Make Ups (Ichigo x GN! Reader)

Content: Angst with a happy ending. Reader is having a rough time grasping the reality of it all after the snowball incident, but thanks to Orihime and your reluctance to agree, you got to patch things up! (Highly recommended to read pt 1)

A/N: Hello!! It’s been a while.. I’ve been caught up with work lately and was busy! This has been in my drafts for a while but do expect bulk posts in the upcoming days! (˵ •̀ ᴗ •́ ˵ ) ✧

(Part 1)

It had been days since the incident, and you still couldn’t shake the feeling off. Your tears dried and staining your cheeks, your eyelids puffy. It felt so hard to breathe—your thoughts had become more condescending, you couldn’t help but blame yourself for this. Your worst fear became a reality, and what made unbearable were the thoughts you brushed off weren’t so easy to ignore anymore.

The more time you spent isolated, the more you reflected and looked into those thoughts. The little glimpses of Ichigo’s feelings for you in your memory—the feelings you held for him that you wouldn’t have dared acknowledged or voiced, but now reality came crashing down—you felt so selfish and disgusted at yourself for even thinking about how you had a chance with him because he reciprocated.

Through it all, Orihime still lingered at back of your mind. Her expression that day, it wasn’t something you could easily shake off. The genuine horror she had, she was visibly upset and you felt even more sick. How could you hold these feelings for him? It’s unfair to her.

“Damn it…” you muttered under your breath as you hugged your legs close to you. One hand extending out to reach for your phone as it buzzed.

As you pulled it closer to your face, you read the new notification. It was a new message from Ichigo again—among the countless of messages he left you and your friends left. Before you could fully read his message, another notification popped up, replacing his, it was from Orihime. Your eyes scanned the notification thoroughly.

“It’s been a while! I was hoping if I could come over—if it’s okay with you—and discuss something. If you’re too tired, it’s okay!” you read to yourself mentally as you sighed. She was still the sweetest despite everything.

For moment, you laid there curled up on your bed. Hesitating as you unlocked your phone and stared at her message. You took a few moments to let it sink into your brain—and having to think about how you should respond to her. How will you even face her? More and more thoughts plagued your mind as your hand and fingers worked on autopilot as you responded to her message, whilst thinking of it all.

When you face her, you’ll try your best to be honest. That was your resolve. Though, how will you face the others after? You’ve ignored their texts and calls. You couldn’t face them right now. You feel like a shitty friend because of this—after all, in your eyes you’re being immature for refusing to communicate and focusing on these thoughts. Most importantly, you ignored Ichigo the most. You read his notifications from time to time but you always ended up deeper in thought when you did.

Slowly you snapped out of your self deprecating trance and looked at what you typed out. Your eyes examined the lines of text before ultimately deciding to delete it with a grumble. It was too long and it got depressing. You settled for a simple “sure”, though you cringed as you sent it. Curled up, you plopped your phone down beside you. There was an irking sickness pooling in your stomach. As much you didn’t want to talk to anyone right now, it’s the least you could do for her. After all, she must be going through worse.

You stayed in your bed curled up, your eyes closed, waiting for time to pass. Too tired to move or get up and make yourself fully presentable. It didn’t matter though, to you—at least you showered earlier in the day. That’s enough.

As you were slowly drifting off, you were lulled back awake by a ring. You figured it could be Orihime, even if it wasn’t, you still got up and made yourself mildly presentable. Fixing your hair, changing out of your shirt into a new one, the simple things and the bare minimum you could do. You did this all quickly and you went from your room, straight down the stairs and you’re at your front door. You looked through the peephole of the door, taking a good look at who it was and you spotted a familiar head of light brown hair with her blue hair clips. Letting out a sigh of relief as you unlocked your door and opened it, trying your best to smile at her—although you’re absolutely sure you looked like a zombie—and welcomed her in. The auburn haired girl smiled back at you as she made her way in and took off her shoes. Placing them on a shoe rack nearby.

“Make yourself at home, I’ll be back with some snacks and tea. We can talk about what you wanted to discuss once it’s done.” Your voice gruff and it cracked a bit. You haven’t talked in a while, and it’s clear with how awkward you sounded.

“That sounds wonderful! Oh, and I will don’t you worry about it!” Orihime chimed, her voice as flattering as ever. She always seemed to be a ray of sunshine regardless of the circumstances. You appreciated that about her, yet… it somehow made you feel more sick. How could you ever take away something—much less someone as precious as Ichigo to her? You brushed off those thoughts with a small shake of your head and a smile as you walked to your kitchen.

For Orihime, she only stayed there and sat on the cushions. Waiting as she played with her fingers. She was just as nervous but she did a lot of thinking before messaging you today. Frankly, she didn’t think you would respond. While you were typing for a long while, she only got more nervous at that moment before she sighed as she got a message back. She was thankful you were open enough to let her talk to you. She may be an airhead, but she has noticed the way Ichigo looks at you. As much as she envied you, she knew that you were special to him. Her thoughts drifted off as she waited, and before she knew it—she was brought back to reality as she heard the clink of your kyusu and cups, followed by a plate of assorted tea biscuits.

“Ah!—Thank you so much! These look wonderful…and so tasty” she stared in awe at the assortment. There was that gleam in her eyes whenever she had baked goods in front of her. You only chuckled at her reaction, although it sounded dry, you still truly appreciated her antics.

“Help yourself.” You sat down in front of her, crossing your legs as you took your cup of tea, watching as Orihime took a butter biscuit in her hand and ate it. She made a small “mmm” sound afterwards. You let her enjoy it a little more before clearing your throat, curious about what she wanted to discuss.

“So…” you trailed off awkwardly, “you wanted to discuss something with me?”

Her eyes widened a little as her cheeks flushed a light pink tint out of embarrassment. “Ah, yes…” she laughed softly, “silly me!”

You only smiled a little and let a chuckle out, it had been days since she saw you and she’s glad you could be enjoying it a little before she turned the conversation back.

“So… I’ve been thinking about what happened last time—when we all hanged out and Ichigo…” she trailed off, finding the words and trying her best not to sound so awkward. “I’ve seen how he looks at you for a while now, and I’ve done some reflecting on it since that day. Honestly, he feels more like family to me than someone I’d have as a boyfriend!” You almost spat out your tea at the remark, you were in disbelief.

“Orihime…” before you could continue, she had cut you off.

“I know you’re going to say that I should rethink and be so sure—but I’m honest! I’m really sure about this!” She exclaimed and look directly into your eyes as if she was trying to prove something. You only stared back, trying to find any hint of sadness in her expression but there was…nothing, just pure and genuine confidence.

“You know…he loves you dearly. He loves you more than anyone else in his life and we talked a little.” she stared up onto your ceiling, “He really admires you, you’re like… the sun to him! I know it’s been hard on you, you haven’t been responding to anyone and they haven’t seen you outside at all.” You only sat in silence, listening to everything she had to say. “We’re worried for you, especially Ichigo. You two should talk!”

You sat there for a few more minutes, processing everything. The girl you knew had a massive crush for Ichigo and had been watching him from afar is currently encouraging you to go to him. The slight sickness was still there, but you agreed with her mentally. She was right and it was her resolve—it was her life and her decision to. Who are you to change what she does? But, to make sure you had to ask again.

“Are you… sure? Are you sure about all of this? I really don’t want to ruin anything for you.” You stared down onto your cup and fidgeted with your fingers.

“I’m sure! You’re a really great person, so who wouldn’t like you?” Her voice was filled with genuine affection. She was reassuring you, and how could you refuse? You also missed everyone, and it was getting tiring to be constantly swallowed in self deprecating thoughts.

“Okay… I trust your word.” You smiled at her softly, before taking the last few sips. Orihime only bummed in satisfaction, happy to have convinced you and talked to you.

She took her tea and drank it, the biscuits almost gone, and the two of you exchanged a few more words and conversed. Time went by, and you decided to walk with her—having planned now to drop by Ichigo’s place, with her convincing. The walk on the way there was silent, the two of you bundled up and simply just… there, in a way. It was peaceful, yet there was that awkwardness in the air. You both said your goodbyes as you reached the front porch of Ichigo’s house.

You waved her off and turned you back. Now walking towards the door of the Kurosaki residence. Before you could even ring the bell—you see a familiar orange haired male at the corner of your eye. You turned, and there he was. Ichigo was in his shinigami form, his shikakusho flowing in the wind. You could see the eyebags under his eyes—it seems like he hasn’t slept in a while or slept well enough the past few days.

The two of you stood there in awkward silence. He was examining you. He noticed the way you looked more pale, the way you seemed to be more lifeless—the way you looked much more frail. He mentally blamed himself, but right now it’s clear that tension must be resolved. Before he could open his mouth, your voice overpowered his.

“I know it’s weird of me to show up but—Orihime came over just now and we talked about…things.” Your voice trailed off a little, eyes wandering to his face, searching for anything…just anything as you took a deep breath and continued.

“I did some reflecting and honestly I feel the same. I thought I was selfish and all, because ya know…” you scratched the back of your head , “She liked you and I prioritized her feelings over mine. I only wanted to her happy—I wanted you to be happy. After all, we were only best friends and I didn’t want to make it awkward with stupid feelings.” Laughing a little, you truly felt silly.

Ichigo’s hands were balled up into fists. He didn’t like hearing you invalidating yourself, at all. “Your feelings aren’t stupid at all.” His voice was gruff with a hint of annoyance, but he understood why you would feel that way.

“It was my fault for the outburst. I didn’t mean to… spill it all out that day. It wasn’t my intention, everything was just too much—“

“We shouldn’t have pushed you, it was immature. We all knew about Orihime’s feelings and it’s my fault as well for pushing it further.” You cut him off.

There was a brief pause between the two of you. The air was thick with tension, unspoken words lingered—but it was broken by Ichigo.

“We can discuss that another time, I already forgave you. I’ve been worried about you, and I thought our friendship would be over. You haven’t been answering my texts, I thought something had happened to you but right now I’m more than glad you’re unscathed.” He admitted to you, voice hinting his vulnerability. “I also want you to be sure about your feelings to me.”

You took his hand into yours, your fingers tracing his knuckles as you looked at him again. Your gaze softened as you spoke, “I really do like you Ichigo, I have for a while now I just didn’t want to face them. I didn’t want to ruin the friendship we had or our friend group.”

He stared at you, his hand now fully holding yours as he sighed in relief and replaced it with a soft smile. It was rare for him to, and right now it was reserved for you. Your cheeks were dusted in pink, yet you continued to speak.

“I’ve always noticed those little glimpses and how you looked at me. I always thought I was imagining things, but I’ve been proved wrong.” You laughed lightheartedly.

“Those were only reserved for you. I always… looked at you that way in hopes you may catch on that—maybe I might have a chance. I’ve loved you for a while now and having this happening? I must be dreaming but… It’s glad to know I’m not.” He leaned forward, and gave you a chaste kiss. All of his unspoken feelings—they were poured into it.

You couldn’t help but smile now, you looked goofy and he loved it. Like he always has, he loved every part of you and today will be forever burned into his memory, and into yours. Today is a start of a new chapter, for the both of you. Though most importantly, he finally had you.

Slip Ups (Ichigo x GN! Reader)

Genre: fluff (maybe a teeny bit of angst)

Synopsis: It’s winter break in karakura town, you decide to drag the gang along to a park. Unfortunately, you are a menace, Uryu and Rukia joins in the teasing and a snowball fight ensues.. all because Ichigo and you were dumbasses. (I’m so sorry my baby orihime </3 )

Winter break had started and karakura town was blanketed in snow. All the students were bundled up and hunched together in their respective friendgroups like penguins as the snow delicately fell. As always, you and the gang would walk home together, except today you had the bright idea of dragging them to a park to “play in the snow” as if you were children again.

Unfortunately, although Uryu and Ichigo had mutually disagreed, Uryu of course claiming how immature it was; It didn’t take long for them to give in as Orihime thought it was a brilliant and fun idea. The two raven haired females, Rukia and Tatsuki, then followed suit along with Chad.

As the rest went ahead, you then grabbed Ichigo’s hand—the carrot top wearing his usual scowl. You only smiled at him, your cheeks tinted a faint pink due to the cold air as you dragged him along, your back turned to him. Ichigo noticed that faint hue, of course he did. Ever since there was that shift in your friendship, he’s noticed every single thing about you and he couldn’t help but love it all.

You would notice these changes sometimes, but you always brushed it off as being friendly. After all, the sweetest girl you knew and the kindest friend you have—Orihime, loved him very much. It was only a matter of time until she would confess to him. After all, you and the others always reassured her that he would love her dearly. You wouldn’t dare look into those thoughts either, he was your best friend and you were also loyal to your friends. The last thing you wanted was to create a rift between them.

While the two of you went along, Ichigo only focused on you. Taking in everything, there was nobody else but you currently in his mind. He was clouded in his own thoughts, god what could he ever do without you? He shared everything with you. Although right now it could be time for you and him to study for the next term, he couldn’t care less. Everyone was having fun, you were having fun. He loved the smile of yours especially.

“Ichigo— Ichigo!” You called for him, your voice louder than the last. Ichigo snapped out of his trance as he heard your voice before a snowball smacked his face. You only snickered as Rukia joined you in the assault.

“Well well well, someone’s sure lost in thought?” Her tone was teasing as Ichigo felt another smack by a snowball.

He only groaned. A light blush spreading across his face, as if he had been caught. “Oh shut it, Rukia.” He grimaced as he wiped the remnants of snow off his face.

Orihime chimed in, a small chirp in her voice. “Oh cmon Rukia, quit teasing him!” She giggled as she got closer and stood next to Ichigo. “You know even I get lost in thought! Especially about what I’m gonna eat when I get home, like today I was thinking about having pineapple enoki tempura!” She was lively and her voice was loud, but not noisy. Of course, she rambled about food and her weird tastes, but it’s what made the girl a charm to those around her.

“You’re just so adorable Orihime!” You squealed as you made another snowball in your hand. “You know, you would make such a cute girlfriend! Wouldn’t you agree, Ichigo?” You remarked, tone clearly teasing and trying to get under his skin, Orihime on the other hand blushed and stuttered as she tried to defend herself.

“I do agree, Orihime would make for a lovely partner.” Uryu interjected as the poor girl was about to speak. “They already make for a lovely couple.”

Ichigo’s face was beet red at this point from the teasing, so was Orihime’s—although for completely different reasons. He didn’t love Orihime that way, he only loved her like she was family. He didn’t like this position at all, but the reason was getting too much. All the poor boy could do was form a snowball and throw it at Uryu. From there on, a snowball fight ensues as the topic gets diverted.

It was back and forth remarks, snowballs getting thrown. It was chaotic, all the childish bickering—it felt familiar. You smiled to yourself and loudly laughed. It went on for a while. It came to a point where Ichigo was covering Orihime, as if to protect her from the onslaught—until you and your stupid mouth brought out a teasing remark.

“Man look at you! Protecting her like she’s already your girlfriend, eh Ichigo?” You laughed loudly, but that set him off.

He didn’t like it one bit, he never has. Not from you, or anyone. Everything happened fast to him and before he knew it, he already opened his mouth.

“No dumbass, I like you! Not her!” It was loud, everyone heard it. Though, it was already a bit too late to take it back or brush it off. It was a raw and honest tone. You had heard it, you stood there—wide eyed and mortified. Unfortunately for Orihime, she had the same expression and her heart sank in that moment.

Random facts: I'm a Sagittarius(I don't really believe in astrology though but I do study it) I don't like alcohol (mainly what happens when people get drunk and how they act, same with drugs.) I'm considered to be hypersexual according to my friends and my doctor too. (Which causes problems being aromantic) I hate the radio, I have ever since I was a kid. (Because of the amount of ads and the "podcasts" that are so f**king stupid!) I like butterflies/moths (They follow me like I'm a beacon of light for some reason.) I took fashion designing in high school and I still do designs for a friend of mine and helped her start her business in the fashion world.) I sit on my brother's ribs whenever he comes home drunk and try to break them. (If something pisses me off then I'll either kill it or break it.)
