izzy absorbed gabriel's words, a mix of gratitude and sadness enveloping her. his mere presence provided solace amidst the whirlwind of her emotions, and she found herself genuinely thankful for his unwavering support. "thanks, gabe," she murmured softly, a faint smile gracing her lips. "yeah, it's tough. but i guess it was bound to happen sooner or later."
she knew gabriel was well-versed in her struggles; he had been her confidant through it all. Unlike her judgmental mother or some of her friends, gabriel offered a safe space where she could freely express herself.
at the mention of lunch, izzy's stomach growled in agreement, a reminder of her neglected appetite. "an orange sounds good, actually," she chuckled, though the idea of a larger meal was tempting. "And a drink wouldn't hurt either. but truth be told, I could really go for a burger right now," she admitted. she had only had coffee to fuel her through the arguments this morning.
with gabriel's reassurance, izzy felt a weight lift off her shoulders. "i know, and i'm really grateful for that," she affirmed sincerely, locking eyes with him. "it's nice to know I'm not the only one who sees through his facade. he did suck, like, major sucked." the chance to vent about jason provided a cathartic release, exactly what she needed in that moment.
he wasn't sure what to do or how to comfort izzy. this was such a delicate situation, and unfortunately, one he suspected could happen. each time she talked to gabriel, there was a new situation: he wouldn't call her back, he was giving her the silent treatment, or calling her crazy. each conversation felt draining, so he could only imagine how much more it was for isabella who was experiencing everything firsthand. for izzy's sake, he hoped things would get better for them, but each time, there was something new. that was why, he did not hesitate to show up when she called.
"fair," he agreed, a sympathetic smile forming on his lips. "I guess, I just meant sorry for...the situation. It's a shame. breakups are always tough." gabriel let her settle in before turning the car back on. her sigh of relief was the sign he needed, they had spent enough time here. "have you had lunch? I have a total of one drink and an orange in the fridge, so our options at my place are limited." he had to remember to keep his place stocked a bit more, now that he had company. "hey, come on. no need to thank me, you know i'm here for you. it's the least I could do. besides, since you're no longer dating him, I can finally admit that I've never really been a huge fan of Jason."

"the pick of the lot as they say," dylan chuckled, his laughter genuine as he appreciated aria's playfulness. "aw, thanks aria. I just needed reassurance from someone else. didn't want to come off too vain," he added with a grin, leaning back and stretching, feeling a warmth spreading within him. perhaps it was aria's words, or maybe the beers he'd had earlier, but it always felt good to hear her thoughts.
"you know what they say, a little push never hurt anyone," he joked, acknowledging aria's tendency to worry about the present and the future. he wanted to share his carefree nature with her, even though he sometimes wished he had her wisdom and composure.
as for jess, dylan's interactions with her were mostly mindless chatter mixed with sex. that's how most of his relationships went, and he didn't see a reason to change it just yet. "more being what I just hinted at earlier! show that man some lovin'," he teased, nudging her playfully. "we're only in our twenties, no fun in keeping everything locked in." but deep down, he understood—or thought he did—about wanting more. sometimes he wished he could have a deeper bond with his partner, but it never compared to the thrill of his carefree lifestyle. anyways, he had aria to complete that desire. what more could he need?
“We are awesome aren’t we. I did notice them both check out your hair today.” Aria remarked with a grin as she looked over at the bright lights over by the workers. Letting her eyes linger for a moment before they moved right back onto Dylan. Her grin changed into a small smile as she heard his genuine tone. “I care about yours too. I appreciate how you usually push me to do more. I really need it sometimes.” Her fingers play with the clean napkins littering the table. It was one of the many things she adored about his personality, his ability to risk anything and not overthink every move the way she did. After knowing him for so long she wished it would just rub off on her.
“Yes Dylan, we have.” Aria responded with a slight sigh. He was completely right, she was 24 now and should be ready to figure these kinds of things out. But she just felt like there was something lacking with Henry that she couldn’t explain. Maybe it was purely feeling and they just needed to have some kind of amazing sexual experience to really put the pieces together. “We’ve kissed but I don’t know it’s just hard to explain. You ever feel like you want more?” She whispered the last part, leaning in a little closer to make sure he’s able to hear every word. “Maybe it’s just a feeling I’m having, I don’t know.”

despite the wind, jennie felt a warm glow from the champagne, her slightly buzzed state adding to the sensation. a black dress hugged her figure nicely, with a small shawl draped over her shoulders for warmth. as she shivered, she pulled the shawl closer, feeling a flutter of excitement mixed with nervousness. over the past year, jennie had been delighted to have bruce on the team; his presence made workdays feel less stressful, and she found herself drawn to his beautiful eyes. now, as she sensed his gaze on her, she felt a new kind of shyness.
"the tone is perfect, i can't deny" jennie remarked. she watched as he took a sip of his champagne, mirroring his actions almost instinctively. she laughed, "well, don't worry too much. i don't have any bermuda plans. we can grab a coffee or something if you miss me enough." jennie had no plans for the weekend and looked forward to relaxing, despite feeling drained by her job. bruce's presence was one of the few things that kept her at the company, although she didn't feel inclined to share that with him. those were thoughts best kept to herself.
"but oh god, the bermuda trip," she continued, "i've heard so much about it, i feel like i'm going myself." she let out the comment before meeting bruce's gaze, feeling a magnetic pull from the blue depths of his eyes.
a sense of CLOSURE colors the night as the business people celebrate behind the window, within the warmth of the building. the outside gives the two friends distance from the group they spend so much time with. in a way the finishing celebration of a project is like the end of a school year—happy to be gone but wondering what the SUMMER will bring. the feeling is fleeting and nostalgic; bruce's body hasn't had this feeling in YEARS; on this rooftop, with her, he feels young.
bruce can't seem to take his eyes off her. he generally never needs to—they worked close enough that he found SHE had become his favorite part of the work day. "you don't like the corporate talk? i worked real hard to get my tone perfect, just for you." he teases, humming sweetly while another small sip of champagne goes between his lips. whiping winds continue to roll through. mother nature just can't seem to decide between winter and spring.
"as much as i kind of hate going into the office, i am gonna miss all of you for the week that the offices are closed." everyone needed a vacation. that much was obvious. but bruce had learned to admire his routine. "you have any plans for the week? i know monica is taking a trip to bermuda." bruce continues the small talk, though his vivid blue eyes look at her with DEEP intent, as if their souls were speaking something that their mouths could not.

pearl.
dialogue prompts from pearl by siân hughes.
what were you afraid of?
no one deserves to be judged on the worst five minutes of their life.
the house is full of secrets.
i know this one.
i'm not going to your stupid haunted house.
how can you not know how to light a fire?
you never wanted me for myself.
try summoning something useful, like a pizza delivery.
you were right. i was wrong.
it's not you. it's nothing to do with you.
it never felt right. it was never the right time.
have you got anything on your feet?
i want to say goodbye.
you're not well enough to go anywhere.
i'll forgive you, eventually.
there are words that only mothers say.
would you like me to do a drawing for you?
you're good, i can see. kind.
grief takes the kindhearted the hardest.
go home by nine, or they all take their clothes off.
i've never met an actual pagan before.
sometimes i think i've lived my life as an observer.
it's the summer solstice. wear your best undies.
it turns out all those clichés and bad pop songs were right.
'jaunty' is not a sexy word.
are you comfortable with posing?
is that your natural hair color, or did something go wrong with the dye?
you already know my name. it's on my card.
why do you even care?
it's hard work trying to pin all your love on a peg that's trying to prove a point.
i was too young and stupid to know when to back off.
i couldn't bear how happy you looked.
i think you're a bit ill.
i know i have to run away, but i'm too tired for running.
i've spent my life wishing i knew better.
there's no way i'm leaving you alone for a minute.
it hurts me to see how much you love ____.
i can go from reality to invention in a heartbeat.
every human has a trip switch.
i don't know how many times i have written this, how many versions there are.
will the devil be there waiting for me?
you've finally run out of excuses.
i didn't like it much, but i didn't mind much.
parents are supposed to be organized. good at getting out of bed.
what if no one is to blame?
it's hard to take credit for anything good.
that's fun for old people.
you're like a vengeful wraith.
just don't expect me to be where you left me.
go inside. this is not going to get any better.
stay for a cold drink, at least.
it must have been lonely.
i used to light fires inside here for fun.
you'll have to find your own way out.
the worst thing is when you've forgotten, and then you remember.
there's supposed to be magic in naming someone.
the undead are not known for their mercy.
it's not much of a funeral, is it?
everyone always wanted to know why i was so unhappy.
how could you forget me?
there's nothing the matter with your heart. it's not broken.

𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐐𝐔𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒.
All sentences on this memes are taken from different sources of literature, television and media about enemies to lovers trope and enemies and lovers trope with some angst thrown into the mix. Change pronouns, names and locations as you see fit.
Does it hurt? Loving someone who can’t love you back?
Break his crown, break his throne, rip his monarchy apart.
What are we doing?
You are capable of making my blood boil like no one else, and yet I feel a magnetic pull I cannot explain.
It’s not natural for someone to be as stupid as he is tall, and yet there you stand
Like whether you should kiss me or punch me.
Most of all, I hate you because I think of you. Often. It’s disgusting, and I can’t stop.
You make me feel things that shouldn’t exist.
Whatever this is, we should stop. I have been. . .compromised.
There’s a fine line between love and hate, and maybe we crossed it a long time ago.
I never thought I could detest someone so much, until the day I realized I was falling in love with you.
We may fight like enemies, but deep down, we both know that our hearts beat for each other.
You infuriate me, challenge me, drive me crazy, but damn it, at the end of the day, I can’t resist you.
It’s that tension that makes this so irresistible.
You’re like an addiction I can’t break free from, even if I wanted to.
You’re the thorn in my side, the fire in my veins, and I can’t help but crave your presence in my life.
Loving you feels like a dangerous game.
You infuriate me, yet you’re the only one who truly understands me.
You scare me to my core.
There’s no denying the fire that burns between us.
If any two men desire the same thing, which nevertheless they cannot both enjoy, they become enemies.
I thought we had agreed not to lie to each other.
Tell me you don’t feel this between us. Look at me and don’t look away while saying it.
You claim me your enemy and yet, let me crawl into your bed every night.
You are the bane of my existence, and the object of all my desires.
Do you even know all the ways a lady can be seduced? The things I could teach you.
I did not asked for this. To be plagued by these feelings.
I tried to deny it for so long, but I don’t want to anymore.
Follow me around. Look at me as if you find me fascinating. Touch me, and say nice things to me. And then, you pull away as if you did nothing at all.
There’s no need for these games.
Well, you know that old saying, “Keep your friends close and make out with your enemies.
You read me wrong. I wasn't trying to lead you on.
Is that all I am to you? A resource to be used in your scheme?
Stolas, don't act like what we have is anything more than you wanting me to fuck you, okay? You make that really clear all the time. But I just- I can't do it tonight, okay?
You'll lay a man out for implying I'm a whore, but you keep calling me one to my face.
So, the only man that can have you is one who's already tried to kill you. That's logic.
It's like a little death. Several, in fact.
Oh Max, if you really hated Kyle you couldn't have slept with him.
So go on... kiss me... kill me... Do something.
I've often wondered what this moment would be like. Me... you tied up.
Once this is over, we should really have angry sex.
Hate and love are not so very different things. Both are focused upon another. Both are intense. Both are passionate.
It just means you'd rather be with someone you hate... than be with me.
She's difficult and irritating, and she tries to hit me all the time.
We have a deal, what are you so afraid of?
Only I can hurt you this way. Only I can kiss you like this.
You dragged me down and now I can’t quit you.
This is the last time we do this.
Last night was also the last time. And yet, you keep coming back.
Better my mouth than my knife, right?

bak shifted his weight against the worn hallway wall, the vintage interior offering little comfort. the exertion of walking and the unexpected pursuit had left him slightly winded, but his curiosity remained as yunsook explained the situation.
he couldn't help but suppress a snort at the revelation that the silent man was a singer. it seemed incongruous with the few words he had sparingly shared with bak. doyun's vocal talent was a surprise, to say the least. "ah," bak acknowledged with a nod. "he certainly possesses the voice of an angel, judging by the few words I've heard from him." returning doyun's bow, bak extended his hand for a formal handshake. "nice to formally meet you. I'm bak, physics phd candidate," he introduced himself with a friendly smile.
doyun side eyes bak, clearly annoyed - even though still appearing emotionless - by that damsel in distress comment. something that makes yunsook laugh as well. "has the damsel introduced himself to you?" yunsook asks, not waiting for doyun's eventual shake of his head to do it anyways, "you know that band that i work with? that i always tell you about?" while collecting his things and hopping up from the ground again yunsook grins pointing at doyun who's now crossed his arms, "he's the singer of that band!" funny considering how little doyun talks that he's one of the two singers, but that didn't seem to phase yunsook in the slightest hopping over to sling his arm over doyun's shoulders. "say hi doyun, this is my friend bak!" doyun pauses looking at yunsook for a bit, before silently bowing his head in at least some form of hello.

dylan couldn't help but let out a snort, the sound carrying more amusement than mockery. "peaceful weeks? In this chaotic world? have you kissed at least?" he chuckled, shaking his head. "but seriously, Aria, what if it all goes south? better to dive in and figure it out than wonder 'what if' later on."
he leaned back, his gaze drifting over the bustling cafe around them. at twenty-seven, he figured he had some time before life really started knocking on his door with its big questions. "isn't that what our twenties are for? figuring stuff out, taking risks?" he mused aloud, a half-smile playing on his lips.
glancing back at Aria, dylan's expression softened. She was one of the constants in his life, a steady presence amid the ever-changing tides. "you know, aria, you're one of the few people whose opinion I actually care about," he admitted, a note of sincerity in his voice.
his grin widened as he imagined the conversations happening around them. "yeah, they're probably wondering how we manage to be so darn awesome," he quipped, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "or maybe they're just envious of my impeccable hair," he added with a playful wink.
“I don’t know if he’s Mr. nice guy worthy just yet.” She grinned and looked towards the bar for a moment, eyes drifting to the two people they were conversing about. “It’s been a peaceful couple weeks with him, haven’t gotten to the… good stuff just yet.” Aria nearly mumbled the very last part. After knowing Dylan for so long she felt comfortable enough to say whatever crossed her mind no matter how vulgar or strange.
Jess looked kind and he certainly seemed smitten with her. The word ride made her face drop, preparing to make an inappropriate comment about it but he beat her to it. Bringing up the one thing she knew “Glad to hear you’re satisfied at least.” She rose a brow as her eyes finally met his again. “Wonder what they’re saying about us.”

as gigi pondered, a question surfaced in her mind. why was matty friends with someone like her? she, a socially anxious homebody, whose only allure out of the house might be the promise of her favorite band or a good cup of coffee. "matty, why are you friends with me?" she asked, her tone tinged with genuine curiosity. yes, they were quite different in many aspects – their hobbies, jobs, and lifestyles seemed worlds apart. yet, gigi couldn't help but feel that their bond was grounded in shared values of friendship.
shrugging off the weight of the question, she continued, "anyways, dealing with the morning rush isn't so bad. once that crowd disperses, it's just us and the occasional straggler. and izzy works her magic on them," she remarked, taking a sip of her soju. "i'm mostly in the back, hiding from the chaos," she added with a chuckle.
gigi's curiosity sparked as matty offered to regale her with stories. "alright, spill the tea. What's the wildest thing you've done and actually enjoyed?" she inquired, eager to hear his tales.
"i'm serious g, it was just something i was curious about is all." of all the people around her why did she decide to be friends with him? they were a good match, and matty definitely wasn't mad about their friendship, but it did seem a little weird if he looked at it objectively. their work was nothing alike, they both liked very different things for the most part, and yet they were still able to be friends. was that really okay? he doesn't know, but he's not going to question it any more instead focusing on her teasing him about his job. "running a coffee shop is totally kick-assery! everyone needs to get their coffee fix from somewhere and you have to deal with so many people - shiiiiiit i don't think i could ever do that!" she had worked a few retail jobs before her current one but it wasn't the same. dealing with the customers and running the shop? "nope doing all that is totally out of my knowledge." matty's job is probably easy in comparison to that, and he definitely made a lot more money than a lot of the students in his class, so he'd forever applaud her for being able to keep up with everything she does. matty kicks her leg a bit, jokingly, "girl, you know you can always ask me stories about anything. i like to share."

"ah, aria and mr. nice guy," dylan chuckled, his grin widening as he leaned back in his seat. "well, let's just say he's got the charm and the manners, you know? the whole package."
he glanced at aria with a playful twinkle in his eye. "Oh you know Jess, always up for an adventure. nothing too serious, just enjoying the ride." dylan's words held a hint of mystery, suggesting that while he was content with the casual nature of their relationship, there might be more to it beneath the surface.
but dylan was known among his friends, especially aria, as someone who didn't take things too seriously. he wouldn't be surprised if she felt a twinge of pity for the girl he'd brought along, but dylan made sure to treat Jess well. It was all just some casual fun before they hit their thirties, or so he convinced himself. "we've only been together for a few months, but things are going smoothly. she gives great head."
“He’s very nice.” Aria replied while leaning closer to the table to hear him better over the loud voices in the bar. She thought it would be fun to go out, especially with one of her favorite people. “And what about you? Is it everything you’ve ever wanted.” She questions him while her eyes roam his face, seeing the way he reacts to the question.
