I see you. I see what you’re getting at.
I’ve got bumps on my head and cracks on my teeth and blood vessels about to burst from all the absolute RAGE you fucks are sending me to.
Stop guessing what I’m about to say. You don’t know shit and you don’t know that you don’t know shit. I hate every incompetent word coming out of your face. My mask is already so, so very cracked. I’m sick of having to be so goddamn polite and pretty and poised and poisoned with perfume and makeup just to placate these absolute shit-hogs that clog the arteries of my field.
I don’t want any help. I want all of you fucks to stay out of my hair. Do not call me. Do not send me messages. Leave me alone. I don’t want a consultant. I want absolute silence. Absolute peace. A place without time. Oblivion.

I love logs. Give me all the logs, please. Pour them in a gigantic lake and let me fish. I’m so fucking hungry for more logs. Don’t keep them sequestered to servers, endpoints and network devices I can’t access. I can’t help you without the logs. I’m sitting here with my hammer and nails, but there’s no wood, and yet they keep telling me to build a house. Don’t blame me for not getting results from the SIEM if you’re not giving me any material to work with!
I also love sensor data, firewall alerts and the like. Give them to me. Let me see what’s going on. I can help you. I can take a load off your shoulders. Stop whining that you have a pile of alerts no one is monitoring, I’m right here sitting on my damn hands out of boredom.

dark and light academia alone won’t cut it as a spectrum. no, technical staff exist on a different plane altogether. we’re wallpaper academia. literally keepers of the walls.
to the vast majority, we are poorly written, out-of-date guides and policies. we’re so inexplicably separated from your daily activities, you only remember us when something doesn’t work.

nice things as of late.
thrifted a really neat-looking mid-00s panasonic cd player/radio for our bedroom. it’s got a cool motorized cd lid, decent speakers, eq and timer options. besides, it was cheap as chips.
been listening to yura yura teikoku cds i brought from japan. still mad good shit, though it makes me lay down in strange positions. just crashing wherever.
also re-learned how to make mix cds on imgburn. thank goodness hubs still has a burner installed.
i love cds?? digital sound isn’t so bad?? it can complement my analog collection just fine??
though can’t imagine ymo on digital. some things will not work.
tokimeki memorial is neat and my japanese is good enough to enjoy it without too much hassle. getting there.
not so nice things.
need to sign up for driver’s ed. terrified terrified terrified. i don’t want to drive in the city at all. scared of being an older student as well.
sick of customers lacking common sense. no, son, that’s no hacker jamming away on your keyboard, it’s a coffee mug on the esc key.
sick of microsoft. loathe sentinel, slow as molasses, expensive, glacial.
home office == good. open plan office shithole == no. whats the point of coming in and just wearing noise cancelers all day? just send me a teams message or call me, my number’s in the directory.
i’m jealous of the server team. i want to be there. i want to script, program, schedule, monitor, fix, install, that’s me! this polite customer-policy-mail-whine shit is not.

hi, i’m lily. my day job: cybersecurity in academia. i love learning, old computers and console games, film photography, japanese tv dramas/cinema, cooking and thrift stores.
here you shall find 56k modems and lace doilies, ribbons, kittens, cookies, pink dresses, linux, dusty server closets and creaky floppy drives! something you’d find when visiting your cyborg grandma in the late 2050s. enjoy your visit.
