phineas and ferb season five is so refreshing. it’s not often that they revive something popular and they don’t completely ruin it and it’s still as good as the original was. also tropey mctropeface is the most hilarious episode of television i’ve seen in years.

ok one of my favorite bits in season 5 is when Doofenshmirtz’s therapist says “the platypus is a metaphor for…whatever is keeping you down” and Doof is like “I’m not speaking metaphorically!”

THAT is how you do a callback!! You rarely if ever hear that part of “There’s A Platypus Controlling Me” in viral videos, you’ll only get the joke if you’ve actually internalized the entire song. Having Doof say “well I’ll be honest, I don’t really understand” would be more widely understood but a bit on the nose, this is far more clever.

relating to The Bolter is a curse because bolting is exhilarating and there are moments when you can feel yourself longing for that high and falling back into the cycle because there is in fact escape in escaping but you also can't avoid the cost on others' emotional well being
