A Spoiler-Free Review of Cyberpunk 2077
Night City is a vast open world full of choice and consequence, interesting characters and engaging combat, awe inspiring infrastructure and an amazing soundtrack, there’s no denying that this game was a labor of love... to the people who can run it anyway. It’s no secret that PS4 and Xbox One players have had issues with performance, with game breaking glitches and excruciating lag it’s no wonder players are up in arms over CD Project Red’s newest title. However for players on mid-to-high tier PCs, PS5, and Stadia, the game runs like a dream. The story is compelling and the side quests are equally as entertaining if not more so. V’s journey is complex and unique to every player, with branching dialogues and in depth character relationships, this is not a game to miss out on if you’ve got the hardware for it.

Hot Take, The Last of Us Part 2 did not deserve Game of the Year, and it’s not because of Abby’s appearance
The Last of Us Part 2 took a lot of awards home at the Game Awards several nights ago, chief among them being Game of the Year. I would argue that there were better options. Those who played the original Last of Us know the relationship between Ellie and Joel, and the work it took for these two to become as close as they are. Players fell in love with these characters and their dynamic as surrogate father and daughter. Then you have The Last of Us Part 2. It goes without saying but beware of spoilers if you haven’t completed the game up to this point.
Joel dying was not the worst thing to happen to the series. Heart wrenching? Sure. Absolutely. But it sets Ellie on the warpath and gives her a goal that veteran fans will very easily fall in line with and have no problem relating to. Ellie’s story in this game is one of rage, grief, and ultimately, acceptance. Then, halfway through the story we switch perspectives from the familiar Ellie, to the very person that we have been hunting for the entirety of the game, someone we have grown to hate. Abby. Naughty Dog attempting to humanize Abby and show her side of the story was a noble attempt, but it ended up leaving a bitter taste in my mouth and lasted entirely too long. Joel and Ellie are certainly no saints, but Abby takes the cake as shittiest person to ever be a playable character. Not only does she kill a beloved character but she treats her friends poorly, and even helps her ex, Owen, cheat on his pregnant fiance. The entire time I played as Abby I had nothing but complete contempt for her, and wanted nothing more than to go back to playing as Ellie, and following her story. My disdain for her as a character would not be so damning for the game in my eyes, if it wasn’t for the fact that the entire second half of the game revolves entirely around her. Finding out that her friends, who are equally as terrible, are dead(by Ellie’s hand), and her finding retribution for her sins through taking care of Tran, did nothing for me. I simply couldn’t be bothered to give a shit about this person’s story after what she had done.
If the game had been restructured in a way that we didn’t know it was her that killed Joel until much later in the game, I think I would’ve been more considerate of her circumstances and maybe even have gotten more attached to her as a character. The buildings are there for an interesting character dynamic, but as it stands, she was poorly executed in my eyes.

Thoughts on Cyberpunk 2077
There’s no denying the game is rich in content, with so many different choices, play styles, and endings, it’s hard to run out of things to do in Night City. Outside of bugs, what are some things that you think CDPR could have improved with the game?
