Sometimes I get so tired of the almond moms of media consumption. I get that not all pieces of media are created equal: that is an objective fact. Some of it is pure garbage. But garbage can still be entertaining garbage. Not everything you consume has to be a perfectly constructed story, not every plot has to be neatly tied up. Media can be flawed, media can be silly and stupid, and you can still enjoy it.

Criticism has its place. Analysis does too. And some pieces of content will be beautifully constructed… but some of them will be beautiful disasters, or even beautifully mediocre, or simply beautifully fun. The main point is that it all has beauty in it. Even the ugly. If it inspires creativity, or entertainment, or feeling, and it isn’t hurting anybody, then it is a GOOD ENOUGH piece of media.

So shut up. Everybody is allowed to scarf down trash media. Everybody is allowed to have fun. In fact, I encourage it.

Life is too short to worry about plot holes, or perfect characters, or anything like that. Not everything is perfect, and striving for it 24/7 must be agonizing.

Junk food, too, is part of a balanced diet. Eat your Doritos, consume mediocre media.
