When her home vanished, stories of her loved ones were all she had left aside from her horse and the armor on her back. She’d told Lana everything she could remember about the knights and Camelot and best of all, their heroic king. She loved stories anyway, and they’d collected more throughout their travels, of far off lands and fairy realms and that master wordsmith, William Shakespeare. It helped them both with their languages, English, Russian, and sign alike.
In a theoretical sense, Lancelot grasped the fact that he was not “her” Arthur–he didn’t know her quite as she knew him–but in a practical sense, it didn’t matter to her. He looked and behaved just like her king, and she’d searched long and hard for him across land and time. It seemed they couldn’t leave anyway, so that much at least was taken out of the equation. “It seems we have no choice but to stay. I think we can make the best of that. What would you like to do here, my little match?” Despite taking on most of a parent role, she’d included Lana in her decision-making from the moment they’d found each other. She deserved an equal say in her own life.

She loved all of the stories they had collected while they had traveled together. It had been a fun way to learn languages together. She helped her Mama learn Russian, while she learned English from her, and they learned sign together. It made it all so much less intimidating to have someone do it with her, to do it in fun ways. Having someone in her life who cared for her the way that Lancelot did was something she hadn’t had in a very long time in her short life.  The question had her leaning entirely against Concorde as she tried to think. The last time she had just stayed in one place, it hadn’t been anything good or happy that she could remember with ease and she didn’t like remembering the cold. ‘I don’t know,’ she signed carefully. ‘What can I do?’ The question was asked as though she firmly expected for there to be limits, even though Lancelot had never put any limits on her except for safety.

As they had traveled together, conquered communication barriers, and learned each other, Lana had practically cut her teeth on Lance’s stories about Arthur Pendragon. It was how she had learned much of her English, and as a result, there were some words she simply hadn’t gone near, and others she had learned that were rarely needed. What she had never expected, though, was to come across the man himself in a small town in Wales that they couldn’t escape.  Her heart had hurt slightly at the look on his face, that soft wonder in it. She hadn’t understood it as she watched the pair of them together, but she knew that her мамочка would tell her. Curling with Concorde, she tipped her head to study her for a moment before waving her hand lightly to catch her attention. ‘Mama, what are we going to do here?’ @mostnoblekniight
