The reason people claim that Zutara should have been canon or why they thought it will happen is because, as the writers said in this video, there were fights in the writing room about it

And because they got ship baited

Something that they are doing all over again with the live action show which made Kataang fans cry and throw a fit that Zutara will happen. They are basically falling for the exact same thing that the Zutara fans fell back in the day

Zutara is not canon and will never be, but the fans were made to believe that something more will happen between Zuko and Katara which is why a ship war started in the first place and why to this day they ask themselves "What if...?"

Half of the ships people SWEAR are ment to be cannon and the creators were just scared to do so, are like pure delusions, pure delusions, your ship is only cannon on ao3 and thats why its so good. But it was never ment to be cannon

When will Kataang fans understand that the reason Kataang is uncomfortable isn't because of the age gap (Zuko and Katara have the same age gap), but because Aang looks, sounds and sometimes acts like a prepubescent child while Katara looks, sounds and sometimes acts more mature in comparison?

This people got a live action version of their couple and they still can't see it

Gordon even said he lost a tooth while working on the first season. That's how young he was. There are just 3 years between him and Kiawentiio, but usually the maturity levels between a 12 year old and a 14-15 year old are more obvious

It's easier to hide this kind of differences in an animated show, but in real life not so much

I saw people saying things like "He is not going look the same throughout the all show. In the third season he will be more mature"

But why do you need to wait until he is more mature? What's wrong with the way he looks? It is because you don't like short guys? It is because you are shallow? Or is it because it's f*cking uncomfortable to watch them kiss or blush when he looks like a baby by her side?

Aang looked almost the same the entire show because the events take place in a year if I'm not wrong

Gordon is going to look more mature because the show takes years to make one season

That's kinda how he would have looked like in season 3 if they didn't take so long to make the show

My problem with Kataang is not necessarily the way he looks (there also things related with the writing that I don't like when it comes to this ship). If that would be the case, I would ship them at this point because we already got the teenage and adult version of Aang. It's just that the all "wait until he is old enough" thing can be kinda icky

I'm not saying people should start shipping Zuko and Katara because of this. There are valid reasons not to like Zutara (sometimes you don't even need a reason to dislike something), but I think this is also a valid reason for us to dislike Kataang
