Well, I'm not sure how to explain how GD has viewed his music and art over the years, since he has changed his vision on it multiple times (and his music has changed with him) and he has been making music for YEARS now. So, a lot of this is my interpretation and brief summary of all the things he has shared with us over the years :)).

When he was asked about how he writes love songs in 'Night After Night' (a GEM of GTOP content, GO WATCH IT OR YOU'RE A BAD SHIPPER), he simply said 'You need to add a bit of your own feelings to make it relatable'. Which is why I believe he probably does/did get inspiration from many different sources when writing music and not all of it is/was necessarily a reflection of his life.

For example, 'Missing You' is a break up song but I feel that it is simply a romanization of how much he misses Tabi because they have separate schedules (especially with how happy T.O.P seemed when GD sang it live, even whispering something to Tae before starting to sing along :)) That, combined with Tabi's ODD comment about how 'Lies' was written when they were having a tough time, and the way these two treated and spoke about 'Haru Haru' (GD even implying he saw GTOP posts about it and appreciated the reactions from netizens because it was an emotional song for him to write) makes me always, ALWAYS wonder about which songs are GTOP).

I can say a few things with certainty; he is a very visual person (like T.O.P, lmao) and always has an idea of what his 'mv' will look like while writing, a lot of the music he wrote was a 'diary entry'; it was something he felt in the moment and can therefore be personal but also a romanization of how he felt, and he can't simply "write songs", he needs some sort of genuine inspiration, regardless of whether this inspiration is his muse or his reason and motivation for writing songs, especially since he has admitted to having a pretty severe musical block in 2014 which he was only able to escape by keeping the people around him in mind and working for them.

GD romanticized his feelings quite a lot, imo, especially before 'Coup D'Etat', (because of the sheer volume of songs he used to write before), and after that album I feel like he wrote things closer to his heart.. GD&TOP are as open as they can be, about every feeling in their lives, even romance to a certain extent, considering the circumstances (dating his literal band mate in a homophobic society) and I respect that. GD mostly adds context to how he came up with the song sonically, because he actually expresses himself a lot more through his instrumentals, rather than purely through his lyrics.

Like how they say here that 'Bae Bae' is a fun little song GD&TOP wrote together while totally not thinking about women (and Seunghyun being sassy and going all "I wrote those lyrics" when the interviewer mentions Kiko's age being connected to the song, something GD didn't even seem to know? Lmao, how HARSH for someone who takes being in love very seriously if that really is his girl (which she clearly isn't)).

And here's Tabi letting us know what's up (as if him shutting the interviewer down for implying that Kiko was the muse wasn't enough) (and getting low key PISSED at Tae for saying "man and woman". He was probably thinking "Again, I wrote those lyrics??").

GD has been 100% open about a few romantic songs, like 'This Love' and the story behind it. He allegedly had a pre debut girlfriend/crush for whom he wrote this song (netizens has possibly found this girl, we didn't get much since her cyworld was used as the main source, except a few pictures, her name and the birthday GD drops in this song being possibly factually accurate. Or maybe he romanticized his feelings for T.O.P, that's something I've heard people say quite often, since he seemed to already have a crush on T.O.P by then).

He also made it clear that R.O.D wasn't written for a woman, despite the fact that he sings "Me and girlfriend", so don't let anyone tell you Bonamana isn't about Tabi because he used the word "girl" in it.

And honestly, I don't think GD is the only one who can have a hard time lying about his inspiration. During an interview, T.O.P said that he wrote the song 'Girlfriend' for VIPs, his fans, but here he couldn't say that lie very easily, especially after being reminded of how hard he worked on making his verse as perfect as he could (and being a bit tipsy). Watch the whole video tho, I rewatched it for this ask and realized I kinda just paraphrased what they said in this video..lmao..all that analyzing for nothing..

Do you think Jiyong likes gtop reels and posts stories related to TOP just to get on Seunghyun's nerve, because he is mad that TOP broke up with him? I mean, Jiyong knows that his actions will draw a lot of attention to Seunghyun and their past, and he doesn't want to be acociated to band anymore.

Moreover, if GD really wants to get TOP back he could find a way to talk to him personally and not be so demonstrative.

Hello anon! :)) This question wasn't easy. Not because I don't have an opinion, but because I am not sure how to clearly express myself. So hopefully this is a clear response.

So like, first of all, don’t take TOP’s word on absolutely everything. I know I sound harsh, but T.O.P has an easier time being dishonest in comparison to GD. He has admitted to being sort of a pathological liar in the past, despite the fact that he can be very open during interviews (he really showed his soul in multiple interviews, it's refreshing but also, maybe he tends to overshare?) and GD himself has also complained about it (during an interview, he said something along the lines of "Since TOP is an actor, you never know when he is serious when he is saying something..”) so like, I'd rather look at his actions. (Btw, here's a cute GD&TOP vid with TOP admitting that he's a pathological liar, even tho here it is jokingly).

His actions are: he literally used the traffic light lyrics from Last Dance during Squid Game again, he ad libbed Big Bang and GD&TOP dance moves, how Gyeong-Su (who was his biggest fan) was the one betrayed by T.O.P (could be the betrayal he feels towards treating his fans, in his eyes, horribly) and how Min-Su (in my delulu head) could represent Daesung, especially with how he spoke about the character later on. He also references himself, T.O.P, a lot, since he has spoken in the past about the gap between TOP and Seunghyun being to wide, and idk, Squid Game 2 feels like him finally getting a chance to make art again and process his emotions, the way he used to with his art. And to me personally, him having purple hair means a LOT (since the purple heart is the one GD used to represent Seunghyun). And delulu one: the silver ring he wore for his photoshoot might’ve been a couple item, like the one that GD obsessively wore before.

Anyways, now to actually answer your question.

Jiyong cares about Seunghyun. I know a lot of rumours started to fly about how GD doesn’t and that he made Seunghyun leave over “creative differences” or other stuff, but GD is deeply in love with Seunghyun and I can never bring myself to believe these rumours. Especially because these two have been working side by side for YEARS, and after 2010 practically all Big Bang songs had the two of them working on it together. Even Still Life was written by just the two of them. I am shocked people can still deny that GD cares for T.O.P, regardless of whether they ship GTOP or not, with all the clear peeks we got into their dynamics pre dating and then while dating, despite them being more private and secretive for obvious reasons.

One thing that has always stood out to me is that years after the pain, GD still gets hurt when someone mentions TOP’s ex girlfriends (for whom he wrote That XX, since it is my personal opinion that he posted Bad Religion by Frank Ocean around the time he finished filming the mv because he wanted to express his pain in some way, added to the fact that during his live OOAK countdown he couldn't bring himself to lie and say this song was written for a girl with a boyfriend, and instead said it was written about being in love with someone with a girlfriend. That, connected to him wearing the blue bracelets throughout the mv... I mean, my opinion is clear.. Even in this clip, the mention of T.O.P's exes and T.O.P saying he isn't dating makes GD upset/uncomfortable... Gosh he makes it too obvious which stories are GTOP and which aren't and which are fake (because mind you, these shows are often scripted)). ALSO IF ANYYYY OF YOU HAVE A LINK TO THE FULL VIDEO; SEND. I WANNA OVERANALYSE cuz this is SUCH a golden GTOP interview imho.

I can't imagine GD being bitter for longer than a few days, because across all these years we've seen time and time again that Seunghyun is GD's greatest soft spot. Now to get into a few reasons connected to why I still believe my own words still ring true (and possible reasons for the GTOP likes).

a) They have a history of liking GTOP content. Genuinely, just look into the content Seunghyun and Jiyong have liked and posted even. One of the manips GD posted for T.O.P's birthday was taken from an Insta account that clearly ships them, and so did T.O.P's announcement story from when GD returned from the military. They’ve publicly reminisced and interacted with GTOP content in the past and that's what GD is doing now, again.

b) GD has a history of being expressive on Instagram and through his Instagram likes. There was a time when he didn't have his private Instagram and liked a LOT of queer-coded content. People then proclaimed he liked that content to look "cool" and was pretending for fan service, even tho that's a VERY absurd idea? He then had a public meltdown because of his break up in 2014 and people still believed he did it for "marketing", which, again, is CRAZY? Even tho he apologised for his drunk and depressing behaviour and 2 weeks later (2 WEEKS. Like. That’s an unreasonable amount of time) publicly unfollowed Kiko and made a private account. Even this year, he liked a reel implying he was queer, with a clip of him saying he had a boyfriend during the OOAK tour (and everyone brushed this like off as a joke, as they always do). GD expresses his emotions about as openly as one can as an idol, and it is heartbreaking to me that it is seen as him being fake, and in this case trying to get on Seunghyun's nerves or trying to annoy and bother him. GD was also liking GTOP content in their previous break up of 2013 (except he was probably more drunk while doing it lmao) and liked a T.O.P post (he was tagged, but still, interesting imho) during his public meltdown breakup of 2014 so it is imo his way to cope with being away from Seunghyun.

c) Jiyong posted an OT3 post to celebrate the anniversary of "Still Life". If he really wanted to bother T.O.P and force him into being attached to the Big Bang name, that was the perfect opportunity. Very few people were criticizing GD for his OT4 ways (also, fair warning; GD is KNOWN for being an active netizen, be careful y'all, he sees you) and making the post OT4 would've been what all the fans wanted. He didn't do it tho, because he respected T.O.P's wishes in this matter, and more privately between himself and his fans liked an OT4 post.

d) GD has made T.O.P references in his other concerts during the previous break up era. I shall not be going into all these references (they're pretty abundant, like the ones from his recent concert, and he feels okay liking posts of people pointing the recent references out because he can pretend like it’s a gesture to his bestie) but GD did all this as a grand gesture to T.O.P imho. GD is known (according to multiple people, but I in particular remember Daesung saying this) for being someone who does grand romantic gestures and I can see him doing all these things for T.O.P as a gesture to him. Maybe the likes are a gesture too. Both of them care about details (it’s a big part of their art) and little things that reference each other (like those blue bracelets, and then possibly the green ring, silver ring and the tattoos GD has, ignoring lyrics and stuff)), which is why I conclude this.

e) He wouldn't have released 'IBelongIIU' and 'Take Me' (for which we have pretty good evidence it is linked to T.O.P; he posted an Insta story with 'Take Me (I'm Yours)' written the very moment he was in South Korea again after being away from T.O.P, which is a genuine receipt imho cuz you KNOW he went into his Instagram archives for nostalgia (since he posted a lot of GTOP content over the course of these years ToT)) if GTOP were really over.

f) I know I already referenced the 2013 break up, but I am really getting a sense of deja vu, except the stakes are higher and GD isn't trying to move on as much (imo). GD DID speak to T.O.P, even spent time with him and was alone with him for multiple days, but they still didn't get back together till the ending of his OOAK tour. Despite having spoken to T.O.P, he liked those GTOP edits and exhibited jealous behaviour towards John Lee. Many people think he actually wanted T.O.P to see the things he liked and posted back then because they had spoken and GD felt that T.O.P should know how he felt in some way. And maybe that's his goal again? He sang that one love song he said he wanted to sing for his wedding during Good Day and liked almost every single reel about it (except ones referencing the fact he sang it 2011 as well, but maybe those didn’t reach him? I doubt it, but idk), even a reel that literally said that he was already in love and in a relationship, because he wanted it to reach T.O.P's ears. Honestly, people forget how T.O.P clearly stated he's a 'ghost-like' person and also forget how GD literally said that T.O.P has a hard time staying in touch when he isn't around and just doesn't respond to messages sometimes. Especially if TOP was the one that left, he’ll be practically impossible to reach, and this could be some sort of hope GD has, or his way of expressing his hope for GTOP to TOP.

g) GD wore multiple accessories tied to his relationship with T.O.P, he wouldn't be doing this to "get on T.O.P's nerves", because GD is a sappy and sentimental person and he wouldn't be able to do this to himself. Kwon Jiyong is an emotional person, beyond his GD persona, and I’m sorry I just CANNOT see him be a bitter and fake person, especially when it comes T.O.P.

This rambling brings me to my most important point:

They are NOT as public as they used to be anymore. They are nowhere close to as public as they used to be and we have VERY limited information. And from what I’ve seen, GD is more depressed at T.O.P leaving him than bitter, and just wants him back, as he said in ‘Who You’. I haven’t found a convincing argument against what I believe is true (feel free to send it to me if you do). I am going to use what @deliciouskamepi sent me for this part cuz she said it better (I edited it a biiiiit :))):

"We are not sure, as usual it's just our interpretation of GD (...). He seems to have kept this good health, happiness and content feeling until now so we can interpret it as his relationship with TOP being good for now? Coupling that with all his likes on insta which he made fairly clear during his concert that HE WATCH ALL THE VIDEOS and like them HIMSELF. We really hope that - at the age of wisdom *36* - he doesn't like all these TOP reels like a teenager but with a goal and knowing Top won't be bothered by that." Another thing she wanted me to add: he confirmed that HSH is a Big Bang song, that like shows to us that he doesn’t want to mock TOP, he just wants him back..
