truth  be  told,  the   questions  that  were  thrown  at  him  required  a  lot  of  thinking   —   something  that  he’s  not  capable  of  doing  in  most  situations.   “   so...   by  something  else,  are  you  talking  about  going  into  career  that  doesn’t  involve  music  at  all  ?   like  if  i  were  to  quit  the  band  and  become  an  accountant,  or  something  ?   ”    link  raises  an  eyebrow,  obviously  now  attached  to  the  topic  at  hand.   “   but  drumming,  or  any  kind  of  band  stuff,   always  feels  exhilarating  to  me.   like  experiencing  something  for  the  first  time,  but  over  and  over  again.   it’s  the  kind  of  feeling  that’s  addicting  and...  never  gets  old.   that’s  how  it  feels.   am  i  making  sense  ?   ”    he  chuckles  sheepishly  before  grabbing  a  nearby  fork  to  mix  the  pasta  together,    “   what  about  you,  what  kind  of  feeling  does  fashion  give  you  ?   exhausting,  calming,  or  no  feeling  at  all  ?   ”

      silas   isn’t   one   to   show   make   a   show   of   his   personal   belongings   (   nor   invest   much   into   himself   with   material   goods   )   but   boy   was   he   fucking   swooning   over   the   new   soundsystem   he   was   eagerly   toying   with   in   the   presence   of   the   one   person   in   his   life   he   knew   would   appreciate   it    .      “   i   mean   you   hear   this   bass   and   he   just   fucking   wails   on   it   man   like   ,   ”     he   lets   out   a   groan   of   excitement   ,   anesthesia   -   pulling   teeth   from   metallica’s   album   blaring   through   the   speakers   .     “   you   feel   that   shit   and   it   feels   like   it   changes   your   heart   rate   .   ”     he   knows   he’ll   get   a   noise   complaint   eventually   ,   but   between   the   screams   at   creepers   destroying   their   villages   and   late   night   album   listening   parties   ,   seeing   link   in   the   lobby   should   be   indication   enough   that   things   are   bound   to   get   loud   .      “   you   have   to   teach   me   how   to   play   something   ,   i   learned   the   first   like   ,   six   notes   of   welcome   to   the   black   parade   like   any   good   kid   with   a   keyboard   in   his   house   but   that’s   the   limit   .   ”

“   ...   dude.   is  this  real  ?   ”    the  words  are  soft   (   but  still  loud  enough  to  be  heard  ),  as  the  music  leaves  link  in  complete  awe.    as  someone  who’s  never  experienced  listening  to  music  like  this   —    all  he  wanted  to  do  at  this  point  is  put  on  a  playlist  and  bask  in  the  experience.    “    oh  fuck.    ”    with  the  drums  finally  kicking  in,  his  mind  goes  haywire.   “   forget  it  feeling  like  it’s  changing  your  heart  rate,  it  actually  does.   this  is  dangerous,  si.   i  might  have  to  steal  this  from  you  while  you’re  sleeping.   ”    there’s  so  much  excitement  bubbling  within  him  that  he’s  practically  gushing,  but  it  seems  like  it’s  a  normal  thing  when  these  two  are  together.   the  best  part  ?   there’s  no  judgement  for  it.    upon  hearing  what  came  next,  he  couldn’t  help  but  laugh.   “   yeah,  you  want  to  ?   maybe  the  whole  band  could  teach  you  how  to  play  their  instruments.   that  way,  we  could  also  have  you  as  our  honorary  member  in  case  one  of  us  calls  off  sick.   the  only  downside  is  that  you’d  have  to  commit  to  band  practice  every  night.   but  hey,  it’s  also  free  content  for  your  channel.   i  can  see  the  clickbait  titles  now.   ”

    it was definitely a pinch me , i must be dreaming moment . one minute she’s sitting in the interview chair , smiling for the cameras as they ask questions about her personal life– most likely fishing for rumor material . cambrie notes that the interviewer has a peculiar interest in one celebrity crush the youtuber herself has mentioned more than a handful of times . they were rather adamant about getting cam’s feelings on the topic , which amused cam more than anything . after gushing about her affinity for the band my time and her particular interest in their drummer , cambrie’s prompted to check behind a mysterious curtain for a “surprise she might like” . an odd request , sure , but she’s willing to go along with it for the sake of the interview . unexpectedly she’s met with link himself sat at a table set for two , and cambrie doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry because what the hell is going on ? so there she is , sat across from her aforementioned celeb crush , trying to compose herself after a giggle fit because truly– is this really happening ? “y’know with all those times i joked about going on a first date , i never imagined it would be like this .” her head shakes in disbelief before it tilts to the side , “please tell me you didn’t hear me go off about how fluffy your hair is , that would be embarrassing .”

when  the  idea  was  first   proposed  to  him,   he  thought  it  was  a  joke.   that  if  he  agreed  to  being  a  part  of  the  bit,   it’d  result  to  him  being  punk’d.   yet   —   link  was  completely  wrong.   instead  he’s  here,   sitting  with  cambrie  harlow   in  front  of  him,   and  he’s  desperately  trying  to  hide  the  fact  that  he’s  staring  at  her  all  googly-eyed.    out  of  all  the  times  he’s  clearly  mentioned  that  he’s  crushing  on  the  influencer   (   the  tweets  and  instagram  comments  were  more  than  enough  to  prove  it  ),   he  didn’t  expect  their  first  meeting  to  go  this  way.   still,  it’ll  definitely  be  one  of  those  things  that  becomes  unforgettable  for  everyone.    “   well,  i  did  say  that  our  first  date  would  be  memorable,  so...   ”    he  quips  playfully  with  a  laugh,  obviously  nervous  as  he  absentmindedly  fumbles  with  the  unbuttoned  portion  of  his  dress shirt.   “   am  i  meeting  your  expectations  ?   have  i  wooed  you  yet  with  my  good  looks,  charm,  and...  incredibly  fluffy  hair  ?    ”    with  him  gradually  relaxing,  he’s  able  to  ease  himself  into  the  flow  of  the  conversation.    and  while  he’s  sending  a  constant  reminder  to  himself  that  this  was  a  bit  at  the  end  of  the  day,   a  part  of  him  wants  to  take  this  seriously.   just  in  case.   clasping  his  hands  together,  he  takes  a  glance  at  the  set  of  flash  cards  presented  in  front  of  them  before  picking  one  up.   a  soft  chuckle  leaves  his  lips.   conversation  starters.    “   what  initially  made  you  interested  in  me   ?   ”    he  reads,  and  the  crowd  roars  in  excitement.   “   you  don’t  have  to  answer...   but  it  says  here  i’m  allowed  to  draw  a  tattoo  on  you  with  a  sharpie  if  you  don’t.   so  choose  wisely,  miss  harlow.    ”

as the silence overcame the two of them her smile never faltered once though she did glance down at his hands that kept her held in place. when he let go she gave a small cough as she looked down for a mere moment. how long had it been since she had last seen link? she couldn’t even tell you but it felt like old conversations flooded all her senses for the mere moment. looking back up she shook her head a bit, “i’ve been good. keeping busy, finishing a show so i’m back in new york now.” she said softly. she shook her head again now looking down as she clasped her hands together, “uh … no. we actually ended things… i ended things with him awhile ago.. the fighting got to be too much for me.” she said softly shrugging before she looked back up at link, “how are you? you good?”

there  was  this  overwhelming   feeling  that  surged  within  him,  and  while  he  made  his  best  attempt  in  keeping  his  composure,   it  only  made  his  presence  look...  awkward.    all  his  head  could  play  was  the  last  conversation  they  had   —   how  stupid  he  was  being.    but  that  was  ages  ago.   if  link  was  lucky,  maybe  she’d  forgotten  by  now.    “   yeah  ?   a  modelling  gig  ?   ”    he  begins,  hands  now  tucked  into  his  jacket’s  pockets.    “   how  long  are  you  going  to  be  back  for  ?    we  should  catch  up  sometime.   ”    his  gaze  continues  to  stay  focused  on  hers,   nodding  once  in  a  while  as  she  spoke,  but  his  entire  body  freezes  hearing  the  news.    “   oh.   ”    it  was  all  he  could  manage  to  say.   “    that  sucks,  sorry.    you  deserved  better,  anyway.   ...  are  you  okay  ?    ”    she  did.   she  really  did.    sucking  in  a  short  breath  at  her  question,  he  rubs  the  back  of  his  neck.    “    yeah,  i’m  good.    we’re  getting  ready  for  a  tour,  leaving  next  month  i  think.   so...   if  you  want  tickets,  let  me  know.   i’ll  hook  you  up.   ”

the  corners  of  his  lips   tug  upward  once  he  begins  to  reminisce  of  that  night.     all  he  could  recall  was  the  feeling    —    high  on  adrenaline  after  leaving  the  stage,  the  little  details  didn’t  seem  to  matter.    link  nods  in  response.    “    that  night  didn’t  feel  real...   it  was  one  of  the  best  nights  the  band’s  had,  all  thanks  to  you.    you  took  a  chance  on  my  time  even  when  their  drummer  looked  stupid  in  his  smudged  eyeliner.    ”    playfully,   his  body  leans  in  slightly  to  give  the  other  a  soft  nudge.    and  at  her  confession,  he  couldn’t  help  but  fall  into  a  fit  of  laughter.    “   almost  ?    you  should’ve.   if  anything,  i  would’ve  used  it  as  a  way  to  get  your  number,  or  something.    but...   a  part  of  me  feels  like  you  would’ve  banned  me  from  the  am.    so  maybe  it  all  worked  out  for  the  best.    ”

“ hey,  hey, ”  east  recognized  the  figure  whose  shoulder  he  tapped  with  his  mint - painted  fingers,  at  least…  from  behind,  …  he  thought  he  did.  resting  his  chin  on  the  other’s  shoulder,  he  whispered  in  an  all - too - urgent - sounding  manner,  “ so  i  think  my  cats  have  been  reading  my  diary.  they’ve  totally  been  —  oh!  hello! ”  east  beamed  when  the  anonymous  being  turned  towards  him. 

an  amused  grin  lingers   across  link’s  lips  upon  listening  to  whatever  his  roommate  had  to  say,  which,  most  of  the  time  never  ceases  to  entertain  him.    “   your  cats  have  been  ...   what  ?    ”    he  repeats  in  disbelief,  on  his  best  attempt  to  suppress  the  laughter  bubbling  within.    this  time  he  sets  aside  the  sandwich  he’d  been  working  on  before  fully  turning  around  to  face  the  other,  eyebrow  cocked  in  slight  confusion.    “    east,  be  honest  with  me.   have  you  been  teaching  them  how  to  read  ?    because  if  you  are,  that’s  fucking  amazing.     ”

“yeah no.. listen we’ll talk later i have to go something came up.” she said into the phone not even giving the other person she was talking to a chance to speak. there wasn’t even a real reason she just needed her coffee fix before she listened to her mother go on about something her father needed her for. she was to invested in her phone that she hadn’t even seen him coming if she had she would have moved out of the way but instead she bumped right into her causing her to stumbled back and in the moment she probably would have blamed them she knew it was her fault, “i’m so sorr-” she stopped as she looked up and her features softened as she looked at the male in front of her, “link.. hey sorry i should really stop looking at my phone and walking.” she said softly with a smile.

it  felt  as  if  everything   happened  in  a  flash    —    luckily,  he  was  quick  enough  to  catch  himself,  and  the  person  who’d  bumped  into  him  too.    typically  rough  mornings  like  these  warranted  for  the  bad  attitude  that  was  waiting  to  burst,  but,  the  sound  of  the  familiar  voice  entering  his  ears  did  the  complete  opposite.   instead,  his  lips  press  into  a  thin   (   but  genuine   )   smile.    “    hey  aurora,   ”    link  greets  warmly,   trying  to  keep  his  composure.    for  a  moment,   it  was  as  if  he  almost  forgot  how  to  act  without  being  painfully  awkward.    “    you  really  should,   ‘cause  what  if  i’m  not  there  to  catch  you  ?   it’d  be  a  tragedy.    ”   things  went  radio  silent  for  a  while,   and  he  realized  he  was  still  holding  onto  her,   which  causes  him  to  quickly  release  and  mask  his  embarrassment  with  a  laugh.    “    how’ve  you  been,  though  ?   are  you  and  ...    ”    talking  about  it  felt  like  pulling  teeth,   “   doing  good  ?    i  haven’t  heard  from  him  in  a  while.    ”

seong  hyunjae  (  later  given  the  english  name  lincoln  seong...  thanks  linkin  park  !   )   was  born  in  the  heart  of  busan,  south  korea.    his  parents  married  at  the  age  of  21,  due  to  the  cultural  expectations  of  having  a  child  born  out  of  wedlock.    while  things  seemed  to  be  smooth  sailing  for  a  while,   the  couple  realized  the  real  struggles  of  adulthood.   financial  issues  came  into  play.   stress  from  working  multiple  jobs  every  single  day  took  a  toll  on  their  mental  health,  as  well  as  their  relationship  with  each  other.   link’s  mother  began  to  develop  an  alcohol  addiction,  and  her  abusive  behavior  came  following  after.   their  home  was  falling  apart,  with  four-year-old  link  falling  asleep  to  muffled  screaming  and  glass  being  thrown  on  the  next  room  over.   his  father  was  able  to  withstand  it  for  a  while,  but  he  drew  the  line  after  coming  home  from  work  to  see  large  cuts  on  the  side  of  his  son’s  thigh,  and  a  bruise  forming  across  his  cheek.   that  was  when  he  knew  his  wife  was  dangerous.    so,  one  night  when  lincoln’s  mother  as  at  work,  he  packed  his  belongings,  grabbed  link,  and  left  without  looking  back.

for  a  while,  it  was  just  the  two  of  them.    they  found  ways  to  make  it  work,  and  despite  the  fact  that  it  was  a  constant  struggle,  his  father  never  wanted  link  to  lose  his  childhood.    in  fact,  his  father  gave  him  everything  he  could  give   —   but  most  importantly,  as  cheesy  as  it  sounds,  his  unconditional  love  and  support.    as  someone  who  lost  his  own  parents  young,  he  made  sure  that  link  would  never  feel  like  he’s  being  deprived of  that,  ever.   they  created  this  tight-knight  bond  because  of  that,  which  can’t  ever  be  broken.   and  now,  link’s  fondest  memories  always  involved  spending  time  with  his  father.    one  favorite  memory  of  his  involved  morning  jam  sessions  after  breakfast.    link’s  father  was  previously  a  lead  guitarist  in  a  garage  band  with  a  few  of  his  high  school  friends,  so  while  he  was  playing  riffs  on  his  electric  guitar,  eight-year-old  link  would  be  banging  the  coffee  table  with  plastic  straws.   

when  link  was  about  ten,  he  and  his  father  sold  all  of  their  belongings  and  moved  all  the  way  to  jefferson,  connecticut  for  a  job  offer  that  he  couldn’t  refuse.   fast  forward  a  few  years,  and  he’s  a  teenager  in  high  school.    growing  up  link  was  more  of  an  introvert,  and  would  spend  his  time  in  the  computer  lab  playing  video  games  or  browsing  in  online  forums.   he  was  a  regular  in  this  my  chemical  romance  forum  (  under  the  username  @hyperlink  ),  and  made  a  lot  of  his  lifelong  friends  over  there.    one  of  his  online  friends  jokingly  suggested  one  afternoon  that  they  should  start  a  band  over  their  nightly  skype  call,  and  while  it  was  initially  shrugged  off  as  dream  more  than  an  arm’s  reach  away,  my  time  was  born.    link  had  to  endlessly  plead  his  father  to  buy  him  a  secondhand  drum  kit  off  of  craigslist  for  christmas.   but  once  he  found  it  under  their  tree  that  year,  it  sparked  this  drive  in  him  to  learn  and  practice  nonstop. 

their  first  official  band  practice  happened  a  day  after  link’s  high  school  graduation  (  which  was  also  the  first  time  everyone  saw  each  other  in  person  !   ),  and  they  spent  that  entire  summer  making  music.   at  first,  link  only  thought  of  it  as  a  hobby...  since,  he  was  attending  his  first  year  of  university  that  fall.   but  after  playing  their  first  few  shows  and  making  all  these  memories,   he  couldn’t  keep  the  band  in  the  backburner.   he  dropped  out  not  too  long  after  to  pursue  his  music  career  full-time.   moved  out,  spent  the  next  few  months  working  long  shifts  at  the  local  amusement  park,  and  shared  one  two-bedroom  apartment  with  his  bandmates.    one  of  their  songs  went  viral  one  crazy  night,   and  the  next  thing  they  knew,  they  were  being  signed  into  a  record  label.   now  ?   they’re  one  of  the  biggest  alternative/indie  rock  bands  out  there  with  multiple  platinum  records,  sold  out  world  tours,  and  millions  of streams  each  year.   their  time  finally  came.

↳     THE  INSIDE  LOOK:    PERSONALITY.

link  definitely...  gets  babied  a  lot   (  by  his  bandmates  and  his  fans  ),   and  he  uses  that  to  his  advantage  :]   because  of  that  he  gets  away  with   a  lot  of  things,  but  it’s  usually  with  things  that  are  small  like  eating  the  last  slice  of  pizza  and  it  would  be  justified  with  “  no  he  is  a  growing  BOY  he  NEEDS  it  !  ”

that  being  said,  he  eats  nonstop.   the  guy  carries  a  sandwich  bag  full  of  cheerios  wherever  he  goes.   his  friends  know  that  if  they  can’t  finish  eating  something,  they  can  always  donate  it  to  link  for  a  good  cause.

when  my  chemical  romance  announced  their  reunion  tour  in  2019,  he  threw  his  phone  across  the  room  and  cried.   my  chemical  romance  (  with  green  day  and  linkin  park  as  a  close  second  !  )   are  his  all-time  favorite  bands,  and  a  lot  of  my  time’s  sound  is  heavily  inspired  by  them.

when  i  tell  u  that  this  man  is  so  chill,  i  mean  it.   like  things  could  LITERALLY  be  on  fire  and  he’d  be  like   “  just  throw  some  water  on  it  it’ll  be  fine  😎  ” ...  he’s  not  the  type  to  worry  about  things,  and  is  more  of  a  go  with  the  flow  type  of  person.   he  doesn’t  even  need  to  be  zooted  to  be  like  this.   KJFGDG

being  in  the  band  and  a  part  of  the  entertainment  industry  caused  a  small  shift  in  his  personality.   maybe  he  just  blossomed  ?   who  knows  !   but  because  he’s  been  exposed  to  the  rockstar  life,   he  was  able  to  open  up  more.   he’s  always  seeking  thrills,  big  or  small,  and  won’t  have  the  time  to  think  about  the  consequences  for  his  actions.  

because  the  my  chemical  romance  forum  that  was  once  his  second  home  shut  down,   he’s  since  moved  on  to  reddit.   social  media  isn’t  really  his  thing  (  and  his  fans  always  get  mad  at  him  for  posting  a  selfie  once  a  month  then  dipping  ),  but  catch  him  on  subreddits  making  comments  or  starting  fights  for  the  sheer  entertainment  of  proving  someone  wrong. 

this  might  sound  bad  but...  he  still  can’t  wrap  his  head  around  the  fact  that  he  isn’t  ?   financially  struggling  anymore  ?   even  if  he’s  already  bought  a  house  and  two  luxury  cars  for  his  dad,  he  still  gets  ticked  off  if  he  sees  something  small  like  an  APPLE   that  is  marked  a  dollar  and  a  few  cents  over  the  usual.   he  catches  himself  using  things  until  they’re  ABSOLUTELY  worn  out,  and  still  leeches  off  of  his  bandmates/friends  when  he  can.  <3   also,  if  something  is  broken,  he’ll  be  the  type  to  figure  it  out  and  fix  it  himself.

people...  don’t  exactly  remember  the  last  time  he’s  slept.   it  could  be  the  insomnia   (   it’s  definitely  insomnia,  thx  childhood   trauma  !   )  but  it’s  almost  gotten  to  the  point  where  he’s  afraid  to  fall  asleep  on  his  own.   he’ll  always  try  to  find  ways  to  sleep  in  someone’s  company,  even  if  it’s  just  him  crashing  on  a  couch  while  someone  is  watching  tv  right  there.   if  he’s  alone  though,  he’ll  always  try  to  find  ways  to  distract  himself  like  stream  for  10  hours  straight.

speaking  of  trauma...  he’s  also  scared  of  relationships.  after  witnessing  the  way  his  mother  treated  his  father,  he’s  cautious  of  history  repeating  itself...  but  with  him.  so  whenever  he  catches  himself  even  falling  for  just  a  little,  he  dips.

his  life  revolves  around  the  4  m’s:   marvel  movies,  minecraft,  music,  and  my  chemical  romance.   that’s  it.
