The day has come! Get those applications in!
We're looking forward to seeing everyone's work! Thank you for your support 💖

In response to the breath-taking reception our initial announcement and the interest checks submitted, we are excited to officially introduce Lulles to the team behind Courage and Grace: A MiphLink Zine. We are dedicated to delivering the absolute best for this project and the community that has helped us get this far. Lulles will be serving as our Co-Art Mod, helping and assisting with contributor support, application reviews, and art coordination. Super Snail has transitioned to a dedicated Graphic Design Mod role to focus her creative energy on specific art requirements, including but not limited to cover art and promotional visuals.
This addition to the mod team is one of many decisions we have considered extensively to streamline our internal structure and maximize the talents and skills of every mod involved. Given the incredible community response, we also wanted to give everyone a chance to get to know Lulles better:
Tumblr media
About: I’m Luisa (aka Lulles), I’ve been a gamer since I was 5, and been drawing basically since I was born. I got into Zelda around the time Ocarina of Time released and the series has been a huge part of my life ever since.
Years Active in the Community: Uhhh I would say since 12 or 14? I frequented Zelda forums back in the day like Zelda Universe and other websites that sadly don’t exist anymore.
How I got into Miphlink: Blame Lili lol.
Experience / Other Projects: Besides working as an illustrator and character designer for companies like Nickelodeon and WayForward, I was also in two Zelda zines: “It’s Dangerous To Go Alone, Take this Book nº4” and “Fashion of Zelda."
My Favourite Works: Daybreak, I Waited, Caliginous, Sun, Infinity
Separately, we have become aware that certain fandom members have concerns regarding the topic of our preparedness and capability. These concerns focus on the mods' lack of zine experience, whether in finance, writing, or general project management. Although we are not disputing these members' good faith, we do not believe these concerns are warranted.
The mods in this zine collectively have extensive work experience in producing and selling written and visual work product. Amongst us, our team consists of professional artists with domestic and international followings, a business owner generating profits, an industry illustrator with experience in product development, a lawyer with extensive editing editing and writing experience, and an engineering executive. In retrospect, our initial description of our experience and history did not reflect our capabilities. We limited our descriptions to fandom-specific history, even though our real-world experience fuels our confidence in creating this project.
To be clear, we have not literally produced or modded a fandom zine before. To start, most of us have not had the chance or motivation to make or mod a zine. We primarily ship and create for MiphLink, but there have been few, if any, MiphLink-exclusive zines in the eight years since Breath of the Wild. Even so, our collective of skills and experiences translate to this project, whether it be selling art, products, or services, delivering products within project deadlines, operating professional software and typesetting works, supervising journals featuring multiple writers, and managing and editing other artists, writers, lawyers, and engineers.
We also accounted for financial metrics based on the printing and shipping services we are using. Although the physical and merch options’ pricing will be determined after we lock in our merch plans, we have pricing for the other options. We rely on one service to print the physical copies with our specs (size, page count, print quality, cover, binding) and derived prices to produce and ship these books to us. We rely on a second service to ship out our products, and derived monthly operation fees, online-payment processing fees, and average shipping fees. Our mods do a lot of work and planning behind the scenes to bring this project to fruition.
While there may be unforeseen bumps in the road, we hope our experience gives others confidence that we are prepared to handle whatever comes our way. This is a project born from passion and a mutual desire to create a collection of works to celebrate this pairing and the incredible fans and creators behind it.
On that note, we would like to remind everyone that our applications for art, writing, and merchandising are now open! We look forward to seeing all of your applications!

A question for the mods: What do you like about Miphlink? I love hearing everyone's thoughts on it :]
Perc: What *don’t* I love about the ship — it’s the only one I’ve felt motivated to write for. They’re a badass warrior couple that I could see relating to each other on a personal level. Mipha is straight up the most Paladin character (warrior who heals). The Aragorn-Arwen parallels (Link spent time in the Domain as a kid, Mipha has the longer lifespan). The fact that the Domain is way more familial to Link than any other region. The contrasting colors. The proof that quiet people can be powerful. The ARMOR.
I think the tragedy made the ship stick for me, along with the multi-timeline hope and support of AoC. But I wouldn’t have gotten as much joy writing them together if there wasn’t some good overlap from canon. There’s just enough detail for Link and Mipha that they’re more than mere player avatars and it’s worth building them out into a bunch of new stories.
__________________________________________
Lili: What got me hooked(pun intended) on MiphLink is that they have history together, having been friends since childhood, as well as the idea of them defying expectations or fate to choose each other. Also, I love pain and their romance makes my heart ache in the best way possible. Their union was doomed to end in heartbreak from the start. We all know what happened, but even if Mipha had survived the Calamity she would've outlived Link. But there's something about them still choosing to be together despite all of that. 🐬🗡️💖
___________________________________________
Snail: I really like Mipha and mostly just want to be happy. She deserves a cute knight boyfriend :^) Mipha seems to be someone that could ground Link, too. She's someone he can trust to hold her own in battle and not have to worry about too much.
___________________________________________
Shield: I am a hopeless romantic and a sucker for tragedy and/or different lifespans. This pair fit everything, from being reminiscent of Arwen and Aragorn, to being doomed to be separated by death even if all they hoped for came true. I was drawn to their story because it felt like they were so deeply wronged and stolen from by fate. So I became deeply invested in wishing that they could have had their happy years in full, and I'm still there. It's very rare for me to be so invested in a pair of characters, which I think speaks to how compelled I was by what they could have had 😭💔
___________________________________________
Clock: Never cared much for love and romance in media, then it caught up to me. Covid hit, isolation hit harder, relationships fell apart. I fell into a rut and started playing games I'd been putting off just to have something new. Breath of the Wild was one of those games, and God damn was it so much fun. But it didn't hook me emotionally, not till I did the Zora Questline. I think that loneliness coupled with Mipha's tragic story and how it added so much more weight to the game and Link as a character had in impact on me. I see love in a lot more places now. I've become a romantic in a sense. I got motivated to start drawing again, and in doing so met so many cool artists and writers who continued to inspire and support me. Life got better. Those two characters will always have a place in my heart and mind as a result. I have to do them justice.

Out of desperation, Link makes a forbidden pact with the demon sealed within the Horned Statue. He trades a portion of his own life to bring his beloved back from the dead. Against all odds, the demon fulfills his end of the bargain.
Mipha awakens, she is alive once more! They are both overjoyed! However, their joy is short lived. Mipha is horrified upon learning how she was brought back. The Link she knew and loved would never commit such a sacrilegious act.
Link pleads with her, insisting that he did it for her - for them - so that they could have a second chance at happiness together.
But it's too late, Mipha cannot accept the unholy price of her return. She runs away from him and Link loses her all over again.
so I'm replaying BOTW and I came upon the horned statue and now I'm thinking about Link exchanging some of his life essence to bring Mipha back 😩
