I'm American and it just goes to show how fucking self centered we are because I didn't even know that Brazil made the first plane 😒😒 sometimes I hate this country

Okay let me try and explain this better.

Santos Dumont did not make the first plane in the existence of the world. He built the first plane that flew withoutany sort of external aid,either a geographical one (ex: having the plane go down the hill to getpropulsion) or any sort of tool or instrument (ex: the catapult). He built thefirst plane that could propel itself to fly and be stable while doing it.

The Wright brothers like so many aviatorsaround the world were building machines that could fly but had a catapult topropel it. 

Otto Lilienthal, Percy Pilcher,Octave Chanute e Clément Ader hadsuccess waaaaayyyyy before with their ‘planes’ but they had issue withstability and propulsion. 

14 BIS was the first ‘plane’ to fly with stabilityand with no external aid propulsion, just like modern days’ planes, making Dumontthe father of the aviation and a pioneer with his machine.

The idea of flying and flying machinesis older than Brazil and American combined.
