertise like Instagram, Facebook, magazines (i.e., Vogue), email subscriptions, and celebrity collaborations (i.e., Selena Gomez’s new line of bags).
The campaign is believed to attract young adults of all genders ranging from the ages 18-25 and its slogan is “The Prairie Meets the City.” The campaign is somewhat effective because it does get the point across but doesn’t strike any questions in the reader’s mind, which is what you want from a slogan. The slogan is also very tacky, cliche, and could’ve been thought through more. Despite the creativity that was put into this campaign, it still lacks a fair amount of variety. There is no sign of anyone with curves and body fat. There is not a single person who is shorter than 5” 8. As someone who has thick thighs, a Lil’ tummy, and is 5” 4, I am offended that there is no representation of my body in this campaign. Additionally, this campaign does not break gender norms at all in any way. Most women are wearing longs skirts or pants, and men are wearing only masculine clothing with no signs of any femininity. It would’ve been nice to see a man wear a skirt or hold a purse, but I see no signs of it. Contrary to previous arguments, one positive is that there was an abundance of racial diversity.
Unfortunately, this campaign isn’t involved with promoting positive body image in any way. As mentioned earlier, there are no models with curves. Most models are wearing loose clothing also, which hides their bodies even more.
I personally believe the clothing in the campaign were hideous and should not be worn outside the house. It makes me furious that every model had the exact same body shape and size, and that there was no body diversity. I believe the campaign was not effective. There was an absence of presenting what youth want to see in fashion and showed what old people would want to wear, rather than young people.
Throughout this analysis, I have gone over what Coach is, how they advertise, who their audience is, if the campaign lacks anything, and my beliefs of what the campaign is. In conclusion, in my opinion, the campaign was not and will not be successful, but time will tell if these looks will be integrated into everyday fashion.
