Tsundere
Erick Ballo rolled Tsundere as one of his traits, and I’m thrilled to write this novel.

“Unwanted Harem”
Tristan, the one gay character, just rolled “Unwanted Harem” as one of his tropes, so I guess at least some of the girls are going to have some unrequited love.

Also both grandparents on the Baltimore side studied Psychology.
A Family of Geeks
Kyla’s parents are a computer scientist and a chemical engineer. Of course she’s studying human biology (probably premed) and her brother is an electrical engineer.

Majors
I ended up taking the 2013-17 enrollment stats for Stanford and Yale to determine majors for the characters. I’m not sure if I should be rolling to see if any pre-med/law or dual-majoring.

The Kones
Camila (15) & Valerie (14) Kone are in the same grade after Camila was held back. Undoubtedly, Camila would have been teased if they ever ended up in the same class or her peers from her original grade realized she repeated the grade.
I imagine they typically get asked if they’re twins, and then the girls say they aren’t, and then the person asking tries to probe for the reason why.

NaNoWriMo is fast approaching. I have 177 characters rolled, and I never actually figured out how to determine people’s majors. There were also a couple more traits I wanted to add in, so that’s probably my free time tonight/tomorrow.

cw: death
The youngest child from the first marriage, Mia Foo, passed away two months shy of her fourth birthday. This was after the divorce, but I imagine her parents still mourned together. Shamar was probably particularly shaken, given that they shared a birthday and he was eight when she died.
Leah Walline’s children
cw: loss of pregnancy
Leah Walline was married 3 times. With the first husband, they wanted to have two kids. They conceived after a year easily, but then Leah miscarried two separate times (two years between each). Finally, they had their second child on the 5th birthday of their first - May 8, 2002. They still didn’t manage to stay together, and ultimately they divorced when the oldest was 7 and the youngest was 2. They kept shared custody of the children.
The second husband wanted them to have their own children, but they miscarried twice before getting divorced in 2010. It was probably a contributing factor in the divorce.
The third husband also wanted to have their own children. Leah miscarried in June of 2013, but then they had a slightly premature baby on Christmas day of 2014 when Leah had just turned 43. They got divorced less than two years later and the father kept custody of their daughter.

cw: infant death
ALSO after all this trouble, the third child, the youngest, died within the first year (like the third Kone child). How did two children roll <0.6% to get that result??

cw: infant death
So it turns out I should probably run the “age of death” randomization while figuring out how many kids people will have. The third Kone kid, the only son, died within the first year.
Rosa Kone is apparently super fertile
Rosa wanted to have 3 kids with Mickey. After a miscarriage in the first year of trying, she got pregnant in November of 2001. The next year she was able to conceive, she did in August of 2003. She got pregnant again in December of 2004, just about 6 months after her second child was born. Before Mickey went through with his vasectomy, they got pregnant in December of 2005. So they ended up having 4 kids before Rosa got an IUD so she wasn’t relying on Mickey to get snipped. After the baby of the family started preschool, they got a divorce.

Welp...
Eula and Alejandro’s daughter would have gotten divorced, but her husband passed away 6 years before that would happen :(

148 people! 5 marriages, no children because the only pair that wanted kids got married in 2017 and didn’t conceive in the first year. I’ve officially completed the families as far as I’m going to. There are technically some ex-spouses and siblings-in-law for the aunts/uncles but I honestly don’t care about them.
NOW FOR THE STAFF.
Just 8 random characters...
…and their siblings and parents
…and their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins
…and the staff
Yeah, that’s only, like, 100 people. No big deal.

I finished the cousins and we’re up to 143 people. I haven’t checked if cousins got married or had kids. One sibling is engaged, though. Also still no staff.

Joyce & Wilbur Miranda
I thought I already made this post but apparently not
cw: loss of pregnancies, trouble conceiving
Most of my characters didn’t have a problem conceiving. Of the first six I rolled (i.e. before Leah who I just posted about) only one couple had problems: Joyce and Wilbur Miranda. Joyce (maiden name Thobe) is Tristan’s aunt. Wilbur Miranda is his Puerto Rican uncle by marriage.
They wanted to have three kids. The first came easily, conceived the same year they got married. July 3, 1994 they had their first son. Unfortunately, in November of 1995 and both May and November of 1997, Joyce miscarried. That was a hard year. Still, they wanted to have more children, and in July of 1998 Joyce got pregnant again. April 11, 1999, they had their second child, a girl. It was another three years before they got pregnant again in May of 2001, but Joyce miscarried again in July.
After that she was in her 30s, and it was harder to conceive. She worried they may not be able to have their third child. When she was 35, she conceived again. Unfortunately, she miscarried in December of 2005. She was distraught and almost gave up trying to conceive. Her husband and she agreed to try for one more year, and in August of 2006 they conceived their last child, their second son. He was born May 30, 2007.

Okay but seriously, who divorces someone 3 months after a miscarriage? Judson (husband #2) is a total jerk. Ain’t no one got time for that. No wonder Leah only hyphenated last names that time.
