Announcing the SamBucky Reverse Bang!

The SamBucky Reverse Bang is a Sam Wilson/Bucky Barnes fanwork event, where artists submit artwork and writers create a 3K minimum story based on the work that they claim.

Some things to note:

This event is 18+ only.

No AI-generated fanworks are allowed.

This is a collaborative event: you must work with your partner artist/author.

Rules and further information below the cut:

General rules:

Participants must be 18+.

All fanworks must have SamBucky as their main and endgame pairing. The story must focus on these two, but side pairings are allowed. Fanart should be related to the main ship. Threesomes including SamBucky ARE ALLOWED but Sam/Bucky MUST be part of the endgame ship.

Do not share portions of the fanwork in open communities/chats etc before claiming.

Participants are welcome to sign up as both artist and author but cannot claim their own work.

All fanworks need to be created specifically for the event.

Absolutely no AI-generated/assisted media is allowed.

Requirements for Authors:

All fics must be new and unpublished.

All fics must be at least 3,000 words (no maximum).

All fics must be beta read before publishing.

All fics must adhere to AO3 guidelines.

Requirements for Artists:

All creations must be new and unpublished

Any and all forms of art are welcome.

Photosets/moodboards or gifsets must have at least 6 images each.

Videos must be 1:30 or more in length

Mixes must have at least 8 songs and a cover.

Publishing fanworks:

To be included in the wrap up post, fanworks must be completed and fully posted by your post date.

Not finishing a claimed fic or fanart within the event’s schedule results in exclusion from the event’s masterpost and a year-long ban from the event. INFORMATION & FAQ What exactly is a Reverse Bang?

A reverse bang is a fandom event in which an artist creates a piece of art, and an author claims it and writes a fic for it. 

Do I have to join Discord/Tumblr/other platform to participate?

Nope! As long as you have access to this Tumblr (because this is where all updates/information will be posted) and a valid email you can provide upon sign up, we do not require you to join any platform.

What pairings are allowed?

Any pairing can be included as long as Sam and Bucky are part of your main ship/end game ship. 

What content is allowed?

Any content is allowed as long as it is appropriately tagged for.  Authors, you must ensure that your artist partner is comfortable with the content you're including.

Can I use a work created for commission/auction/Patreon reward etc for this event?

No.

Can I tie my Big Bang work in with a bingo event?

Yes, as long as you are able to meet the requirements of both events AND your teammate is amenable to having their work tied to that event as well. 

How many works can I create?

We will allow up to three pieces per person for this event. Please be sure that you’re able to meet necessary deadlines before signing up to create more than one work! 

Can the story be a sequel to a story?

Not for this event.

What counts as art?

Art is pretty subjective, we’re happy to accept the usuals of: traditional art, manips, videos, comics and moodboards, mixtapes, and podfic. Just ask if what you’re planning isn’t listed.

Ykw, that is exactly what I mean when I say people are painting Sam being in the wrong because he's not communicating and listening and understanding Bucky's position in this. They want to paint this "sambucky divorce" as miscommunication (in which the blame is almost always on Sam, like "SAM JUST LISTEN TO YOUR HUSBAND, HE DIDN'T MEAN IT I SWEAR", yeah that was a direct quote from a tiktok comment) and not a breach of trust. And like completely glaze over BUCKY BARNES being in a government approved fraud "Avengers" (i'll bite and say that it's completely ooc of him and that's bad writing's fault but it did happen so unless they're reconning the whole thing, he still has to take accountability for his actions in-universe)

I wasn't going to respond to this post because I took a glance at the OP's blog, saw her posting about how saying the n-word is a minor offense, and decided it wasn't worth it, but seeing so many people post stuff like this in the tags is genuinely concerning.

Alison Bechdel isn't a TERF. Like, she objectively isn't. She's criticized MichFest repeatedly. She was writing positively about trans kids back in the early 2000s. She's on the record speaking against transphobia on numerous occasions. The only way you could possibly think she was a TERF would be if you're bad at reading, you're weird about older lesbians, or... you're just taking people who post dumb shit on Tumblr at face value.

Like. I feel weird saying this in 2025, but not everything you read on Tumblr is true. For the love of fuck, please actually read an author's works before deciding to agree with some rando claiming a woman is a TERF because she came out 50 years ago.

if you look in the comments section of Dykes To Watch Out For on her website, youll find that it’s absolutely teaming with terfs, many of whom Bechdel was close friends with and mentioned in her blog posts.

the crazy thing about this is how many people are unwilling to hear a single, basic & incredibly apparent criticism against a white cis woman because she represents a “RETVRN” to “the good days of feminism”. anybody throwing a tantrum about trans women pointing out these incredibly obvious politics held by cisgender idols should similarly be considered a terf: if people were genuinely concerned they’d ask for more information rather than immediately shutting down any mention that this could be true.
