a/n: did you miss me? because i'm now back and better than ever!!!! hehe but seriously, i appreciate all the love and support from everyone during my hiatus, things were very overwhelming for a minute there, but i'm all good now!!

a/n: DEAR LORDDDDD, i can't believe this has been sitting in my drafts since january😭😭so this fic has been longggg overdue. since i am now offering commissions this summer, i have to dust off my fic writing skills!!! and i miss ace dearly, so this WIP was just calling my name 😌

how he shows love:

quality time - there is nothing in this world that ace loves more, than being by your side. having you resting in his lap with his arms wrapped around your waist as you read, sharing meals together, star-gazing, picnics, exploring new islands together. this man goes out of his way to always be near you. and he just can't help it, his smile is much warmer and wider with you around, the tension visibly leaves his body, and he feels completely at ease. ace adores planning dates for the two of you, and he always comes up with the most fun-filled days!!

physical touch - nothing helps ace wind down and relax like the feeling of your soft skin against his, his fingers tangled amongst your silky hair, as he gently traces lines and patterns down your spine with the pad of his fingers. the sweet alluring scent of your perfume filling up the air between the two of you. he'll use any and every opportunity he can to pull you into his arms. it's not often that the whitebeard pirates can converse with ace, without the man draping himself around you, both arms thrown over your shoulders, resting his chin atop your head, with the brightest freckled smile.

how he feels loved:

physical touch - something inside of ace just melts when he feels the soft touch of your hand against his bare back. the smallest smile growing on his lips as he can feel your fingers intertwine with his. the rosy blush that covers his cheeks as you place kisses in between his brows. the soft placement of your hand on his thigh when the two of you sit together during meals. every whisper of your touch becomes a grand gesture of your affection in ace's mind. he'll dialogue and commit to memory, each and every individual moment of physical contact, and think back on them whenever he's missing you or feeling down.

words of affirmation - while the second division commander of the whitebeard pirates has no lack of confidence or self-assurance, ace can stand a bit taller and prouder with your words of encouragement whispered in his ear, replaying in his head, and plaguing his thoughts. it warms his heart to hear from the person he adores the most; that he is doing a good job, his presence brings you value, joy, and love, and knowing the impact he has made on you.
