Just like promised, news arrived on Saturday! I was able to finally get some time to produce some quality content for you guys  Thanks for waiting!

Event/Pooping Clarification

- Admins discussed the situation and decided that mentioning Gifting/Pooping in usernames is fine. We will be reversing all reminders/warnings etc. issued to players. If you would like yours removed, make a Modbox ticket please. - Despite the above, we ask that you avoid asking for gifts/poop in chat, as it gets spammy. Please post event threads instead, which are fine to be posted (spaced out, of course) in Sales Chat, as it's essentially an exchange of goods. We really don't want Main Chat too flooded with this.

I tried to fit in a tiny mutation update - All Folded Ears stages should be up to date now, I realize probably some mane files for Tailless, Bobbed and Foldies might need few files updated, so I will try to cover that for the next time. Folded Ears females Panther marking have been lacking the tail spotting fix, which is now fixed. Mutation File Status Page I'd like to ask you guys to be sure to report all art bugs to Art Bug boards, as usually every few weeks I try to fix a lot of them for an Art Update and I think like Dec 15th would be a good time. So if you think something wasn't reported there yet (aside from the markings for muties or decors for poses) you will do me a great favour if you point out something is wrong with some art or a file that you think I can fix, and not a coder.

Applications

Art Tutorials and Useful Content

In Art Tutorials thread I have added two new big pictures and Timelapses/Speedarts, whatever you call them: Broken Leopon Battle NPC - NEW! Nervous Jaguar Battle NPC - NEW! SPEEDARTS / TIMELAPSES Nervous Jaguar Encounter + Battle picture - NEW! Broken Leopon Encounter + Battle picture - NEW! Two Owl Decors - NEW! I hope these will be useful to community on creation process and available full year round unlike art stream videos, which are deleted by Twitch and also, they last long hours unlike this handy timelapse. I will actually try to make more of these rather than art streams. I have been informed the Primal custom decor .psd file could use female versions so I will try to cover that next time!

December event starts on Dec 1st 00:00am and ends on 31st at 11:59pm. All event currency is always stored on your account until next year.

Giving and Pooping

It's the Season of Gifting! You can smell visit other players' dens and choose what you want to leave - once per player, and every Wednesday and Saturday the cooldown will reset - so you will be able to gift/poop in that player's den again. Gifting and pooping cooldowns will reset every Wednesday and Saturday just so you can gift the same people again. A real gift (items, SB, or GB) will push the Gifting Bar towards unlocking the tiers of the Guelta and raise your karma by 1 with each gift you leave. A poopy gift will raise the Poop Bar towards unlocks of the Mudpit and lower your karma by 1 with each poop you leave. Receiving poop this year won't be so shitty! I'll explain why later. We *think* goodie bags were fixed last year and can be gifted safely, but just to be sure, we'll keep an eye on them for the first day! Try to not advertise gifts/poops or ask for them in chat. You can fully unlock both bars, so don't worry - one does not exclude the other! However, there's a third bar below them - and it requires both bars to reach tier 1 in order to open! It also has 3 tiers in total - it's a Stink Bug Shop! Yay! Remember that you can open your den gifts starting on 25th December and ending on 31st, 11:59pm.

Stink Bugs?

Explore encounters are our typical poopy Lioden humour - we just go silly this month. :D Stink Bugs are our December currency - you gather them from new explore encounters (yes they do affect karma, but not all of them) and the poop bundles have a % chance of producing a Stink Bug when you open them! You can spend them in the new shop for all the fancy new decors and applicators as well as Jolly Pose applicator. NOTE: We might be adjusting the %'s from last year (in your favour, if we do) but that idea is waiting right now until another coding day. If we do tweak that part, you will be informed via one of the Friday news posts before the holidays arrive.

Event Specials

The Advent Calendar: The two sets we had in 2013-2016 rotated twice already and the decors are fairly available in the game all year round via market, we believe. In 2017 and 2018 we'd like to add new sets and rotate them as well! The previous decors might reappear in the game in special shops if we notice there's a demand for them. Advent decors are completely free, you just have to log in that day and claim the prize in the EVENT section! You must open them in order, but if you miss a day, don't worry - you'll be able to collect all the gifts as long as you click in the order! The Advent Calendar runs from the 22nd up until, and including, the 29th of December, but we leave it up until the 30th to make sure everyone gets a chance of collecting the gifts. - Albino explore encounters are a theme I wanted to put in to celebrate winter like most of our userbase. Some encounters might get an artistic update for this year around December 2nd, as they do look pretty outdated to me. - All poopy/muddy encounters we kept permanently were added 3 years ago - Elephant Dung, Dirty Warthog and Lion Scat, so they are nothing new really but this event is how they started :D - Mudpit items are still smelly and useless. But you can find treasures as well!

Something Builds Up...

The winter in Africa is... not really wintery. It's summer there, actually. But most Liodenians live in the northern hemisphere and we all love snow time. To somehow mix lion & user fun, something fluffy and white will appear very slowly, to not disturb the African feeling of the game. The more tiers you open, the more of it will appear in explore and other places, but not too much, and not yet. And then the Snuhlions will appear in the dens.

2017

- 6 new explore encounters including 2 battle ones with Stink Bug payout and a very rare chance. 3 encounters will appear right away, 1 encounter will show up for snow tier 1, and 1 encounter for tier 2 and 3 each. - One of the encounters will give you a unique, 1-time only achievement, items, and titles, that won't repeat/reward you other times when you see it. - 4 new decors from the Mudpit (tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3). - Arctic Base, Mane, and Markings for tier 3 in the Mantis Shop. - 13 new decors in the shop (they will unlock in the wardrobe/catalogue as the tiers are near opening). - Expect Shad to add new event tags soon!

Btw I know this Green Cub encounter is technically outdated because we did add a Green base... but it's not breedable. So I guess it can stay.  What do you think?

INFORMATION ABOUT DECEMBER 1ST FRIDAY - from Xylax I was so swamped with Black Friday work and event work on top of family stuff, that I just couldn't produce enough content for Friday update. And rather than just not having an update or having a tiny one, I decided to push it for December 2nd, (a Saturday update) and give you guys fun things done in that extra day. It's not much time but I think I will make something nice :D You shall be hugged with new shiny things until Art Update on 15th that will be more focused on the usual stuff like markings for muties and stuff ♥

Moderation Changes

We've noticed there's a culture of members going to different mods to try and get different answers, so we're trying to avoid that. We think the Modbox should be the center of any issues and questions to staff. We urge you to use that instead of PMing our staff. Because of that, we are giving our staff the ability to turn your PMs into tickets and handle you via Modbox in this new, awesome way that will also give you notifications. To avoid PMing mods too much though, we have removed the Staff Online list, and just keep the overall list which also emphasizes on using the Modbox rather than PMing staff members. From now on, moderation will be done via a unified moderator account. All current moderators will still have their paws, but when they're claiming tickets or issuing warnings, you will just see that a moderator is handling you. Changes are as follows: - Reminders in Chat will be turned into notifications rather than Mod posts - Reminders in Forums will be turned into notifications rather than Mod posts - Tickets in Modbox will be handled by a "Moderator" Tickets have been improved: - Claiming and resolving tickets will have individual date stamps. - Once a ticket has been solved, if you have any followup to the ticket for any reason, after 24 hours have passed there will be a button on the ticket that will allow you to make a new one which auto-links to the resolved ticket for reference. We hope this new system will allow players to be sure they're talking to the Moderator Team. We always consult each other and stay in touch as much as possible. We are individuals, but we work together and want to be sure you're always receiving a response from the whole team. EDIT: To calm down some players, administration can ALWAYS see which moderator is handling which player, ticket and so on. Mods can see it too. If you ever feel you have been wronged in the ticket, you can always link it when approaching admins <3

As Europeans, we don't really celebrate Thanksgiving, but as it's that time of year for the majority of our members, we'd like to say that we're extremely thankful for all of our amazing members. The ToS quiz turned out to be a little intrusive, so we decided to move it to Chat and Forums only, meaning that it will pop up only when new players access the social parts of Lioden; otherwise, they can rollover and experience the game first without any prompts :D Alongside this, we had it pointed out to us that a clause in our Terms of Service doesn't feel fair - a section that states that we do not have to issue a notice when the Terms are amended. Given that every update we make to the Terms comes automatically with a notification in the news, we have decided to amend this clause to better reflect our practices. ToS Update: The Terms of Service are subject to change at any time and Lioden will issue a notice of changes in the in-game news. If you do not agree with the Terms of Service, you must cease using the site immediately. By continuing to access Lioden you automatically agree to these Terms of Service, so we would recommend that you read them frequently to make sure you are aware of any changes. One more thing: Additionally, our new policy has removed the "Fine" option from the moderator tools, and we will no longer be issuing fines across accounts as a form of punishment. Steps will still be taken to withdraw additional currency if it was gained via an exploit or otherwise, but genuine currency will be left alone. We feel that it is no longer appropriate to issue in-game fines for poor behavior. Users may still be warned, temporarily suspended or banned if falling foul of the Terms of Service. All instances of fining have been removed from the Terms to reflect this. EDIT: Any new changes in ToS will display with dark red font.

Thanks for suggestions :D Something we updated a few days ago but we want to explain the bug fix: * Discarding items in stacks was making them stuck in a void - they have been mass dumped into Giving Tree upon fixing on the 21st, and discarding stacks will now work properly.

We normally wouldn't get involved with politics, and we ask for members to please try to remain politically neutral in the comments, but we feel this is important. Mutie on Demand: B&W Patches - this item will let you apply 1 out of 6 patterns to a chosen lion that does not have any mutation yet. The pattern will be picked randomly by the script and will show for example as: Piebald (Harlequin). Patterns are: Patches: Dense Paches: Frontal Patches: Croupe Piebald: Harlequin Piebald: Slender Piebald: Clouded NEW Black Patches - based on a somatic black patch mutation that appear in horses or even real lions, we've introduced a piebaldism colour counterpart, Patches. They are complementing piebaldism mechanics and will breed with it just as if it was a piebald. To be minimal in wardrobe we named the mutation "Patches" instead of "Black Patches". This means Piebald and Patches cannot appear together on the same lion. Artistically, I went for more fuzzy look in patches, like it's tearing the lion's colour apart a bit. It looks differently than Piebald that has more vivid edges. The Wardrobe received an update for this change and will display now Piebald/Patches dropdown:

Piebald or Patches, just like Overgrown Fur, have a small chance of passing (for both parents each!). It will always try to pass parent's pattern - but in a case of both parents having different Piebald/Patches patterns, it will be equal chance for either of them to pass separately. For those who missed that stream few months ago, I was sketching Primordial Dwarfism and talked about it being a mutation obtained in new way. Now you guys know that new way - just like Primals have mutation variations, Dwarfism would have a Primordial Dwarfism variation. It’s a great way to refresh dwarfism breeding.

I am planning for teen and adult stage to work for both male and female, with just a mane addiction, like leopon teen stage is right now.

It will  have a very hindering effect on gameplay of such lion since it is extremely tiny and stays the size of a cub for its whole life.

Bug Fixes!

* Angelic blessing can no longer be equipped and used on infertile lionesses. * Applying Angelic Blessing should now log in your User Log. * Applying piety markings to lions will no longer cause duplicated slot 1 markings. * Board ordering should now be fixed with “Recently Active” being the default view. Additionally, selecting “Recently Active” vs. “Recently Posted” should now display the correct ordering. * Copies of beetle skins are now properly sent out when approved. * Erelath’s encounter now shows properly in Explore. * Feline Ebony applicator properly logs markings applied. * Lowering your karma with the shamans correctly lowers it by -30, rather than raising it. * Piety markings can again be added to kings and frozen lions. * Piety markings will again apply to the first open slot. * Stud fees properly reset when piety markings are added to kings. * Using a Marking Replacer will no longer duplicate marking slots. * When rerolling kings (or rolling for the first time) broken images should no longer appear on the king preview, and new kings should not be rolled with empty marking slots. * Your heir’s personality will now overwrite your king’s when retiring and choosing to keep your king’s old appearance, as it should. * Fossil and Penumbra appeared as Solid bases - this has been fixed ***** Issues regarding impression and Whispering rewards - coder is currently working on that and it should be fixed today soon enough.

TOS QUIZ!

By popular suggestion, we have added a compulsory Terms Quiz. There are 9 fairly basic questions to answer about the Terms of Service and Code of Conduct, and in order to access the game all new and existing members must complete the quiz first. We are hoping this should help with remembering some of the more important rules for newer members, and act as a nice refresher for our veterans Suggestion

* Suggestion - Cubs sired will display in birth order (Newer cubs will appear on the bottom of the list). * Suggestion - Cubs bred will list mutations! * Suggestion - Hunter/Non-Hunter role has been added for Lionesses. Please note that you will need to set lionesses as Hunter before you are able to use them in hunts. * Suggestion - During stud requests you can now attach a message much like you can with a Transfer/Gift! * Suggestion - Longer Clan Raffle names will be allowed now! * Suggestion - You can now add/view notes on your blocked user list. * Some tweaks to tidy up the Hunting page have been made, reducing the amount of information displayed where you select lions and making a mini-FAQ at the bottom of the page. * The Allies page has also been broken down into 3 tabs - Allies, Pending Requests and Foes. * We have updated the Activation page for new members (and those of you who change your email address). Shad has updated avatar tags in November! **BUG FIX** - Raffled lions getting stuck should be *really* fixed. If you have anything stuck, PM Katze #3 for help! Possible new genetic group discussion - Please continue giving your input. There's a suggestion that inspired me to consider few options for a new genetic group called "Iridescent". I gave it a few deep thoughts and conversed with the admins and I figured it is best to create a separate, new thread for just discussion and your thoughts to gather as input. Few options I thought of are: - New Color Group (like Black, Cream etc) and move just a few bases such as Cinnabar etc + add new ones. Moved bases would be polled and would have breeding boosts with their previous colour groups. - New Shading Group (like Solid and Countershaded) and just move the colours like green, blue etc to new shade to make the breeding within same colour group easier for natural and colorbomb breeders. Discussion Thread with notes. Please do not discuss this idea in the News comments.

Bug Fixes

* If you have purchased a raffle ticket with an item and the raffle is cancelled, you should now correctly receive your ticket items back and receive a notification announcing the raffle cancellation. * When using the Random Marking Applicator on your main male, stud fees should now correctly be reset. * Lions with hidden markings should no longer show up in the trading center when searching for the marking.

Shad has updated avatar tags in Misc, November, Appreciation - she used a few user suggestions, thank you Berenos and Adee! Possible new genetic group discussion - Please continue giving your input. There's a suggestion that inspired me to consider few options for a new genetic group called "Iridescent". I gave it a few deep thoughts and conversed with the admins and I figured it is best to create a separate, new thread for just discussion and your thoughts to gather as input. Few options I thought of are: - New Color Group (like Black, Cream etc) and move just a few bases such as Cinnabar etc + add new ones. - New Shading Group (like Solid and Countershaded) and just move the colours like green, blue etc to new shade to make the breeding within same colour group easier for natural and colorbomb breeders. November Event!

November Event

This month, a bunch of nomadic lion shamans arrived from far away lands to provide their services. Not only humans believe that ancestors are linked spiritually to the living. Some lions believe they can talk to the spirits of those who passed during a trance. You can gain your Piety for Ancestors by doing deeds for lion shamans, and in return you will be granted spiritual rewards. Your Piety might unlock something special, so respect the spirits and they will provide. Alongside, you can gather a lot more of herbs in Explore for quests, nesting, crafting or your battle beetles!

Visit the Shamans On EVENT page, you can pay a visit to three shamans. Each is a bit different and will provide quests for you, daily. You can fulfil up to 3 deeds daily for them, and in return, gain piety (6-9 a day max). The Ancestors of lions who passed will reward lions who live and show piousness. You can exchange Piety points for mind & body enhancements.

We believe the rewards will make all players happy, no matter what part of lion's body they strive to improve. Crafting Fossils - in the Shaman Pit This feature is a restoration place where you can turn in 15 Ancient Fossils you find in explore from a Rockslide encounter, in order to get one of 4 random African dinosaur decors. Afrovenator Fossil found in Arid Desert, released during Karma Expansion, can also be crafted to get rare Afrovenator. 2016 introduced Cracked Fossil, which you can craft into 4 random African extinct animals, including two mammals. 2017 introduces Crumbled Fossil, which you can craft into 4 random African extinct animals, including the Dodo bird. Additionally, with 15 Cracked Fossils + 5 Crumbled Fossils you can craft a "Fossil Body" - a Fossil base applicator. Crafting Gems - in the Shaman Pit This feature will allow you to craft items from November gems: Rough Opal, Sparkling Opal, Fire Opal, Nuummite There are base, mane and eye applicators to craft! 2017 introduces Fire Opal and Nuummite stuff + extra small pendant jewelry based on a player suggestion. Visit the Shop In the shop you can exchange ScB (Scarab Beetles) for fancy items. The more Tiers you unlock in bar, the more fun stuff will appear! 2017 adds more decors, new series of Shamanic Tarot animals and Penumbra Base Changer. We have removed the herb/SB currency exchange as we believe the change we made is now two events old and is no longer a "new" change and new system has been adapted. Piety Bar Piety bar counts total piety gained in Lioden lands. It unlocks tiers that provide lions with awesome stuff for the shop and the Shaman Pit. Note that the marking will be added in the first free slot, so plan your designs carefully! All 2017 NCL event markings are updated in the Piety Ancestry list. Shaman Pit This mysterious pit is being prepared by shamans. The more piety lions show, the better the ritual's effect will become! 2017: Whispers in tier 3 have a chance of dropping Penumbra Body or Fur item along with last year's results. We have also added "Fossil Fur" as an extra this year. Explore During exploring, you might notice herbs to collect or encounters to interact with. Some are specific for quests, but won't do much if you're not on that particular quest. If you meet a Tsavo lion and defeat it, nothing besides a battle will happen. If you're on a quest to defeat a Tsavo Lion, though, and you win, the Quest will be fulfilled and you can return to the Shamans to complete the deed. 2016 update: Almost all encounters will grant you Scarab Beetles if you interact, including some battles! 2017 update: We have added 4 new NPC encounters to expand the lore a tiny bit.

Thanks for the suggestion for Tefnut/Tefnut encounter! You might have noticed you can turn your food into rawhide again - it is required for some quests.

November event starts at 1st Nov 00:00 am and ends at Nov 30th at 11:59pm. All unused currency will be stored on your account and appear again next year. Some time during November 1st we will run a mass rabies removal.
