how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)
there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you can’t find any post on your own blog, it’s impossible, bluhrblub~
I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if you’re on desktop/browser and you know what you’re doing:
url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, it’s just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant
url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest first
url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isn’t as perfect at finding everything, but it’s generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it “look at my croissant”) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it won’t necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find it’s still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order
url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case you’re taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memes
url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now
url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if you’re looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc
url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if you’re looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quickly
url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I don’t know why you have audio posts tagged croissant)
the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog!
caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. a “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I’ve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks.
if the person doesn’t have a “custom theme” enabled, you’re beholden to the search bar. still, I’ve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else
if you’re on mobile, I’m sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if you’re able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, you’ll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and it’ll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if there’s no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)

so i hate thw but... grimmel would have been so much fun in defenders of berk.
imagine what his relationship with dagur would have been like. two nutcases obsessed with taking down that fucking night fury. one is an impulsive teenager and the other is a calculative old man. they'd absolutely detest each other but they'd try to work together anyway which would be peak comedy. hiccup has to deal with both of them AND alvin AND all the other shit that was going on back then with the Screaming Death and the Skrill and whatnot. like. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO COOL??? like tone down the whole "i have killed every night fury" bullshit and remove the light fury from the equation and that sounds like a solid show. you could even somehow squeeze in a grimmel redemption arc if you were deranged enough. imagine how rtte would have turned out. imagine how httyd 2 could be rewritten in that scenario. A look at all the Roy and Liko designs we've had thru-out the series! (Also, the jump in height between Roy pre-timeskip and after-timeskip 😮)

Happy pride month specifically to folks on the asexual and aromantic spectrum who oftentimes feel isolated and left out of the conversation. You belong here as much as the rest of us and I hope that you are all loved in a way that is comforting to you.

Also I wanna be clear I DO NOT want to shit on any of the actors, I think they all did a fine job with what they were given. It's clear to me that most of the criticisms especially surrounding Nico are baseless and stupid and I really don't want to go down THAT route. BUT I HAVE TO SAY, idk if the directing (probably is) or the line delivery but I did NOT like how Astrid was so watered down in her temper and emotions... Like Sorry to Nico, but this is mostly because of how Astrid lacked just... so much passion and ANGER, her expressions are mostly tame and neutral and that was sad to see.
And Mason as Hiccup? sorry it was so hard for me to believe he was "different" than the others, like the VOLUME and the SIZE of the rest of the village was so not felt, which to me was a HUGE ASS thing in the movie, and again, nothing against Mason but sadly he lacked just so much of Hiccups physicality, his expressions, his body language and movement... :/
And yes Toothless lacked SO MUCH EMOTION. It was like he was barely a character. Idk if they really just don't want to pay good animators or what cause the CGI looked so awful in his face it was uncanny... He couldn't even show emotions on his face cause it looked so weird with his new design and therefore, his WHOLE character felt souless and unimportant. He felt like a wild animal with no actual brain than a character... same with the rest of the dragons honestly.
But oh well, I guess just like everything in this movie... it all felt like an uncanny retelling of a much better story and sadly the characters themselves are the ones who suffered the most

Something I rarely see talked about is the fact that, at least twice in the first movie alone, Toothless helps Hiccup set boundaries or get the respect he feels Hiccup deserves.
He didn't start flying peacefully to show Astrid how nice it can be until after she apologized for being mean and threatening to tell the village. And when she did, Toothless almost immediately relaxed and arguably showed off. Like he was saying "look at this. Look at us. Look at what you'd be breaking apart and missing out on."
And, even if he didn't know the full story or reason, Toothless knew Hiccup and Stoick had a fight and Hiccup was upset. So he didn't show Stoick that Hiccup was alive until after he apologized for hurting Hiccup and starting that massive fight in the first place. In that scene, if you look at Toothless's eyes, you can tell he's waiting for something. And the second Stoick apologized, Toothless softened and opened his wings.
Even if Toothless didn't fully understand the entire situation or all the complex human stuff associated with it, he still knew that Hiccup was upset and deserved an apology. Even if neither time Hiccup asked for one and was ready to just sweep it under the rug and forget, Toothless still went the extra little mile to make it clear he wouldn't allow Hiccup to be pushed around or hurt or disrespected or anything without consequence.
Just. I love that. I love how that alone shows how damn smart the dragons, or at the very least Night Furies, can be. Toothless is Hiccup's number one advocate for anything.

Reporter: Why do you think so many countries’ governments around the world are just ignoring what’s happening in Gaza?
Greta Thunberg: Because of racism, that’s the simple answer, I would say. Racism, and basically desperately trying to defend a deadly, destructive system that systematically maximizes short term economic profit and geopolitical power over the well being of humans and the planet. Right now, it is morally difficult to defend that – it is impossible— but they’re desperately trying which is …. absurd is not the word, but there are no words to describe it.
