i aproached you asking a genuine question, and was understanding of your perspective and opinions while responding. you @ed her and called her a piece of shit while trying to get people to block her and get her blog taken down. how is that comparable to you? and how is that not aggressive?

i didnt go into this looking for an argument. i guess i was just naively hoping that maybe you'd try and have some empathy for a girl who has similar struggles to you. you seem like a person who's kind and willing to defend underdogs, so i figured i might offer a different outlook on the situation and that you might understand. i hope that one day you'll realise that you should uplift the people with similar struggles to you, rather than beating somebody who's already on the ground.

she did seem genuinely shaken up by the prospect of her blog getting removed, because its one of the only things thats keeping her from social isolation. but if believing that your actions hold no consequences helps you sleep at night, then by all means, stay in denial.

if you only have 20 followers and it wont be seen, why even use your valuable time and effort? what do you gain from calling out a disabled girl online?

i'm really sorry that you went through that, but i never said you were harassing her. blocking her is completely within your right, you should block anybody that you dont want to interact with! however, instead of just blocking her, you were @ing her URL in a public post and calling her a piece of shit, and now you're constructing a callout post with the intention of having people report her blog, in an attempt to get it taken down. (her blog, which she uses as a primary coping mechanism.) correct me if im wrong, but that COULD count as inflicting emotional suffering and bullying another disabled person.

sorry, im on another side blog here. i'm autistic as well, so i understand where youre coming from. i understand that you may not agree with everything she's said, but why would you take away one of her primary coping mechanisms and cause another disabled person more unnecessary suffering in a world thats already against her? do you really think it's your place to put somebody else through that? she's already going through so much, i just dont understand why would you feel the need to worsen her mental state and cause more harm to somebody who's already suffering? isnt living as a disabled person in this society enough of a punishment?

hey, that post is me! i've followed you for a really long time and i really admire you and your leadership in the lapidot community. its awesome and interesting to see your take on my post :D

even though this is one of her doodles, as somebody whos both a huge fan of lapidot and evangelion i personally find it hard to brush this off as a coincidence, especially knowing that rebecca herself is also a big fan of Evangelion.

rebecca sugar is known for having ships from her favorite shows influence character relationships in SU. for example, from rebeccas favorite anime Revolutionary Girl Utena, juri and shiori's relationship is canonically a direct inspiration for jasper and lapis's relationship.

as show writer Matt Burnett once said while working on Steven Universe-

the crew members on steven universe are known to reference their favorite anime in the show. Evangelion is a favorite of a lot of the crew, and rebecca. it has been referenced in the show, and in sketches and promotional art by the crew, more times than i can fit on this post.

that being said, her association between these characters isnt completely out of the question.

so i'm wondering how you think this is just a coincidence? do you usually think that people are wrong when saying that SU is referencing something? the angle, pose, facial expressions, lighting, and shading are all the same, right down to the sweat marks. and as if that isnt already enough, the striking similarities between these characters relationships and situation put it all into context.

ive read all of the comics and i dont need to watch these videos because ive already watched the show enough times. obviously i agree that theres a basis for lapidot to exist in the show, i ship it too. (the official comics are second-tier canon, btw. they arent made by the people who create and write steven universe.)

first of all, to say that shinji didnt want to be with asuka is wildly inaccurate. he's infatuated with all three of the female leads, whether its healthy romantic love or not. its also inaccurate to say that asuka isnt important to shinji. thats just ridiculous. he cares about her well being, even if he doesnt know how to properly address those feelings, theyre still clearly there.

lapidot doesnt have to be a bad relationship in the show. i never said that it did. just because theyre flawed doesnt mean that its a bad ship.

shinji wasnt the one who was reluctant to live with asuka, similar to how peridot quickly accepted life with lapis.

you're right that peridot and lapis both had the choice to leave the barn. exactly like how asuka and shinji both had the choice to leave at misatos house. asuka even leaves and runs away JUST like lapis does. and when she leaves shinji falls into a depression just like peridot.

i'm not trying to say that lapis and peridots relationship is bad? just that it was formed on bad terms. my opinion on whether or not their relationship is truly healthy is irrelevant. shinji and asukas relationship isnt all shown as bad, either. i dont think that lapis and peridots relationship is as bad and unhealthy shinji and asukas, just that there are striking similarities in the circumstances that they were formed on. and that's why rebecca drew this drawing. and thats why i made this post, because i havent seen anybody make the connection yet.

obviously i still ship lapidot and you can too, im just saying that the similarities are there.

i love lapidot, ive loved it since peridot was first introduced. if you feel the same way as i do and you dont know about what this drawing was referencing, then i recommend reading this post.. this is a scene from neon genesis evangelion, one of rebecca sugars favorite anime of all time. this iconic scene takes place between two characters who have to become roommates due to a situation that was out of both of their controls. the character thats in peridots position is extremely lonely and quickly accepts their new roommate, only for the other roommate (the character lapis is drawn as) to push him away and deny the other’s attempts at friendship (despite her own loneliness, she acts strong and convinces herself that she doesnt need anyone). sound familiar to anybody?

eventually, she reluctantly accepts their new living situation. theyre both obligated to eachother because neither of them has anybody else, and this is what their relationship is formed on. the two of them, however, ultimately end up hurting each other.

this is why it kind of irks me when people use this picture as evidence for lapidot being cannon. i love lapidot, but the fact that rebecca drew them as these two characters shows that her intention wasnt meant for the two of them to be seen as a romantic relationship. rather, as two roommates in a bad situation, that are both desperate for acceptance and warmth. (its also weird when people say this is evidence because the attempted kiss in this scene is completely non-consensual, and the same character does other creepy non-consensual *ahem* acts to the other after that. but i digress.)

i personally like that in SUF the two arent attached at the hip anymore, because the two of them finally have more options than just each other. but that’s just me personally. anyway i made myself sad. there are more ways that shinji and asuka’s relationship mirrors lapidot, but this post is already getting pretty long. if you havent seen neon genesis evangelion then you should watch it and see if you can catch all the references to it in that are in SU
