(Please keep in mind, at the roots, Regression is a coping/defense mechanism that many rely on. If it makes you uncomfortable, that is fine, you are entitled to your safe space. But please do not shame us who do it, and understand that it is in no way a kink, or anything sexual. It's always SFW!) 

(Also, mentions of panic attacks, trauma, and the term sexual are used here. But NEVER in detail! It is only for educational purposes.)

Age-regression: Is when someone mentally reverts back to the mindset of a younger age. This can range from a few years younger, to that of an infant. Those who are in the mindset of a child, can not consent to things they normally could. (Example: Alcohol.)

Pet-Regression: Is when someone mentally retreats to the mindset of similar to an animal. This allows our wilder sides to be free. Those who are in the mindset of an animal can not consent to things they normally could. (Example: Alcohol.)

(Note the difference between Retreats and Reverts. Retreat implies it is a mindset that was not experienced before, but still used. Revert implies that you are going back to an age you once were! :D both are very valid coping mechanisms!!) 

Age-Dreaming: Is when someone acts, and often wants to be treated, as though they are a specific age of their choice. This can be a coping mechanism, or just for fun. But never is it sexual in any way. Those who are Age-Dreaming are still fully or partly in the mindset of their actual Age, and is still 100% valid.

Pet-Dreaming: Is when someone acts, and often wants to be treated, as though they are a specific animal of their choice. This can be a coping mechanism, or just for fun. But never is it sexual in any way. Those who are Pet-Dreaming are still partly or fully in the mindset if their actual species, but is still 100% valid.

Caregiver: Sometimes known as a Caretaker, is someone who is responsible for caring for a regressor and or dreamer. The Regressor/Dreamer that they are caring for may give them a nickname like Papa, Daddy, Mama, Sissy, Bubba, or whatever else makes them happy. (Note: Some chose not to use nicknames, others might use specific names that are a version of their caregivers name, and or a specific nickname that doesn't relate to being parental. There's no right or wrong way to do it! ^^)

Babysitter: A person who isn't the primary Caregiver(s) of a Dreamer/Regressor, but May watch over them for certain periods of time, especially if the Caregiver isn't available.

Flip: Is someone who fluctuates between being a Regressor/Dreamer, or both, and Caregiver/Babysitter.

Agere: An aberration of Age-Regression.

Petre: An aberration of Pet-Regression. 

Agedre: An aberration of Age-Dreaming.

Petdre: An aberration of Pet-Dreaming.

CG: An aberration of Caregiver.

Voluntary regression: Is when someone will purposefully regress into the mindset of an animal/younger age. This can be done for coping, stress relief, fun, etc. And can done by colouring, playing with toys, listening to baby music, or other things that make you feel safe, bring positive emotions out, remind you of your childhood, or the childhood you always wanted. (And hey, some like playing games like destiny, ark, etc! Or like listening to rock, watching shows for older people, it's about what makes YOU feel regressed!)

Involuntary regression: Is when someone will go into the mindset of an animal/younger age. This can be triggered by stress, fear, over or understimulation, or a variety of negative feelings.

Partial-Regression:  Sometimes also uses the term Age-Dreaming. Is when someone is only partially in their headspace. Those who are partially regressed can still not consent to what they normally could, as they may not be fully coherent. 

Full-Regression: Also known as just Regression. Is when someone is fully regressed, and will think and act as the age, or animal, they have regressed to.

Slipping: Somethings also known as regressing, or dropping, is when someone regresses. (Example: "Mary started to slip into the age of a toddler.")

Littles: Are someone who primarily regresses to the age, or around, 8 and under. This may fluctuate.

Middles: Are someone who primarily regresses to the age, or around, 9 and older. This may fluctuate.

Regressors: The general term for someone who regresses/chooses not to label themself!

Dreamers: The general term for someone who dreams.

Littlespace: Sometimes spelled little space or little-space, is the mindset of someone 8 or younger.  (Example: Mary slipped into Littlespace.)

Middlespace: Sometimes spelled middle space or middle-space, is the mindset of someone 9 or older. (Example: Mary slipped into Middlespace.)

Petspace: Sometimes spelled pet space or pet-space, is the mindset of someone who is pet regressed! (Example: Mary slipped into Petspace.)

Headspace: Sometimes spelled head space or head-space, is the general term for Littlespaces, Middlespaces, and Petspaces.

Positive regression: Previously known as Pure regression. Is when regressed, you might feel happy, bubbly. It can involves playing, laughing, and or other things associated with the happier side of regression. (Note: some still chose to use the term Pure Regression, and that's absolutely okay!)

Negative regression: Previously known as Impure regression. Sometimes known as Vent Regression. Is when regressed, you may feel sad, moody, angry. It can involve tantrums, crying, kicking, and or other things associated with the less happy side of regression. (Note: some still chose to use the term Impure Regression, and that's absolutely okay!)

Little gear: Sometimes spelled littlegear or little-gear, is the supplies used while regressed/dreaming, this can include, but not limited to: Pacifiers. Blankies. Bottles. Fidgets. Diapers. And or other things used by Regressors/Dreamers, that fit their age and preferences! (Note: Little gear isn't required to regress! ^^)

Petre gear: Sometimes spelled petregear or petre-gear, is the supplies used while regressed/dreaming, this can include, but not limited to: Chew toys. Teethers. Treats. And or other things used by Regressors/Dreamers, that fit their animal and preferences. (Note: Petre gear isn't required to regress! ^^)

(Often both can be shortened to just Gear if wanted!)

Positive triggers: Are something used to trigger someone into Voluntary regression. (Example: Colouring, Music, Dancing, Etc.)

Negative triggers: Is something that triggers unwanted memories, Involuntary regression, panic attacks, or other things that are unwanted to the regressor.(Example: a Negative trigger caused Mary to have a flashback.)

In the closet: It is when someone who is part of the Agere/Petre community is still secret. Sometimes, they are also known as Discreet Littles! (Generally, "closeted" means you are secretly, or not directly promoting that you are in a certain community. The term is often associated with it's use in the LGBTQIAP+ community!)

Finally, if you know a term that I don't, do not be afraid to share! And remember, not all regressors/dreamers are the same! One may love Pacifiers, the other may strongly dislike them. That's okay! We're all different and unique in our own ways! 

Remember that Agere is beautiful, all sides of it. Sometimes you have to have negative regression to feel better, it's okay! All sides of it are needed, and rather voluntarily or not, it's your brain trying to help you, and cope! It's a completely healthy coping mechanism, as long as you don't let it become your life 24/7. (That goes for all coping mechanisms, becoming obsessive over something is a big factor in it becoming unhealthy!)

(To confirm: When regressed, you are still valid if you like swearing while regressed. You are still valid if you like playing/watching more mature games or shows or movies while regressed. You are still valid if nobody can tell you're regressed without you telling them. There are no rules to regression, expect that it's never sexual. Cater to how YOU need to regress, not everyone fits into the same box, and that's the beauty of diversity in how we each do it.)

🌼 Caregiving Tips 🌼

For my first time caregivers who are completely lost on how to start caring for their little one 💛

🌼 Research! Read as much as you can about age regression whenever you can. The more you can understand how regression works and what it is, the better you can support your kiddo.

🌼 Read Safe for Work fanfiction on regression. It can give you lots of ideas on how to care for and talk to your kiddo when they're regressed. Ask them if they read works on any specific fandom and try looking it up yourself to get an idea of what they like.

🌼 Read blogs on Tumblr and stories on Wattpad for regression advice too. Lots of information is written by regressors and caregivers themselves.

🌼 Ask lots of questions. Your little one's probably already established how their regression works for them so asking what that looks like can be super helpful to you. (Examples: How small do you feel when you regress? Or What do you like to do when your regressed?)

🌼 Your kiddo may feel a little apprehensive at first so patience and lots of reassurance will do wonders. Remind them that you want to be there and don't rush the process of including this new dynamic in your relationship. It will take time.

🌼 Encourage their regression! As often as you can, do things that encourage their headspace. For instance, asking if they want to color with you or watch a cartoon. The more you encourage their little habits, the more comfortable they'll feel around you.

🌼 Don't talk down to them. There's a balance when it comes to talking to regressors. You want to baby them (unless they ask otherwise), but not in a way that's patronizing.

🌼 Be curious. Ask them simple questions and be interested in what their doing/telling you. Most kiddos love to explain things and feel like they're showing you something cool, so it'll make them very happy to know that you're paying attention to them.

🌼 Try not to be harsh. Most feel like harsh discipline and a firm hand is the best way to handle a regressor, but most kiddos listen better to a gentle reminder than a harsh reprimand. So be patient with them, treat them as though their learning everything for the first time.

🌼 Learn their little habits. Lots of times, kiddos don't want to ask to be babied because they can feel embarrassed or like a burden, so they'll give little hints in hopes you'll notice them that way. And it can be something as small as being a little more clingy, to pouting and whining over something that seems minor.

🌼 Become their guardian. Check in with them often, ask if they ate, help them put their seat belt on and remind them to pick up after themselves, little things like that. Some regressors even love to have a certain set of rules laid out for them to follow (or break).

🌼 Avoid ignoring or verbally wounding your regressor. Sometimes emotions can become much more difficult to process when regressed, so a passing comment or action done in frustration can cause deep wounds to reopen, so try to think twice before acting.

🌼 Don't cross boundaries! Just because you're the caregiver, don't abuse your authority and force them to do anything their uncomfortable with.

She is so polite!!! Best girl!!

Voluntary regressor, who maybe hits age 6/7 at most! Prefers to be younger if she has the time and space, probably like 4/5

She doesn't usually talk while she regresses. I think she likes to put on some cartoons(she gives me the vibes where she'd watch like every single Barbie movie, know every song etc) and keep to herself for the most part, but she loves humming along to music and giggling when something's funny!

Her quirk comes in handy when she can't find something she wants, like her paci or a sippy cup. She just makes a new one, and then when she inevitably finds the original, she's happy to have a backup!

Has a nice little bin underneath her bed that she keeps most of her gear in. Some things like her coloring books and supplies she doesn't mind putting on her bookshelf. And no one really makes any passing comments if they peek in and see some of her stuffies!

She is pretty independent while she regresses. She's comfortable, she has her own thing going, she is very self sufficient.

But every once in a while she does seek out Jirou to help out a little. Usually it's to present her with a freshly colored picture, or to invite her to watch Princess Charm School with her for the hundredth time(that's her favorite Barbie movie and I will not stand for any arguments lol)

Jirou doesn't fully understand, but she loves seeing Momo happy, so she goes with it and trusts Momo to come to her on her own time.

Regressed Shoto Todoroki Headcanons!

Quiet little man

Voluntary regression most of the time, he knows when he's getting too stressed and so he'll distance himself a bit so he can regress on his own

Probably regresses a bit older? I could see maybe 5-7

Doesn't really use teethers or pacis, but he does have a small blanket he likes to drape around his shoulders and bring with him everywhere

Loves going to the park and getting on the swings!!

No real cg but Izuku babysits him from time to time

He relaxes and watches kids shows and sometimes he colors

The coloring pages always get approved by Izuku, who is happy to put them on the fridge--most of the time Todoroki just asks him to put them in a folder or box

Would be the type where he'll literally have his hand in the cookie jar when Izuku told him to wait til after dinner but would still say "I'm not doing anything"

Likes sweets a lot more when he's regressed, it's adorable bc he'll usually end up with a stash in his room

Tends to follow Izuku around like a duckling if he doesn't know what else to do

That or Bakugou but he prefers Izuku

Overall he's a sweet little boy :) we love him

Self-care help

some selfcare help

1– make sure you eat! Eating is very important.

2– drink water! while drinking soda can be fun, water is very healthy.

3– regress responsibly! Make sure you don’t get into trouble and you’re in a good mindset to regress.

4– colouring for fun! colouring can be an easy way to keep your mind healthy.

5– reading! read some kids books to keep you focused and happy.

6– make sure you are in a safe place. Before regressing, you need to be in a safe or comforting location. If you’re in public, your car or a bookstore can be the safe place!

In terms of caregiving he's actually super lenient(compared to how he is babysitting class 1A lol)

He'd be great with kiddos of any age I think

Likes being called Papa or dada the most

Values a good schedule! Has a routine the two of you can go through with ease, with plenty of time for snacks, playing, etc.

(and of course a good nap)

Aizawa will use his scarf as a backpack leash if you wander a lot

Alternatively he'll set it up as a rope swing for you if you'd like

He's the type to sit down to watch cartoons or a movie with you and then fall asleep five seconds later(in true dad fashion)

Common nicknames for you would probably be "little one", "kiddo", or "troublemaker" depending on how much mischief you cause for him

Likes reading to you! He has a very good voice for stories before bedtime. Alternatively likes having you read to him, then praises you for being so smart!

Pavitir Prabhakar Regressor Headcanons! (100% SFW!)

OF COURSE HE REGRESSES WHY WOULDN'T HE

he does it for fun! Mostly voluntary but if he gets really excited he will slip

Probably a younger baby!! 3/4 years old at most

Gayatri is his main babysitter, he's very much fine with being on his own but she's really understanding and she thinks he's cute

However if Hobie is around Pav tends to gravitate towards him like a little magnet

Pav is constantly on the move when he's small! Speeds through activities onto the next thing super fast, fidgeting(more often than not with his yo yos), and generally moving around

Doesn't feel the need for little gear? He has a few chewy necklaces and he definitely has some plushies and action figures but he doesn't really feel like he needs more than that. Sometimes Hobie or Gayatri gift him little trinkets/coloring books/etc, but he rarely asks for things

Needs a nap time but will fight like heck to avoid it. Hobie had to call on Gayatri for help multiple times because she's better at putting Pav down for a nap than he is

Pav adores going to playgrounds and running around to get out his energy. More often than not the other kids at the playground end up playing with him, doing tag and hide and seek and playing pretend!

Every once in a while Pav will go way too fast at the playground and gets a little injured, but thankfully Gayatri and Hobie carry Band-Aids on them for this purpose(they have little cartoon dogs on them)

Very cute and well behaved boy, he just moves around a lot(there is a backpack leash they use for him)

If there ever are days when he's low on energy he likes when his hair is played with while he colors. Alternatively he likes playing with someone else's hair in general. He just finds it soothing

He plays hard and then when he goes to bed he sleeps even harder

I don't have someone to say this to me, but.

It's okay dear, you don't have to be in your regression mindset all the time, in the same way you don't need to be big all the time. All you need is to love and to care, care for yourself and care for others, it's what makes you part of this community, being good.

I need agere content with spider Noir. He’s my favorite and I think he’s the best and he would be such a good father/older brother figure to look after someone regressed. So I've thought up a couple prompts that I feel like sharing to perhaps inspire some people. :3 (Also cause these ideas will simply keep bouncing around in my brain if I don't do something about them)

1. Peni regressing and Noir doing his best to take care of her the way he grew up. Which meant no electronics much to the little’s dismay.

Instead they make homemade ice cream and play board games together. Perhaps listening to old songs and dancing around the living room. So just kinda showing the girl that you don’t necessarily need to rely on technology to have a good time.

Showing her a bunch of things she ever had a chance to do in her childhood, that seem relatively simple to him. Maybe in turn she shows her cg a bunch of new things as well.

2. A real simple one but Noir coloring with Miles.

With the artist regressed it's much more enjoyable for him to let go with his art and not have to have every detail perfect, and considering Noir isn't the best when it comes to distinguishing color, Miles really doesn't have to worry about the quality of work to begin with. Noir is so proud of his kiddo, and like any proud parent is going to show off to the world. The world being Miguel's office area in order to mess with the older spider man when he walks in and sees that his walls are covered in colorful pictures.

3. Pav being babysat by Noir. Noir not feeling the best mentally, maybe it’s a bit of an off day, not to bad that he can’t look after Pav, he’s just not having the best time ever. Pav noticing and decides to draw Noir a fun picture to cheer him up. Perhaps he even shares his stuffed bear that Gayrti gave him because it always cheers him up when he feels soggy. (I’m just soft for little one taking care of their caregiver, kinda a reverse dynamic, idk)

Another idea is him fretting over Noir and rushing to get bandaids and puts at least a dozen all over Noir because that's what Hobie does for him when he gets an ouchie in order to feel better, and it always works.

Regressor Gwen Stacy Headcanons! (100% SFW!)

Sweet girl :3 also kinda quiet

Regresses to ages 4/5 I think. She has that vibe.

Doesn't like pacis or teethers, prefers lollipops or similar edible things

Doesn't feel the need for a CG either, she's more of a bedtime regressor so she likes doing things on her own anyways

Usually gets home from school or patrols and bathes, then gets on comfy pajamas and this hugeeee hoodie she has

Goes through a very calming and easy bedtime routine before going to bed, cozied up with her plushies(she has at least three on the bed with her at all times)

If she has ANYONE care for her it's Peter B. since he's pretty good at helping her out, if not him then Jessica is her next option.

Peter is more than happy to care for Gwen, usually it's because she gets super overwhelmed and needs a space to calm down properly. He guides her to a more quiet area of HQ and encourages her to let her emotions out even if it's a little difficult

Hugs her, gets her something to eat and drink and then they relax.

Peter has started encouraging her to regress during the day if she's able to since it really seems to help her with her stress levels

Does tea parties with her, pretend, anything she wants

She's very low maintenance, and doesn't ask for a whole lot. She has a list somewhere of toys or books that she wants to buy eventually but she just waits for money to build up and then splurges on one of the items. It's like a reward :3

I could see her maybe being a big sister regressor to Pav or Miles but idk
