The world faded into a blur as Rook plunged blindly into the darkness of the labs. He flew past countless doors, taking turns at random. Some dim part of his mind was aware that this was foolish, that he might be running towards more monsters. Towards his death. Most of him didn’t care. Maybe if he died, he would wake up from this nightmare.  After a while his boots’ magic faded. His speed slowed to a crawl, and he stumbled. His foot caught on a fungal root and he tipped forwards, slamming into the ground. As he sat up and looked around, Rook knew he was far, far from the room where he’d started. Good, he thought, the party won’t be able to find me.

I've always thought that this scene (which was nearly a year ago now, holy shit) from Rook's campaign would make a really cool render. But I didn't really have a great idea for how to pull it off. And then I was browsing my game and found a bunch of fantasy plants and mushrooms by @radioactivedotcom that I apparently forgot I had, and it all starting falling into place. A little bit of blender advice from @goldenwaves set me on the right track to getting all of the plants to glow. And then I got it into photoshop, and boom!! My boy's miserable day came to life! I'm pretty damn happy with how it came out, actually.

Lily in Wonderland: Fickle Feline Companion

Story under the Cut:

First Visit --

On Lily's first visit to Wonderland, she encounters the eccentric Dahlia, who refers to herself here as the Cheshire Cat. However, unlike many of the other familiar faces Lily meets in this strange land, this version of Dahlia is not too different from her counterpart in the real world; just like her real self, the Cheshire Cat often speaks in a self-aggrandizing manner and injects riddles into her speech that Lily struggles to decipher, and, at times, doubts even Dahlia understands. And, despite never stating otherwise, the Cheshire Cat takes it upon herself to insist that she is a cat and that her human form is merely a guise, not unlike how the real Dahlia insists that she is really a Vampire.

They do differ, though, in that this "Cheshire Cat" is undoubtedly magical in the way she vanishes as swiftly as she appears after guiding—or perhaps deceiving—the girl, leaving her even more lost than before their encounters.

The Cheshire Cat's ability to appear and disappear into various places on a whim proved most useful when Lily was on the chopping block to be executed by the Queen of Hearts, with the Cheshire Cat swooping in just in time to distract the Queen and allow the girl to escape through the gateway to reawaken in her own world. However, as she sat up at her desk, reflecting on her dream, Lily couldn't help but notice that the Queen and Cheshire Cat's ways of addressing each other seemed oddly familiar, and that the Queen appeared to take the rescue as a personal betrayal of some sort ...

Second Visit --

Come Lily's next visit to Wonderland, she encounters the Cheshire Cat again, who seems largely unaffected by the barely subtle melancholy wafting over the world following the battle for the crown. However, Lily notices a bit of hesitation behind the "cats" words when asked about her part in all of it, and while she claims she has no allegiance to the former Queen, it's very easy for anyone to figure out where her loyalty lies ...

On another note, a mysterious black cat has begun to appear in areas of Wonderland where the Cheshire Cat is not present, leading to speculation that it is the Cheshire Cat's true form that she often brags about. However, because the cat is unable, or possibly unwilling, to answer any questions, Lily wonders if its sudden appearance was merely a coincidence, and if it is simply a normal cat in an abnormal world after all.

As storytellers, there are so many pieces of our craft and I'm curious how you would rank each step of the process.

Rank each of the following on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 lowest, 5 highest):

• Setting up the scene (building sets, decorating, etc) • Posing the sims (creating / find poses, and setting up the sims) • Styling the sims (cc hunting, time spent in cas) • Writing the dialogue/story • Editing the photos.

Hey-o! I have admittedly taken step back from story telling on simblr (which I'll just explain more in tags lol) but that doesn't mean I don't have opinions on this sips tea

I'll admit I'm a little unsure of the scaling so I'll rank most fav to least fav lol

Styling sims, best part, 10/10, I love you visual aides

Writing cause I always enjoy writing

Setting scene; can be a pain but also fun and again I like my visuals

Editing (it's a pain but also can be fun)

Posing lol I always found this hardest especially when I have something specific in mind
