Daemon did not groom Rhaenyra whatever book or show. He didn't have the time, nor the technology. He did not kiss her or touch her until she was an adult. He did not talk to her or pursue her in a romantic way until she was of age.
He did have her trust, because he was family and we he brought her gifts because he was family. Is really not that hard to understand? Suddenly if an aunt or uncle brings you gifts they are grooming you. Pick up a dictionary I beg you.

I have seen people argue that Aegon cares about his family, but show Aegon was ready to leave his children and sister-wife on their own while thinking Rhaenyra was going to kill them.

i see so many people be like "hmmm is rhaenyra actually fit to rule? because if she were, she would have done this and this and that"
... were any of the men in hotd/got fit to rule, though? was viserys fit to rule? was robert baratheon? the king named rhaenyra his heir. that's all there is. that's a monarchy! she shouldn't have to be fit to rule or do anything else really. rhaenyra having to prove herself fit to rule when not a single man has ever had to do that, her being held to highest standards just to have the same thing they did is sexism plain and simple.
if rhaenyra was exactly the same person but had been born a man, nothing (s)he ever did would be an obstacle to her (his?) claim of the iron throne. and when a modern audience doesn't see that and wants her to prove herself worthy when no man has ever needed to do that, there's no excuse anymore. the world she lives in may be way more sexist than ours, but the audience watching the show is living in the 21st century. and if a woman is expected to do more than a man just because she is a woman, that's misogyny! hope that helps!

while that makes her a better character it doesn’t make her the perfect character
I think this is also why the writers didn’t want to focus too much on Rhaenyra’s relationship with Harwin: he was a massive character flaw.
She did everything by the book, including her marriage to Daemon, she did everything right except have three kids with a man who looks nothing like her husband.
That’s what I like about her, she’s a textbook heroine with a GRRM style twist but Ryan doesn’t like it. Rhaenyra’s violent streak becomes most apparent when people start questioning her sons’ paternity, thus destroying his picture perfect Princess who can do no wrong.
I honestly think if it wasn’t such a massive plot point for the Dance the HotD writers would’ve made JL&J Laenor’s kids who Rhaenyra remained 100% faithful to despite the fact he was galavanting around because that way she remains the perfect victim. The Greens’ cruel comments were nothing more than rumours to tarnish an innocent Princess’ reputation. Gag!
You can't blame Rhaenyra for that. If I was to put my life in risk at least four times for the sake of "duty" I too will be choosing the father of my children rather than the gay husband forced upon me. It was not a big deal either, no one really cared.

Why do we have this discourse about Daemon/Rhaenyra/Laena again? Isnt we can't wait for Daemon to choke her again next season? And dont forget about the cheating 😂😂😂 dont worry we have Laena 2.0 next seasons to save Daemon from Rhaenyra i dont understand why people were crying
The cheating is not confirmed, I personally don't believe it. And the choking scene was incredibly dumb and out of character. But the writers go out of their way to villify Daemon.
Also, Nettles is not Laena 2.0 they are completely different characters with different personalities and different backgrounds.

Yes Joffrey was an absolute menace but people still loved House Lannister because the writers didn’t try to act as though they were just as morally right as House Stark.
Tywin could’ve easily become a cartoonish villain, but a strong script and brilliant actor made a huge difference. Fans were making the argument that maybe Westeros would be better off with competent Tywin despite the fact he’s evil. Same goes for Cersei, fans loved to hate her but she did have a following because she was so unapologetic in everything she did. Tyrion was the fan favourite, beloved by all despite being loyal to his House. Jaime had a redemption arc but even then he remained solely Team Lannister. Nevertheless it still worked in their favour because the argument for House Lannister wasn’t “they’re just as good as House Stark!” it was “this family’s so evil they caused a civil war and killed a lot of faves, don’t you just love them” 😃
This is where Team Green were let down, you cannot win on the “we’re the rightful heirs!” argument so make a new one. Instead Ryan’s asking us to pick a rapist and a woman, as though this is cause for actual discussion 🤦🏽‍♀️
Well, we are yet to see how things will go for Jaime, Cersei and Tyrion (if George ever writes the books that is) but yes, people love unapologetic villains.
Majority of Green stans are Reddit bros that outright hate women, the rest seem to have reading comprehension issues or internalised misogyny.

Sadly, they will stick with this “Alicent/Rhaenyra friendship/feelings” until the very end. Rhaenicent is literally the spine of the show and they can’t change it now, they can’t act as if Rhaenyra and Alicent never loved each other. HOTD did a disservice of making Alicent and Rhaenyra into two silly and meek women who have no convictions, and who are stuck in these childish feelings that each have for the other, they are supposed to be ruthless, assertive and ambitious like their true personalities in the book, it is very frustrating that the men around Rhaenyra and Alicent has to remind them of the constant danger.
It's so dumb, they dumbed them down. I mean, Alicent is usurping the throne and thinks they can keep Rhaenyra alive. No girl, you can't, you are usurping her throne and as you haven't called for a Great Council the only outcome is war.
Then Rhaenyra thinks about accepting the terms as if that wouldn't put her children in more danger . The only logical character in episode 10 was Daemon.
The benevolent misogyny of it all.

“Where’s duty, where’s sacrifice”, let’s ask Naerys and Rhaella.
I’m sure they were happy to do their duties, their lives life were full of sacrifices, they were sooooo content with it right ?
The overwhelming majority of Westerosi queens and noble ladies have sacrificed their happiness to please their lord husbands even when they do not deserve it, Alicent is not unique.
The Greencels love to glorify that quote as if it was some big gotcha instead of a dumb and untrue quote. Naerys, Aemma and Rhaella did their duty, Alicent didn't. That quote just comes across as incredibly hypocritical, which matches perfectly with Alicent's personality. There is nothing good about doing your duty and sacrificing yourself, it doesn't make you morally pure or a good person. Someone should tell the Greens.

Alicent had tried for over a decade now to imply that Rhaenyra, the Crown Princess, and a married woman in Westeros has slept with men who are not her husband and birthed bastards. All her actions of asking for baby Joffrey the minute he was born or complaining to Viserys are to get him to acknowledge that the children are bastards, knowing full well what the consequences will be for Rhaenyra and the kids.
Men in that society are allowed to have bastards, women are not. Viserys ever acknowledging Rhaenyra’s actions could mean exile for Rhaenyra and her children at best or probably life in nunneries at worst.
When TG claim that Alicent is allowed to go to this extent to protect her own family, why can’t Rhaenyra use every means to defend her kids ?
People will excuse all of Alicen’t actions because she is scared that Rhaenyra will kill her children then why shouldn’t Rhaenyra be scared for her children’s lives ? If anything, Alicent is the only one at this point who has actively shown us that she is willing to completely eliminate Rhaenyra and her children.
This is another example of the double standards of the Greens. Alicent is allowed to attack and almost kill a six year old, she is allowed to do the vilest shit you can think of, because she was a child bride and her marriage was awful and she is just protecting her children. But Rhaenyra is not allowed to be anything other than perfect or they will hate on her, doesn't matter how tragic and painful her life has been as well.

every single time someone says something about Rhaegar being a neglectful father or fathering children solely for the PrOpHEcY I just. I JUST. Rhaenys went and hid under his bed. she ran and hid under her father's bed in the hopes that he would save her. the bed that was in a room above the nursery. ABOVE the nursery. do you understand? in the last moments of her life she ran to to her father for protection. she. ran and hid under Rhaegar's bed. she had to be dragged out from under it screaming to her last breath. okay. Okay? fuck doesn't anyone get it?

I honestly find Crystal Palace's story so interesting. We know from her memories that she had a lot of toxic anger and wasn't a particularly good person, but that's not who she is at her core. When Crystal loses her memories, while she may still have some anger (who wouldn't considering what she went through with David the Demon?), she is a kind person who wants to help others. She was willing to risk her life with the dandelion sprites to save Niko and was even willing to go to Hell with Charles to rescue Edwin. Crystal is a really good person, even if she wasn't before. That tells me her essence is good, and makes me wonder what it was about her life that made her behave the way she did. Was it her neglectful parents? Or something more? I'm not justifying her past behavior or trying to excuse it, but I think it's really interesting to explore how someone's circumstances could make them toxic and angry, and how maybe removing them from those circumstances (like when Crystal lost her memories and met Edwin & Charles), they could change into someone healthy and good. I also love stories that depict second changes. I'm eager to see more of Crystal's story and watch her continue to evolve & grow as a person.

Yes, Aemma would feel sympathy for her, but the second she started abusing Rhaenyra Aemma would hate her guts.
aemma was married at eleven and then deflowered at thirteen and from then on her entire life was spent as a broodmare birthing babes that died in their cradle and mourning children who had never taken their first breath but somehow you think this woman who suffered so much would be glad to see another woman suffer too

I kinda feel sorry for the Team Green cast, how do you even begin to explain why anyone should be TG? It would’ve been easier if HBO let them be villains but instead they’re pushing this ridiculous “both sides” script which makes 0 sense.
You can’t say both sides are bad when one side crowned a child abusing rapist whilst the other is simply a woman whose only crime is having a vagina.
I don't get why they didn't just let them be villains, people love unapologetic villains. Well, I do know, misogyny and their ow sense of superiority. They really thought they could create a fanfiction better than George's book and push for a more "complex" moraleja. Um? Moral of the story, I'm not sure how to say that in English.

Unpopular opinion: Daemon loved Laena more than he ever loved Rhaenyra.
Unpopular and untrue. If anything, he loved them both equally. And if we want to go by the book's account of Mushroom, the Septon and the Maester; he wanted to marry Rhaenyra first.
And no, it wasn't for power or the throne. If Daemon wanted any of those things he could've easily taken the throne after Baelon's and Aemma's death.
But, I am a LaenaxRhaenyraxDaemon truther. They were a threesome and loved each other.

Daemon literally choked Rhaenyra out less than a day after a stillbirth. Why are we acting like he was portrayed as treating her any better than Laena ?
Because Laena was treated as the second choice he didn't love.
