Regulus Black was hardly two weeks off the boat from Cherbourg by the time his panics had caught up to him. Not the big, heaving ones which still occasionally plagued him at the smell of arsenic and on certain anniversaries— he had never quite managed to outrun those— but the little, inconvenient panics which put a stutter in his chest and meant he could hardly go for a pleasant afternoon promenade without looking for some private place to sneak off to.
