[Transcript]

A colorless sketch comic of Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth from Ace Attorney.

Page 1:

Phoenix is wearing his suit from the Phoenix Wright trilogy, but with no badge. He is running, trying to escape the clutches of a dark, morphed arm with claws, but fails as it grasps his forearm. He glances back at it, terrified. Pictures of Kristoph Gavin's darkened gaze with a smirk and little Trucy giving him a piece of paper flash in his mind as the monster hugs him from behind, only its creepy smile and eyes comprehensive. The monster has long, loose hair flowing and branching everywhere, and something resembling two braids at the top. The strands of hair separate the previous imaginery into scenes.

Phoenix gasps as wakes up, sweating with unshed tears in his eyes, and clutching his blanket with his eyes widened. He is unshaven, and his hair is a mess.

Page 2:

Panel 1:

He sits up quickly, clutching the part of the t-shirt where his heart is, as he breathes heavily. With his other hand he is tightly grasping his blanket.

Panel 2:

A long-sleeved hand grabs the one clutching the blanket, and it jolts. "Phoenix," the person mumbles.

Panel 3:

"M-Miles," Phoenix stutters as he turns his gaze to Miles, who is hidden by Phoenix as he's still laying down. Miles' hand moves to the hand grasping at Phoenix's shirt, talking to him. "Listen to my voice," he speaks, still tired, "Come lay down." Phoenix's grasp on the blanket loosens.

Panel 4:

Phoenix falls back down on the pillow with a thump. "That's it," Miles praises him, with his eyes still closed, trying to emerge from his half-asleep state. His hair is a mess too, one of his bangs tucked behind his ear and with a slight scruff on his face. Phoenix, still shakened, glances at him. Miles holds his hand. "Take a deep breath. 'm right here."

Page 3:

Panel 1:

Miles lifts himself up, getting an arm under Phoenix's head. "C'mere," he says, and Phoenix with his trembling lip tries to apologize, "I-I'm s��" but he is cut off by Miles' shushing him. His other arm is caressing his chest.

Panel 2:

Miles tucks Phoenix in his own chest, wrapping his arms around his neck, one of them scratching his head. He scrunches his eyebrows, "I'm here, darling." Phoenix's eyes fill with tears once more and he hiccups, shaking.

Panel 3:

Miles wraps Phoenix up in his arms, burying his head in his hair. "It was just a dream," he says as Phoenix lets out a sob. Tears roll down his face as he buries himself entirely in Miles' shoulder, hugging him back. "You're safe," Miles continues, "It was just a dream."

Part 1 HC

What I just crave right now is maybe share an Edgeworth-Wright-Fey Family through the 7 year gap being family oriented. SO here I have a long headcanon series post on Phoenix during the 7 year gap. Mostly Phoenix coz he's my fave.

Just Phoenix being a dad. Burning cookies. Learning to cook because he is now a dad. I am PROJECTING but I firmly believe Phoenix had to budget everything. From food, daily expenses, medicine, Trucy's school supplies, Phoenix's therapy (because Edgeworth would not stop honking on him. Phoenix insists on paying him partially despite being on Edgeworth's dependent list. No, he will not drink BECAUSE he needs that money elsewhere.

Phoenix did tend to eat lesser which drove Miles and Maya nuts. The man does not need diet. He is UNDERWEIGHT! They've been trying their utmost to fatten Phoenix up (Phoenix's words). With an ongoing bet to drive them. So the moment they found out this money strategy of Nick to save money, they both are so frustrated and upset for many reasons and am even more determined. Miles creates a report or power point for every debate Miles will have with Phoenix on this. Maya got Trucy and Pearls involved to ensure Nick eats 3 times a day. When Edgeworth is in LA or when he drags Phoenix to another country, he makes sure Phoenix gets his food even if had to drag him kicking and screaming. Phoenix was no Franziska. It was no contest getting him to eat despite Nick's bitchiness. Edgeworth made it his goal to bring him not only to a 5 star (because he wants to spoil that MAN) but also realized that brining Phoenix to an affordable but delicious place worked like magic. Phoenix did not see that coming. He only realized far too late when Edgeworth is not in LA and he is craving for a certain European or Asian cuisine he ate with Edgeworth in a restaurant.

Maya's strategy is to bully Phoenix into treating them mostly. Dinners also consist of Maya and Trucy slyly piling food onto Phoenix's plate but he can't complain. Pearl's will look so upset if Phoenix tries to skip on any food, ready to punch or kick her Nick for being ridiculous. Maya just straight up bullies Phoenix if he tries to contest not being hungry. Edgeworth gives him the eye, lectures him until his ears bleed if he doesn't eat! If that doesn't work, Miles threatened to bring the one famous restaurant chef to Phoenix once which made Phoenix concede. Pearls makes sure everyone gets to eat their veggies. She will lecture everyone who avoids being healthy - and Phoenix being the worst offender next to Maya, would concede since he is weak to a determined Pearl. Somehow Franziska got involved because of Maya and Miles rantings. She sometimes shows up, out of the blue to get Phoenix to eat properly, driven crazy by Maya and Miles endless topic. There is no escape for him.

He is hell no to a lot of modern appliances and stuck to traditional cooking. Meaning he'd use the stove. If he's really desperate, he'll do charcoal cooking - as he could not afford to order gas to the displeasure of his neighbors. This man could not be stopped. His neighbors pitches if he ever comes to attempts charcoal cooking. A trade off was to attend a neighbor thing and cook for everyone and yes - he does not have to spend a dime. He cooked rice traditionally versus a rice cooker. Learned a lot of cooking. Chinese food, Japanese cuisine, also German cuisine because of Miles. It doesn't help that Miles brings Phoenix to a lot of European countries. And when Edgeworth treats him and Trucy, Phoenix back at US is driven crazy half the time of the food he tasted there and with the money issue, he just obsessed at one point to cook that food he tased in Germany or what country Miles brought him to.

Phoenix is, when stressed, stress bakes. Lots of sweets. And they all look absolutely adorable. His cookies are sometimes steel samurai or whatever Trucy is into. It's so artsy.

I really liked AA:I, so I had to make a silly comic about it (it probably breaks canon somewhere, but I'm okay with it!). Ace Attorney really inspired me to become a writer/comic artist, so I wanted to give back to the franchise. Hope you enjoy.

A little context, basically Beanix "time traveled" back to the past due a sort of manifestation from BratMiles's (un)well being. Of course, you know where Phoenix's priority is: Taking care of BratMiles till he's well enough again. I plan to expand this story, but will be at the back burner since I have other nrmt comics on due to get it done before August.

If Phoenix is afraid to love people romantically what would it take for him to allowed someone to love him?

I like to think Phoenix just needs a lot of time, patience and reassurance. But I don't think he'll be ready to even think about dating until he can get that closure in 3-5. Even after that, I imagine he's skeptical about who he'd give his heart to.

In the end, I think whoever loves Phoenix has to let him come to them. I don't consider Phoenix emotionally inept, just very distant. He can read others, he knows when people like him and when they don't. If someone loves him, he'll know, it'll just really freak him out and make him distant.

They also have to STAY. That guy's got abandonment issues, you can't just be leaving him for long stretches of time and think he's gonna be ok with that.

Replaying JFA really tells me so many many things. I remember watching a video how each game centers to torture prosecutors. And it may also go to our MC, Phoenix as well.

Game 1 focuses obviously on Edgeworth - samurai case was a tease on Edgeworth as a kid. Yezzzzz! Remember Coby, Miles tries really hard to be gentle and remind everyone to be nice. No - Miles was not being mean to Phoenix for no reason. Miles was coming from a victim standpoint in turnabout goodbye, tells me how his father's case people were probably not nice to him. So he warned everyone to be gentle.

Then we go to JFA

We have Franziska where most cases always centered on siblings. Case 2 was 2 sisters. The criminal was a sister who wants to runaway and disappear to start anew. The symbolism on Edgeworth and Franziska speaks so much to me. I'm not smart but the thing that spoke to me was how the sister wanted to start a new life. Kinda like how Franziska may have seen Edgeworth's death as wanting to disappear but she will not let him.

Case 3 was all about siblings as well.

Acro and Bat. But my realization on this case is Regina too. She's, like symbolizes Phoenix to me. How Phoenix wanted to save Edgeworth and all and in his doing so, as innocent and pure it was, also in a twist sort of sense "killed" the prosecutor in Edgeworth or his "suicide" depending on how you would take it. OFC like we know somewhere, Phoenix may have some guilt over what happened because of his savior complex. Franziska's is so much on the revenge that it's Phoenix fault Miles is gone. Defeating Phoenix is to bring Miles home. Literally about their conversation in the case says it all. As annoying (Moe anyone?) this case was, I love how it just drives home to both Franziska and Phoenix.

Some say they both could have like connected because of losing Edgeworth but at the same time, his "death" made it extremely hard for both to deal with. Franziska's revenge so she could pull Edgeworth back and Phoenix who's angry, upset, grieving over his death/disappearance.

The feels on this game is soo much. I have such appreciation after replaying the game after many years.

As promised a few days ago, here is the first chapter of my aa x dc crossover! I hope it's alright 💙 writing Shinichi was terrifying.

Work Summary:

An international conference for prosecutors and defense attorneys brings Shinichi, Ran, and her mother to the sunny streets of Los Angeles, Japanifornia. Unfortunately, their vacation in the City of Stars is interrupted when a rival prosecutor is brutally murdered on the conference's opening night- and Kisaki Eri is arrested with the murder weapon in hand. With nowhere else to turn in a country determined to close cases in a matter of days, Shinichi and Ran must seek the help of the famous underdog defense attorney Phoenix Wright. The real trial, however, will be keeping the truth about Edogawa Conan secret from a lawyer with the most uncanny ability to determine lies... all the while chasing familiar shadows, who seem intent on ruining not just Eri, but the entire Mouri family. Meanwhile, Phoenix Wright has a whirlwind trial on his hands. A defense attorney for a client, a murdered prosecutor, and Edgeworth across the bench all seems like more than he can handle. But the most concerning thing about this case isn't the victim or his client: rather, it's a little boy, who seems to lie with every breath... even about his own name.

The comic is mostly monochrome in black and white, with slight color variation due to a filter.

Page 1:

Edgeworth stands in the middle of a path, surrounded by stalls and vendors, with a few people around. He's sweating, nervous, thinking: "It is so over. I am finished." He is lacking his red sweater.

He is sweating even more. "The previous person gave me such a look, I felt as if I insulted their family honor to death," he thinks, embarrassed.

"No matter who I asked, they all refused. Quite rudely as well!" he thinks as he rubs his hand, which is also sweaty, over his face as he grows more and more embarrassed.

He drags his palm to his chin, pulling his exasperated face down, thinking "I've embarrassed myself to no end and all that is left for me is to crawl into a pit and-" his thoughts get cut off.

Page 2:

He is startled by another art stall. It is highlighted in his vision. "Another..." he thinks as he observes it.

He grips a piece of paper that is slightly crumpled with his left hand.

With a determined but still nervous expression, he starts heading towards the stall. "One more time! One more time and that's it..!"

He leans down to a board with artworks to take a look. His right hand holds his chin in thought as his other goes behind his back. As he observes, he notes: "Hmm... Not exactly what I am looking for, but they are very skilled."

A shadowy figure with big round eyes is sneaking next to him, while he is thinking, "Not that I can afford finding a perfect candidate at this point-" His thoughts get interrupted.

A young girl, Trucy Wright, appears from his right, startling him. His eyes widen in shock. "See something you like, mister?" she asks cheerfully, smiling widely as she leans in with her hands behind her back. Instead of her wearing her jacket, it is tied around her hips.

Page 3:

She shines brightly in front of the board as she excitedly asks Edgeworth, "Well? Well?" but he pulls back in surprise with a "Nghoooooh!" while thinking, "This child... She cannot be...!"

Trucy seems to pull a sketch of a street out of nowhere, surrounded by sparkles, exclaiming "Beautiful sketches!"

"Compelling illustrations!" she keeps going, keeps sparkling, now showing a drawing of a phoenix flying.

"Some small and practical!" now she has two framed drawing in her hand, the one in front, being of a furry animal, hiding the one behind it.

"But the best," she now holds her one viewer in suspension as she speaks, holding a huge framed artwork barely fitting in her arms yet unrevealed, "of all..."

Page 4:

She reveals the artwork, all sparkly again, with its title: "A Perfectly Done Assignment Where the Professor still Took 15 Points off for No Reason." The painting is of a woman laying down, covering her head with her right arm and with the other gripping a cloth underneath her.

Edgeworth is amazed, gazing at her in surprise, as he thinks, "Remarkable...! A child with such skill..."

And then his thoughts continue, his mood back to being exasperated, "But I cannot pick a little girl as a work partner! I'm not sure that minors can even be considered as contestants... Ngh... I am done for..." A voice Edgeworth does not recognize speaks, "Hey, that's not the title, you know! ... True, though."

Page 5:

A zoom-in of Edgeworth's eye, wide in surprise and shining as he notices the speaker.

The mysterious speaker reveals himself, being Phoenix Wright, winking and smiling, holding a plastic bag with two wrapped burgers in it. His top is unzipped revealing a shirt that's underneath, he has no scarf and his sleeves are slightly pulled up. One hand is on his hip, standing confidently, saying "Go easy on the customers, Truce. They'll say if they want something!" He is surrounded by shoujo manga style sparkles around him.

These two are just utterly shameless I tell you. It's murder, there's a confession, a case in a bombed courtroom but these two are shamelessly flirting and teasing one another.

Of course we have the bad referee.

While explaining the logic, one guy just can't get over being insulted over his art sense.

He's so utterly confident about his taste, even though everyone also pokes fun at his taste.

Looking for a specific case fic 🔍 👀

“Phoenix runs from an assassin and goes underground”

Hoping the fandom can help me find a fic that I stupidly didn’t bookmark but am thinking about a lot lately and would love to reread and recommend in a new post about case fics. What I remember:

- super exciting, fast-paced and multi-chaptered

- Phoenix is forced to go off-grid and stay one step ahead of an evil assassin - I remember there is a scene where he literally starts running, stuffing his tie and then jacket in garbage cans as he launches himself by foot down the street

- Miles and Trucy are left to try and catch the killer before the killer gets him

- Kay, Maya, Franziska, Apollo, Athena, Klavier and the gang all feature in helping both protect Phoenix and in solving the case.

Hoping you can help so I can share it with others too! I remember really enjoying it and commenting on it’s killing me that I can’t find it 😭

Ace Attorney ships are so funny because they read like a fever dream when combined into a story.

Like—this is Phoenix Wright, whose ex was so evil she literally came back as a ghost to possess his sister figure. But it’s okay, because technically he was also dating her twin at one point—who actually did love him, by the way.

Anyway, Phoenix has moved on now and is married (in spirit and courtroom tension) to his childhood friend/rival/prosecutor who once tried to get arrested for murder out of guilt. Romantic.

Said prosecutor, Miles Edgeworth, now shares joint custody of their thief daughter (don’t ask) with a detective who simps for him so hard he practically licks the courtroom floor clean. That detective is married to a cop. The kid is a world-class criminal. It's a functional family.

Meanwhile, Edgeworth also has something... going on with a literal furry. They flirt like they're contractually obligated to confuse the fuck out of me.

Also, Edgeworth’s basically sister is dating Phoenix’s best friend, who’s like a sister to him.

And Edgeworth’s adopted lesbian daughter is dating a girl who used to idolize him, but also reminded Phoenix of his sister figure.

Also, did i mention Phoenix has another ex? Who’s a defense attorney? he frame Phoenix for forging evidence, didn’t help raise their adopted daughter, and then framed him again for murder. Oh, and His brother  is now dating Phoenix’s employee. Just regular Tuesday energy.

AND PHOENIX’S ANCESTOR? He had a dramatic friendship with a defense attorney prosecutor who “died,” came back as a corrupted prosecutor, and had to be saved with the power of courtroom belief and spiritual trauma. Generational drama is real.

Ace Attorney ships are actual cinema. Not just in a romantic way. In a “this is four genres of opera and a tax fraud subplot” way. AND I LOVE IIIIIIIIITTTT ALLLL

Fucking GENIUS! All of it. This short fic has plot twists, emotional twists, delicious caginess, frustration, and the calm collected brilliant mind of Miles Edgeworth at work. There is a moment in this work that made me gasp and make a sound out loud, and one simply brilliant last line. What a rush. Just, yeah, Genius.

SapphireWine and knows how to build and release tension. This is a short one-shot set during one of Phoenix and Trudy's visits with Miles overseas that captures the moment Phoenix has one of his best 'bad ideas.' ; )

Gah!!! So. Damn. Good! One of those fics that I have come back to read it again and again for that rush of dopamine. This one takes place in Germany with Phoenix and Miles finishing off a bottle of wine together. Seriously this might be my all time favourite fic on Ao3 (yeah, yeah, I may have said that about 5 or 10 other fics, each for different reasons). Why the author orphaned their account I will never understand. I hope they some how still feel the fan love sent their way...

5) The Reasonable Man Test by realizationtime

Rating: T Words: 5,901 Time to read: 20 min

Trucy discovers Phoenix’s diary. I think that in the future, I might make a post about this fic all on its own. It is sensitively and compelling written, and deals with themes of mental health. This fic welcomed me in, then kind of slapped me in the face, but smooched me and hugged me and told me that things were going to be ok, or at least that loving souls will be ok despite the pain.

6) Like a house on fire by zombiekittiez

Rating: M Words: 19551 Time to read: 80 min

A beautifully crafted Miles and Trucy relationship-centric story. From the description:

"The phone rings and Miles answers, voice sharp and forbidding, jarred from a rare restful sleep.

“Do you have any idea what time it is, Wright?”

“No,” a soft, contrite, feminine voice says over the line. A young voice.

…and that is how Miles Edgeworth finds out about the disbarment."

7) talk me down by halfdemonvash

Rating: E Words: 69,063 Time to read: 5 hours

This fic just came out in October of last year and it is wonderful. I bookmarked it immediately after the first chapter because of the quality of the writing. It is easily one of the best 7 year gap fics I’ve read. Solid characterization and some nice schexy times. Chapter 2 could be a stand-alone story, it is so solid and beautifully crafted. And BONUS! It's a wonderful case fic too.

Rise of the Ashes - Final

I forgot about this. This was in my drafts. I put so much screenshot in my last ROTA post, it didn't fit.

I just realize how much Phoenix is so much like Edgeworth here in the way he was waiting for Gant to slip like that. At the same time, it's very Phoenix to have the upper hand since he's sorta running the trial. For me, Edgeworth will be the MVP with how he was able to keep the case going. Still Phoenix, if he is a prosecutor, would be like this.

They got him but Gant is the most calm among everyone they caught.

This was really one of the things that pushes Edgeworth so much. And at a later time Phoenix.

Edgeworth is so adorably awkward and shy. He just keeps lurking at a corner until you call him on it. You'd just want to give this guy a big hug.

Phoenix, he was blending on the walls. Silly!

Lmaaaao. As soon as he gets the thank you, all he wants to do is run. See. Shy and adorable! He's overwhelmed and just wants to run, hide and scream in his office.

This case was a rollercoaster. I'm glad I replayed this case. Last time I played this was years ago. Refreshes me what pushed Edgeworth towards his suicide note / resignation letter. I wonder who handled Forging scandal better - Miles or Phoenix?

Like literally one of my fave parts. You can't do it alone. No matter how great you are. Gant and Von Karma did everything on their own.

Lana said it right. It was that piece of evidence that their counterattack started. Same with Engarde trial through Disbarment era, DD era and through the present.
