Ai and algorithms are choking the life out of artists. Nevertheless we must go on.

Note
Do you have any advice for indecision? I’ve been wanting to start on my own project for a while now, but I just can’t decide on what to do. I feel to reluctant to commit to any of my ideas.
Wow that’s so weird! I’m literally struggling with the same thing right now!

Do I keep going with the Serpent’s Tail thing I was doing? I sort of lost passion for it... Shall I try to freshen it up with a new direction or go do something else? Do something based on a book? Something more grim and cyberpunk? I haven’t got a clue!
One thing I do know is that I don’t want to do a project that is just based on what is trending or popular. It has to be something I really feel passionate about. Something I want to keep working on!
For now I’ve started doing exercises from a book called “Coffee Break Screenwriter”, not that I actually want to write a screenplay but it was the only book I found that had really helpfull exercises for coming up with ideas. And when I write those ideas out I can then tell they suck or are just total ripoffs :P
But at least it clarifies things a bit, just having all these half-formed ideas floating around my brainz it’s so hard to settle on anything.
If I get any more insights in this process I will reblog this with an update, hang in there!

Dying Light: Monsters, We. Character Spotlight!
Zofia (Fi) Sirota
Kyle Crane's "Paper Tiger" since they met back in Harran. Bitten and overly bothered by about everything, Zofia didn't expect the Tourist who fell out of the sky to grow on her quite as much.
They've been through a lot since then; more than any single person ever should. Good, then, that they're two.
Another character sheet by @lord-nichron :D In it, Zofia got one of the Dying Light 2 outfits. I always thought it'd fit her well. THANK YOU
You can read Monsters, We. on Archive of Our Own. It's in its second season already.

I've never posted any of my life drawings here, I sometimes post them as Instagram stories - those ehtereal pseudo-posts more suited to breakfast pics, so let's do a bit of a scketch dump here.
These are a load of cafe sketches in ballpoint and brush pen. I sometimes do these in non-creeper mode and give away the sketches to the people on them and they enjoy that. It's fun!

I've also recently been trying to do nature sketches in marker and brush pen, most are too shit to post but these came out alright:

And lastly some screenshot studies done in graphite. (not really life drawings but I think these came out nice so I'm adding them :P )

Dying Light: Monsters, We. Character Spotlight!
Kyle Crane & Aiden Caldwell
Two of our protagonist. One is a man who's been giving everyone he's met in Villedor since his arrival a headache, and the other is currently being relentlessly bullied by the narrative.
AAAH I finally have a custom outfit for Kyle; it's only been like since 2016. All thanks to @lord-nichron <3

Lately I've been reading the collected Judge Dredd stories. I've always enjoyed the dystopian vibe and harsh humor of the series.
Then I came across this particular bit of outlandish dystopian fiction, a horrible future where machines replace artists. Constantly regurgitaing what has come before...
What a nasty vision of the future John Wagner and Cam Kennedy had in 1986…
But for some reason, the sleazy bussinessman's rationalization seemed weirdly familiar...
As did the feeling of the fictional artist who had all his hard work and talent stolen from him.

I did a little test to see if I could do clean lines and color over one of my rough animations. Pretty pleased with the look but lots of problems in the timing and stuff.
Lesson learned: work out my rough animation way more before jumping to finish.
Which is a bit of a theme with all my personal work...

Dying Light: Monsters, We. Character Spotlight!
Ollie (Oliver)
Oliver hadn't even turned five years old when he joined the other children in Waltz's lab, making him the youngest of Waltz's initial experiments.
He's maybe a little more childish than you'd expect (considering how quickly the children of the Fall had to grow up), but he takes his role as one of the Lady's Hands serious enough.
Like all the other surviving children from Waltz's experiments who joined the Lady's Hands, he dons a set of deer antlers, which are intended to mirror the Lady's single horn. In a warped kinda way, at least; hers is dark and twisted, where the children's antlers are heavily bleached and polished. The antlers fit into a metal socket that's bolted to the children's skulls. They screw off or on as needed.
You can read all about him in my Dying Light fic, Monsters, We., in which Zofia refers to him as a woodsy beastie straight out of a faerie tale.
And, once again, @lord-nichron is the one to thank for this amazing character sheet. I can't wait to share the other ones :D

Dying Light: Monsters, We. Character Spotlight!
The Lady Séraphine
Séraphine is the leader of the Church, a faction that ultimately replaces the Renegades in Dying Light 2.
She embodies an in-between of humanity's fading purity, anchored to the darkness threatening All; a darkness she is obsessed with and will do anything to conquer.
Séraphine is on first name terms with Vincent Waltz and if one squints, one might see them as the (more or less reluctant) parents to the youths who survived Waltz's original experiments and the Fall that followed. You can find her in my Dying Light fic, Monsters, We.
Beautiful character sheet by the ever-amazing @lord-nichron. Thank you!

I just have a question how long have you been doing art?
I've been doing art every day for over 10 years. But I was very unfocused for the first 6 or 7. I kept trying to skip ahead and do all sorts of complicated stuff.
It was only when i started to really work on the fundamentals that I saw some progress. And then I remembered why I actually started - my love for comics and animation, not "trending on Artstation" type stuff.
But I still have so much to learn....

Commissions are closed till January 1st.
Hope ya'll have a great end of year festivities or whatever else you do to get through the Darkest Month ╮(╯∀╰)╭
I've cleaned up my Ko-Fi commssions page to make it less cluttered and I've added a "Book Cover Illustration" option!
If you're looking for something not on the menu you can you use this form or use the 'Business Inquiries' link on my bio thingy.
Animations are not available as commissions just yet - they will be in the future though! But I can do storyboards and animatics like these for a fair price:

Meet Lord Nichron! He's a guy with a lot of stories. A heck of a lot!
In his time he's been many things. From tending bar, selling things that fell of trucks, dabbling in a bit of space piracy to such lofty heights as interstellar diplomat.
He's been many places, seen many and now end his days as a renowned scholar collecting myths and history from across time and space.
Going forward he will be my narrator in the tales I write though I will still just post as myself.
The first tale he will tell will be set in a deep dark past...
