Okay guys wait, what if the reason they're endlessly dragging on the tech egg thing is because Jay is somehow involved? What if the three of them wound up together after the Merge in the Land of Madness? What if they found out something they weren't supposed to, and as a result they were hunted down. For one reason or another, Jay hid Pixal and Zane away before being captured, either having the memories forcibly removed and hidden somewhere else, or having his memories locked in his own head.

Ninjago Fanfic Requests?

Hello everyone! It's been a while since I've written/posted much on AO3 (Orange_Sunsets on AO3, author of "Strength and Survival" and other fics), or even been active on Tumblr in general. I've had a busy few months and have just gotten caught up with Ninjago Dragons Rising season 3 part 1! I'm slowly catching up on reading the fanfics that I missed, but I'm also really hoping to start writing again! I really do miss it!

The problem is, I don't have much in the way of ideas. I love Ninjago with all my heart, but can't think of a good fanfic idea that I'm motivated to work on, despite having time to.

If anyone has any Lego Ninjago fanfic requests, please feel free to drop them in my ask box or reply to this post! I can't guarantee that I will get to them (depending on where my motivation lies, if I suddenly get busy, etc.), but I would love to hear any ideas that anyone has, or ideas that you believe I could write well! I really want to get my creative juices flowing again! I mainly write Jay centric fanfics, but I would love to hear any requests that you might have, even if Jay isn't the main character.

Just a few rules/requests on my end; I would love it if the fanfic requests were only for platonic relationships, not romantic (with the exception of Jay/Nya, I love these two!), no crossovers with other fandoms, and could be written as Teen or General. I do love writing angst, gore, etc. but topics that are usually reserved for Mature ratings I usually avoid.

Also, if you submit a request I would ask that you are okay with being credited for the idea/request when I post the story on AO3 and Tumblr (if you want you could also include an AO3 username so I could gift the story to you). If you're not okay with it please send the request anonymously, I wouldn't want to credit someone who doesn't want to be credited!

Jay had very sparingly used his elemental powers post-merge because he simply didn’t know how to control them. How could he went he didn’t remember even having them in the first place?

So he’s hopeful when he joins Ras, but the thing is, nobody else seemed to know how to control The Element of Lightning either. Everyone assumes it’s like most others where it’s something one can charge up, going from weaker power to stronger power before attacking.

But lightning is typically 30000 amps, Jay’s power starts off stronger right off the bat. He has to suppress it and make it weaker because even 0.1 amps can kill a person. Of course, no one seems to know that yet and Jay avoids using his abilities due to just how destructive they were.

i find jays hobby progression fascinating. his inventing passion got turned into duty and off screen he burnt out or got crushed by his own insecurity (since the team doesnt need an inventor whos, in his mind, is mediocre at best compared to nya and pixal) and also off screen, he picked up dancing and painting. like the (probably) only time after we see him even tinker with anything is in s7 when hes at home with his dad and his mum needs saving. but for most intents and purposes, he burnt out after skybound. because that nadakhan and misfortunes keep were the only thing he couldnt think his way out of. so yeah i think dancing and painting were actually like self therapy methods and coping mechanisms. something that was just his own, so his only thing that he didnt share with others was skybound trauma.

We don't know how long the Merge has lasted, but I can't help but realize that Jay probably hasn't gotten a hug, or any meaningful form of physical touch, since before the Merge. Which for Jay, who I head canon being very physically affectionate, would be torture.

He probably got a few handshakes at the Administration, but he would've never found a friend who would be willing to give him a hug. All of it was business, and even if Jay remembered that he longed for hugs, that he loved high-fives or even a quick side hug, he would be too scared to ask for one.

Ras would've certainly kicked Jay to the curb if Jay had tried to get a hug from anyone around them, Ras didn't want anyone soft on the team, and Jay knew it. So he buried the desire, instead choosing to focus on his training.

Now Jay would probably see families and friends hanging out and hugging as he traveled through the Merged realms, and wonder if he would ever trust someone enough to get hugged by them. Or if someone would care enough about him to give him one.

There's a lot of talk about Jay's new haircut right now....but I have to say I'm so excited to see him get a new look! He's finally finding his own identity and confidence after being told who to be from 2 others: Ras and the Administration. I feel like it's a physical representation of Jay finding his own footing in a post-Merge (and post-amnesic) world, footing that he found himself. And I'm so happy about it!!

Guys the Ninjago AUs won't stop barging into my brain 😂

I'm currently thinking about a one shot where Jay has a prosthetic leg before he joins the ninja team, and tries to hide it because he's ashamed of it. He was bullied in school for many things, like being poor, too talkative, etc. but the leg was the worst of it. He grew up thinking that it was something that was bad, should be hidden, and those thoughts resided with him his entire life.

The leg would be made of scrap from his parent's junkyard (so he always carries a piece of his family with him). Sometimes it would break, but Jay would always know how to fix it so he could use it again. It was the only prosthetic leg his parents could afford, and Jay begged them to not save up any money for a better one, when the money could go towards buying food or fixing the jalopy. His leg worked just fine.

As a Ninja, Jay would try so hard to hid the slight limp that he has, afraid that the others would find him unworthy. He would avoid any instances like pool parties that would expose the truth. He would learn how to kick and fight with only his human leg, so to not reveal that his other leg isn't strong enough to do the same.

Once the others find out (in a situation I'm still trying to figure out) Nya and/or Pixal would make a high-quality leg that would help Jay walk easier and have slightly more power in his kicks. Jay would then keep his old leg on display in his room, proud of who made it for him. He would slowly learn though his teams support that it was never something to be ashamed of, and there was no need to hide it.

I'm probably going to start writing this tonight, because to me this is such a sweet AU that needs to be written ASAP.

i like the idea of jay pre ndr never really wearing his gi properly, like it’s loose and not ironed and overall just looks a little messy, but when he starts wearing it again during his redemption arc post s3 it’s nice and pressed and fitted because he’s so used to the strict administration dress requirements and the tight specialized wolf clan attire that it’s engraved into his brain to be presentable or else

Zane loses his memories and becomes evil. Jay loses his memories and becomes evil. Is it a weird implication that we're constantly shown that the OG Ninja have so much potential as villains, and the only thing keeping them good is literally just each other and their shared found family memories?

I've been thinking about my Never Alone (never again) AU (where Jay befriends a dragon), and I've been thinking about the fact that Jay and the dragon become so close that Jay trusts the dragon's judgement with everything. If the dragon trusts something, Jay finds himself trusting it, too. And, if the dragon doesn't trust something, Jay considers it an enemy.

So the Ninja, when they see Jay again, are recommended to get close to the dragon, make sure that it likes them, and Jay will begin to trust them, at least tolerate them, unlike his attitude at the tournament. As crazy at it sounds to the Ninja, they know better than to question those who have been helping Jay, who have watched as he and the dragon grew closer and closer.

When the Ninja eventually face Jay, Jay looks to his dragon for guidance, because he knows that if his dragon considers them a friend, maybe he can, too, despite the reasons he hates them.
