General installation information
As you prepare to install this patch, keep the following in mind:
Administrative privileges
In order to apply this patch, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.
Product media
Under some circumstances, you may be asked to provide the original installation source.
If you installed Autodesk Revit 2017 from the DVD or USB, you may be asked to insert the disk or USB during installation of the patch. Please have the disk or USB available before starting.
If you downloaded and installed Autodesk Revit 2017 from the web and later deleted the extracted files (default location of extracted files is C:AutodeskWIAutodesk Revit 2017), the patch installation may not be able to continue. In that case, you should follow these steps:
Obtain the web download file and save it to your computer.
Double click the download file and allow it to extract its files, noting where they are being saved.
When the Autodesk Revit installer screen appears, click 'Cancel'.
Continue with the patch installation as described in the installation instructions.
Backup custom files
Back up all customized files, such as Revit.ini, before starting.
Network deployment
Special command line switches are available for administrators.
/q - Suppresses the completion message after this patch is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file to apply this patch to multiple computers.
Installation instructions
Follow these instructions to install this patch on a singlecomputer.
Download Autodesk_Revit_2017_2.exe and save it to any folder.
Ensure the original product installation media is available.
Find the folder where you saved the patch and double-click the patch (EXE) file.
Apply this patch to a deployment installation image
Follow these instructions to apply this patch to a deployment image.
Start the Autodesk Revit 2017 deployment creation process. If you need to add a patch to an existing deployment image, launch the update shortcut located in the ToolsApplyUpdates folder and skip to step 4.
When the deployment creation or modification process is complete and the Deployment Configuration Complete dialog is displayed, click Add Updates.
If a Security Warning dialog is displayed, click Run.
In the Autodesk Application Manager, click Update Software.
Click Add for the patch to be applied to this deployment image.
Once the patch has been successfully downloaded, click Close to exit the Autodesk Application Manager.
Note: This patch cannot be uninstalled to revert Autodesk Revit 2017 to its pre-patch state. If you need to remove the patch, please uninstall Autodesk Revit 2017 and then reinstall it.

Preliminary
This blog post details the technical difficulties faced when trying to migrate from using KeePass to LastPass. KeePass has been an excellent password companion for the last 6 years and I’ve been using MiniKeePass for iOS, loading my password safe from Dropbox quite happily. But since starting to use a Chromebook I’ve been increasingly frustrated in this area. There are a few Chrome extensions that provide access to KeePass. CKP has 4.5 stars in the Chrome app store, but I’ve found this browser extension clunky and annoying to say the least. Manual search in CKP doesn’t work properly and despite the good reviews overall the experience in my opinion is poor. Not to mention it only gives read-only access to the password safe.
Once imported, you will have a kdbx-file, which is the encrypted KeePass database, and somewhere along the process you have to create a password for the database-file. Think of it as your master password from LastPass, the one password that gives you access to your vault. The password list is saved by default as a.kdbx file, but it can be exported to TXT, HTML, XML and CSV. The XML output can be used in other applications and re-imported into KeePass using a plugin. The CSV output is compatible with many other password safes like the commercial closed-source Password Keeper and the closed-source Password Agent.
So I finally bit the bullet and decided to migrate to LastPass, after months of frustration trying to access my password safe from ChromeOS.
Here I document my migration woes, for no other reason than to provide help to anyone who might be googling for this info!
The import
LastPass supports importing from KeePass. You have to export to XML then upload the XML. Sounds simple, but fraught with the following problems.
Tip #1: use Firefox. Don’t question this, just install Firefox and run the import in Firefox. This solves a lot of issues.
Tip #2: if you used folders in KeePass, consider exporting each folder as a separate XML file. If you export the whole database, the result is that *all* your folders will be in a top-level folder. There’s no obvious way to change this later.
Problem: import process hangs
Solution:
My KeePass database had a folder structure. As per Tip #2 above, split up your export into different XML files, one per top-level folder. To do this, right click on your folder in KeePass and there’s your option to export
The process can still hang, and I scoured the XML file for possible issues, however I learned after much trial and error that the hanging was random and not related to strange characters. Delete the folder that may or may not have been imported into LastPass by right-clicking on the folder in the web interface. Again – don’t attempt this in any other browser than Firefox, results are highly unreliable in Chrome! Then simply re-attempt to import. For me at least, it worked on the second or third try.
Problem: Items are imported as note ITEMS, not website ITEMS
I used KeePass to store credentials for websites, banking, etc., as well as other personal info like driver’s licence info etc.
LastPass stores items as different object types. Anything you import that had something in the URL field in KeePass will be stored into a website item. Anything else will become a “Secure Note” of type “General”.
So if you’re like me and didn’t really bother putting anything in the URL field in some / many / all of your entries in KeePass, you’ll need to do the following.
What you need to do is edit your XML file before importing to give the URL field some value. I gave mine this: http:/0 as if you accidentally attempt to launch the website we don’t want LastPass attempting to send your credentials to a website that actually exists like www.null.com (yes, it exists…)
To do the above, using Sublime Text Editor:
Remove leading whitespace from the XML file, otherwise the following step won’t work. Press Ctrl-H to find and replace, click the Regex button, and use this string ^(^Srn)+ and make sure nothing is typed into the replace box. Replace all to remove leading spaces / tabs
You now want to find and replace all instances of the URL field where it’s blank, but not where it’s not. Find multiline string

When you ask someone to send you a contract or a report there is a high probability that you’ll get a DOCX file. Whether you like it not, it makes sense considering that 1.2 billion people use Microsoft Office although a definition of “use” is quite vague in this case. DOCX is a binary file which is, unlike XLSX, not famous for being easy to integrate into your application. PDF is much easier when you care more about how a document is displayed than its abilities for further modifications. Let’s focus on that.
Python-docx versions 0.3.0 and later are not API-compatible with prior versions. Python-docx is hosted on PyPI, so installation is relatively simple, and just depends on what installation utilities you have installed. Python-docx may be installed with pip if you have it available.
Installing Python-Docx Library Several libraries exist that can be used to read and write MS Word files in Python. However, we will be using the python-docx module owing to its ease-of-use. Execute the following pip command in your terminal to download the python-docx module as shown below.
Python has a few great libraries to work with DOCX (python-dox) and PDF files (PyPDF2, pdfrw). Those are good choices and a lot of fun to read or write files. That said, I know I'd fail miserably trying to achieve 1:1 conversion.

Looking further I came across unoconv. Universal Office Converter is a library that’s converting any document format supported by LibreOffice/OpenOffice. That sound like a solid solution for my use case where I care more about quality than anything else. As execution time isn't my problem I have been only concerned whether it’s possible to run LibreOffice without X display. Apparently, LibreOffice can be run in haedless mode and supports conversion between various formats, sweet!
I’m grateful to unoconv for an idea and great README explaining multiple problems I can come across. In the same time, I’m put off by the number of open issues and abandoned pull requests. If I get versions right, how hard can it be? Not hard at all, with few caveats though.
Testing converter
LibreOffice is available on all major platforms and has an active community. It's not active as new-hot-js-framework-active but still with plenty of good read and support. You can get your copy from the download page. Be a good user and go with up-to-date version. You can always downgrade in case of any problems and feedback on latest release is always appreciated.
On macOS and Windows executable is called soffice and libreoffice on Linux. I'm on macOS, executable soffice isn't available in my PATH after the installation but you can find it inside the LibreOffice.app. To test how LibreOffice deals with your files you can run:
In my case results were more than satisfying. The only problem I saw was a misalignment in a file when the alignment was done with spaces, sad but true. This problem was caused by missing fonts and different width of 'replacements' fonts. No worries, we'll address this problem later.
Setup I
While reading unoconv issues I've noticed that many problems are connected due to the mismatch of the versions. I'm going with Docker so I can have pretty stable setup and so I can be sure that everything works.
Let's start with defining simple Dockerfile, just with dependencies and ADD one DOCX file just for testing:

Running LibreOffice as a subprocess
We want to run LibreOffice converter as a subprocess and provide the same API for all platforms. Let's define a module which can be run as a standalone script or which we can later import on our server.
Required arguments which convert_to accepts are folder to which we save PDF and a path to the source file. Optionally we specify a timeout in seconds. I’m saying optional but consider it mandatory. We don’t want a process to hang too long in case of any problems or just to limit computation time we are able to give away to each conversion. LibreOffice executable location and name depends on the platform so edit libreoffice_exec to support platform you’re using.
subprocess.run doesn’t capture stdout and stderr by default. We can easily change the default behavior by passing subprocess.PIPE. Unfortunately, in the case of the failure, LibreOffice will fail with return code 0 and nothing will be written to stderr. I decided to look for the success message assuming that it won’t be there in case of an error and raise LibreOfficeError otherwise. This approach hasn’t failed me so far.
Uploading files with Flask
Converting using the command line is ok for testing and development but won't take us far. Let's build a simple server in Flask.
We'll need few helper function to work with files and few custom errors for handling error messages. Upload directory path is defined in config.py. You can also consider using flask-restplus or flask-restful which makes handling errors a little easier.
The server is pretty straightforward. In production, you would probably want to use some kind of authentication to limit access to uploads directory. If not, give up on serving static files with Flask and go for Nginx.
Important take-away from this example is that you want to tell your app to be threaded so one request won't prevent other routes from being served. However, WSGI server included with Flask is not production ready and focuses on development. In production, you want to use a proper server with automatic worker process management like gunicorn. Check the docs for an example how to integrate gunicorn into your app. We are going to run the application inside a container so host has to be set to publicly visible 0.0.0.0.
Setup II
Now when we have a server we can update Dockerfile. We need to copy our application source code to the image filesystem and install required dependencies.
In docker-compose.yml we want to specify ports mapping and mount a volume. If you followed the code and you tried running examples you have probably noticed that we were missing the way to tell Flask to run in a debugging mode. Defining environment variable without a value is causing that this variable is going to be passed to the container from the host system. Alternatively, you can provide different config files for different environments.
Supporting custom fonts
I've mentioned a problem with missing fonts earlier. LibreOffice can, of course, make use of custom fonts. If you can predict which fonts your user might be using there's a simple remedy. Add following line to your Dockfile.
Now when you put custom font file in the font directory in your project, rebuild the image. From now on you support custom fonts!
Summary
This should give you the idea how you can provide quality conversion of different documents to PDF. Although the main goal was to convert a DOCX file you should be fine with presentations, spreadsheets or images.
Further improvements could be providing support for multiple files, the converter can be configured to accept more than one file as well.

The code is an expansion/contraction of python-docx2txt (Copyright (c) 2015 Ankush Shah). The original code is mostly gone, but some of the bones may still be here.

Some structure will be maintained. Text will be returned in a nested list, with paragraphs always at depth 4 (i.e., output.body[i][j][k][l] will be a paragraph).

Pearl Fishers Duet

The story of The Pearl Fishers revolves around a love triangle between Zurga, the leader of a fishing village, his old friend Nadir, and the priestess Leïla. Act I sets up this triangle, as Zurga and Nadir reunite after many years and recall how their friendship had been endangered because they were both in love with an anonymous priestess. In their famous duet, they pledge to never let their friendship be threatened again. A veiled priestess arrives and to absolutely nobody in the audience’s surprise she turns out to be the very woman that Zurga and Nadir once quarreled over. Nadir recognizes Leïla by her voice and they confess their continuing love, but are caught by the high priest Nourabad, who accuses Leïla of breaking her vow of chastity. Leïla is unveiled and Zurga, furious at his betrayal, condemns both Leïla and Nadir to death. In Act II, Zurga questions his decision but is further enraged when Leïla confesses her love of Nadir in an attempt to save him. However, Nadir ultimately rescues them both after discovering that Leïla had at one point sheltered him from a mob. In order to facilitate their escape, he sets fire to the village as a distraction and the opera ends rather ambiguously with Zurga awaiting the return of the villagers and his presumed punishment. Later productions of the opera added on a final reckoning for Zurga at the hands of the villagers.

The links in the synopsis go to specific points in a production by the Port Luis Opera in Mauritius and features the sort of staging we will see from the Utah Opera production. Unfortunately it seems that none of the full productions available online feature subtitles in English, but a libretto can be found here.
Act 1
The opera opens with a chorus scene of fishermen and village women that sets the scene for the entire opera, referencing a “fiery beach,” “black-eyed girls,” and superstitious belief systems. The music here is an excellent example of the “orientalist” style associated with non-European “primitives” in the 19th century, beginning with a bagpipe-ish open-fifths drone and a dance rhythm on the tambourine. It also reminds a little of the “natives” music from the 1933 film King Kong, just one example of the longevity of this musical idiom. Zurga interrupts the dancing and notes that they need to choose a leader, and he is pleasantly surprised when they choose him.
In the next scene, Nadir arrives and is introduced as the long-lost friend of Zurga. He recounts his time in the wilderness and he and Zurga reminisce a little, although they recount that their relationship had been strained at one point because they both were in love with the same beautiful woman. In the famous duet, “Au fond du temple saint” they recount seeing her and note that even now the thought of her drives them apart, so they pledge to eternally remain friends. The chorus repeats their opening number amid much celebrating.
These two scenes are also an excellent example of the ways in which The Pearl Fishers adhered to the schemas and frameworks of operas in the time period. It was standard practice to begin an opera with a chorus dance number, followed by a dialogue between a soloist and the crowd, the introduction of the hero and other characters, and ending with a reprise of the opening chorus. Of course, these schemas became standardized because they were effective and efficient means to a dramatic end, especially if time was of the essence during the writing process. However, composers and librettists had to tread carefully lest their work become too “cookie cutter” as a result.
Continuing on, Zurga then sees a boat arriving and states that it must be an anonymous priestess, whose face no one can see, who comes every year to provide spiritual protection for the tribe. Leïla arrives and swears to remain faithful to her vows to pray by the sea day and night while remaining hidden behind her veil and take no friends, husbands, or lovers. In a bit of foreshadowing, Zurga threatens that the price for her betrayal would be death. Leïla suddenly recognizes Nadir and is shaken up by his presence. Zurga notices her anxiety and reminds her that she could leave and be free but she composes herself and commits to her duty.
Pearl Fishers Duet Music
After the villagers leave, Nadir remains alone and reflects on the fact that he recognized Leïla’s voice. He feels as if he should have told Zurga who she was, but he is so excited to see her again in spite of his earlier vow that he sings a wonderful aria, “Je crois entendre encore” and then goes to sleep. At this point the opera has a perfect pair of vows at cross-purposes between Nadir and Leïla. The fact that the conflict could have been avoided if Leïla had spoken up during her initiation or if Nadir revealed his knowledge of her identity to Zurga makes it all the more poignant (or frustratingly unbelievable, depending on how one views the libretto).
The final scene of Act 1 finds Leïla beginning her prayers at the sea with the priest Nourabad and a chorus of fakirs. Nadir awakens to the sound of her voice and Leïla continues with her prayer to the spirits. She briefly draws her veil aside and sees Nadir and subtly alters the final words of her prayer to now address him instead of the gods and spirits.
Act 2
The second act begins with Leïla and Nourabad overlooking the shore. Leïla underscores her faithfulness to him by telling a story of when she saved a fugitive from a mob even as her own life was threatened. She is left alone and sings an ariaconveying her feelings for Nadir and her happiness at encountering him again. An oboe (double reeds are a favorite for conveying “exotic” flavor given their family relationship to shawms and a host of other non-Western reed instruments) signals Nadir’s entrance as he sings from offstage. After his entrance, Nadir and Leïla confess their love for one another despite the vows that would keep them apart and promise to meet again every evening.
However, when Nadir tries to sneak away he is found out by the fishermen who had been guarding Leïla’s position on the rocks. The priest Nourabad and the rest of the tribe vow to kill them for their treachery. Leïla is terrified while Nadir remains defiant. Zurga arrives and manages to calm the situation and convinces the fishermen to be content with merely banishing the two of them. However, Nourabad unveils Leïla and when Zurga recognizes her he realizes that he too has been betrayed so he orders death for them both.
Act 3
In Act 3 we find Zurga torn over the fact that he has condemned his friend to death and regretting his rash decision to have them both Leïla and Nadir killed. Leïla interrupts his soliloquy and implores him to spare Nadir and only execute her, but her demonstration of love for Nadir only further enrages Zurga. However, as she is being taken away for execution, she gives her necklace to a young fisherman and Zurga recognizes that she was the woman who had saved him many years ago (recall Leïla’s story to Nourabad in Act 2 of having saved an anonymous fugitive).

The second half of Act 3 centers around the funeral pyre on which Nadir and Leïla are to be executed. A crowd of villagers surrounds the pyre and sings of their thirst for blood and vengeance. Suddenly the rear of the scene is light by a red light and Zurga arrives carrying an axe and tells the villagers that the village is on fire and they should run and save their children. All of the villagers leave except for Zurga, Nadir, Leïla, and the priest Nourabad, who hides in order to see what transpires. Zurga confesses to Nadir and Leïla that he lit the fire in the village and releases them, at which point Nourabad dashes off to warn the villagers. The three sing an almost oddly jubilant trio, given that they aren’t out of danger yet (especially Zurga).
The original version of the opera apparently ended with this scene or with Zurga sending them away as he awaits his fate. However, to have one of the major character’s fates left ambiguous was highly irregular, so the late 19th century revivals of The Pearl Fishers altered the ending to include Zurga’s death in order to satisfy the conventional demand for closure. In the extended finale of this performance Nourabad returns with some villagers and denounces Zurga. Zurga fights with the villagers but is stabbed and left for dead. As he is dying, he bids farewell to Leïla while she and Nadir sing from afar of their newfound happiness.

Gns3 Meraki
The conversion tool used in GNS3 1+ to load labs made for GNS3 0.8.x (.net -.gns3) has been improved, but there may be some glitches left. If the conversion does not work correctly for a particular lab, you should use the old 0.8.7 release of GNS3 for it. It is possible to have multiple releases of GNS3. This is a just a quick post to show an example of the Get-MailboxStatistics command in Microsoft Exchange. This command is useful if you want to pull off information about your user’s mailboxes including size, mailbox database and other attributes. The actual gns3 VMware has 10.10.10.54. My home office is connected to the office via a meraki firewall and VPN tunnel between the two. I can ping the 10.10.10.54 server and see it is running. I can connect gns3 to the VMware server.
