Everytime Webster is getting bullied by a member of easy co he zones out and enters a daydream state where he's with Liebgott holding hands on a beach somewhere and is allowed to read his literature without being harrassed

The thing that makes me crazy about webgott is that their whole relationship is centred around the fact that they do not understand each other but so desperately want to.

Like the wagon scene! Where Lieb automatically assumes Web finished his degree and Web snaps at him for assuming anything. And instead of fighting back, Lieb’s just like “yeah you’re right” and so quickly throws away his preconceived notion of Webster in order to get to know the real one. (And don’t get me started on Lieb’s “you’re kidding? I love to read!” Like Lieb, you are down sooooo bad)

And then there’s the infamous mountaintop scene where Web is *so* insistent on asking Liebgott if this was personal to him or not. He wants to understand what exactly Liebgott is feeling and thinking, and by now, he knows him well enough to see through Liebgott’s lies of it just being an order to him. (AND ONCE AGAIN, DONT GET ME STARTED ON HOW LIEB WAS DEFINITELY THE ONE WHO DRAGGED WEB TO THE MOUNTAINTOP WITH HIM. LIKE WEB DID NOT KNOW ANY OF THE DETAILS FOR THE MISSION. HE WAS THERE BECAUSE LIEBGOTT *WANTED* HIM TO BE THERE AHHHHHHHHHH)

And then after the mountaintop scene, after everything that’s transpired, they still attempt to bridge that gap. Does it work? That’s another reason why I love webgott because the possibilities are endless. They could so easily fall into strangers just as easily as lovers. Or maybe a mixture of both. But if they do end up together, they will never stop trying to know each other. Will they ever find full understanding? No, and they’re okay with that because their edges will soften together until they are inextricably intertwined. It’s hard work but also it’s the easiest work because they’re doing it together.
