sometime in november, he runs into money troubles. i am quite literally eating him out of house and home, and he needs to pay the bills. so he puts me on a diet, carefully and incrementally. i tolerate it at first. he knows i know, and he sleeps fitfully, often waking to see my big face just staring at him.

when the police find me polishing off his bones, they don't hesitate to open fire. after all, i am a dangerous beast that only an idiot would keep as a pet. i do pity him though, despite his folly; he would likely have lived if not for the human sins of capitalism. the bullets miss, mostly. one grazes the top of my head, sending blood into my eyes. i swipe a paw at an officer and erase his face as easy as a chalkboard. another bullet burrows into the joint of my shoulder, and i flee, crashing through a window and landing painfully on my feet two stories below.

they will not catch me, infection will. i die in the woods only after snapping the neck of a deer, its blood mixing with mine as i sate my hunger.

a little over a year before the Accident, i play a bit too rough with him during a livestream. he loses his cool, yelping and smacking my nose in panic. its the first time anyone has seen him hit me. he tries to play it "educational", narrating why he thinks i did it through shaky gasps, blood running down his chest. i stare at him blankly. do i love him? of course i do. but for a moment he was moving-like-prey.
