A sneak peak at one of my final prints from this set! At first I have to admit I didn't have faith in this project at all and I honestly thought it was going to look crap..... BUT once again my screen printing skills have surprised me and I love what I've created! The colours worked so well with the dark printed text over the top- just the boldness I wanted!

My new love in life is mixing inks together on screen... Something I've never done before but always wanted to experiment with! And it works SO well! Love how each print is different to the rest due to the different colour pattern!

Cute little experimental screen printed logo, not sure whether I'll use it but just wanted to see how the sizing printed

Experimental teddy girl prints! As much as I love the pink on pink for these prints I'm sure I'll use it in my final prints as its a bit too innocent a nice.... Something that the teds weren't!

Working on some illustrated lettering. I created this lettering using chalk and a blackboard before editing on Photoshop! I love the grainy textures the chalk creates, my fav so far is the text in the middle of the image! Especially how the letter D has turned out on dress mmmmm

Working on a new project based on the subculture of British youths in the 1950s.... The teddy girls! Editing my photos down ready for screen- all images used were taken by photographer Ken Russell in 1955!

Photos of my finished recent graphic arts research project (dissertation)! Actually rather proud of myself for this, not only for writing 8000 words on illustrated lettering but for also making it into a snazzy publication!

I used the images I had collected and added a few more so I had 12, enough to make the clock face. This was my favourite out of the girls initial designs so I chose to experiment with this first rather than the grid layout, I also kept the Baskerville 8. I began by trying to spread the items out evenly, I did this by placing the images over the origional design so everything would be in a perfect circle. It took a bit of tweaking to get it right, adjusting sizes so everything matched but I'm pleased with the redesign I've made. I chose to just recreate the circle of images and photoshop this onto the existing advert as I really liked the text and the layout so I didn't see any point in changing it.
At first I wasn't confident it would work well with photos of the items but I think with the right colour scheme and images I've made a successful outcome! I used photoshop to put the redesigned ad into the magazine and I think it actually works a lot better than our first piece. Ant was right- using real images makes the advert a lot bolder!
I then had a go at putting my new design onto our final photograph of the bags, this was actually very tricky and the outcome isn't the best but I can still see how it makes a bolder outcome. I'm going to have a play around with photo-shopping the design 1 or 2 other photos of the bags, doing a more precise job as I'd like to see if it works with the others too.
