I think people jumped on Jax's "Not pleasant to be around" comment while ignoring that he specifically said "before they abstract"

The implication of the episode was that Jax and Ribbit's relationship before then was like he and Pomni's relationship before Jax's crash out. Partners in crime/comedic double act having a great time

But we know people's mental health starts deteriorating a while before they actually abstract, so no doubt Ribbit was harder to be around in those last days (like Jax at the end of the episode), and Jax would not have handled that well and that's why he blames himself

Labelling Ribbit, a "toxic abuser," seems to be Jax fans trying to excuse the fact that the guy, however sympathetic, is emotionally immature and has bad coping mechanisms

I don’t know why but something about the whole Ribbit being abusive theory irks me. Obviously, theorise what you want because they don’t we don’t know what Ribbit was like/how they acted with Jax, but something about it disappoints me dearly.

For me Ribbit is this sort of whimsical prankster, and yes they could’ve been a bad influence on Jax but something about Ribbit being an abuser feels like an excuse for Jax just being an asshole. I dunnooooooo…

If he turns out to be an awful person I WILL be disappointed, but we ball
