Simon's Week 2025

Announcing Simon's Week 2025, 25 July to 1 August!

For Simon's birthday this year we're celebrating with music themed prompts - specifically, Omar Rudberg songs!

To participate, create (or finish) something new inspired by one of the below prompts and post on the appropriate day. Can be any kind of fanwork - fics, art, GIFs, edits or anything else you want! - and any theme/relationship(s)/characters as long as Simon is the main focus.

As always, you can be inspired by the prompt however you want; whether it's the whole song, the title, a single lyric, the video or artwork, or even just the vibe. If none of these songs inspire you, the final day of the week is a free day where you can post something inspired by any music you choose (not just Omar's!).

Announcing the first ever Young Royals Remix Exchange!

A remix is an event in which participants create fanworks based on other fanworks within the same fandom. This being a remix exchange means everyone will create something and everyone will get something!

So how exactly will it work?

1) To start, participants will have to sign-up using this form and mention up to three of their own fanworks that they'd like to see remixed. Any kind of creative fanwork is valid (no fandom analysis this time, sorry), as long as it has already been fully posted. It's also possible to mention anything you don't want included in the remix of your fanwork (for example, if you're not comfortable with your fic being turned into a podfic or if you don't want your fanart turned into a mature fic).

Sign-ups will be open from June 2 to June 20.

2) On June 22, 5pm UTC, a list of eligible fanworks (and their creators) will be made available. Participants will choose who they want to remix/gift on a first come, first served basis, and we'll be confirming them throughout the day (more info on that to come in the promtps post). Remaining anonymous to the person you're remixing/gifting is not required, but it is more fun. 😉

3) There will be two check-ins, one on July 19 and the other on August 16. This is to ensure that everything is going smoothly and that no one gets left behind. If anything happens and you need any kind of help to finish your fanwork, or if you need to drop out, you can let us know as soon as possible and we'll try to help in any way we can. But just in case, the check-ins are in place so that we can touch basis with everyone.

4) Posting will happen between September 1-7 (exact days to be assigned after the check-ins). For this event, along with tagging @youngroyals-events like you always do, you will also be tagging the creator of the original fanwork you're remixing. The tag #YRRE2025 can be used, along with any additional necessary tagging or warning.

5) Yes, there will be an AO3 collection, but, as always, including your fanwork in it is not mandatory, and neither is posting on AO3 itself. If you do, however, we strongly encourage you to post your creation as a gift to the creator of the original fanwork and/or to add a link to the original (both things can be done under Associations when posting).

6) For this event, there will be some minimum requirements (no maximum on anything!):

Fanfiction: 1000 words

Fanart: complete lineart

Gif or photo set: 8 gifs/photos without writing or 4 gifs/photos with writing

Video edits: 30 seconds

Fanmix: 6 songs + a cover

Podfic: the full original fic

7) If you'd like to create something, but don't want something of yours remixed (or don't have anything to be remixed yet), you can also choose one of the eligible fanworks to create something extra, with no minimum requirements. Just let us know you're making something and we'll include you in the posting schedule.

We are super excited to host this event and get the chance to create something based on some our favorite fanworks and for some of our favorite people! See you there!

A big THANK YOU to @little-fandom who allowed us to record the podfic for the fanfic "make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it"!

Summary: It’s Rosh’s idea to make a friendship bracelet with his number because apparently Simon has to live a little and he might find some cute guy at The Eras Tour show. So he goes through with it. And it might actually end up to be the best decision of his life. It’s Felice who drags Wille to the Taylor Swift concert and he’s feeling way less than enthusiastic about it. But apparently, he has to let loose. So that he does, and by the end of the night, he’s convinced he met the love of his life. Simon and Wille attend The Eras Tour separately, but the show brings them together. Quite literally. Or, friendship bracelets, surprise songs, dares, phone numbers and some total loser behaviour.

Is It New Years Yet?

A fun little strangers-to-lovers speedrun at a new year's eve party. As a treat after a long year that the YR fandom has made infinitely better for me. So, thank you all and here's to more fics next year! <3

When Wille entered the kitchen he stopped dead in his tracks in the door opening. The kitchen was empty except for the boy, the beautiful boy, who was standing at the counter, leaning against it and scrolling on his phone casually. This was Wille’s chance. The best he would get. He took a few breaths and stepped into the kitchen. “Hey,” Wille said. His voice was less steady than he would like. The boy looked up from his phone. It felt like his gaze was radiating heat that went directly to Wille’s cheeks. “I’m Wille,” Wille continued anyway.
