It might be just me but I'm like 99.9% sure Persephone's new outfit is based on Marilyn Monroe's nude colored dress.

Hera, a Goddess Who Deserved Better:
First of all, hello to everyone still here! GOD it’s been a long time, but you now how it goes life and all that. Anyways on with the discussion and of course…
🚨SPOILERS FOR EP. 273🚨
We see Hera floating in an unconscious state having flashbacks to her time with Zeus and all the while her mother is repeatedly calling her name.
The parallels here are heartbreaking but also cathartic in a way. Hera has had a tough go of it despite being Queen of the gods. Raised to fight a war, torn apart to win said war, and being Queen of The Gods in exchange for being married to perhaps the most prolific philanderer the world has ever known.
In chapter 119 we see her being dissatisfied and frustrated with what her life has come to, feeling that she had so much potential and purpose in her younger years, only to be stifled (literally and figuratively) following the war and her marriage to Zeus.
It’s been speculated amongst the community that Hera had been the next fertility goddess before Persephone and to see that vindicated in this way in her declaration to Kronos was more than gratifying to see. I especially loved the parallels between the opening scenes of Episode 119 and this one:

It was stunning and meaningful
Also there’s more of a sense of finality to Hera’s separation to Zeus following the revelation. He paints it as protecting Hera but as always his true motivations are put into doubt.

Given his insistence on wanting to know if she loved him, it’s likely he knew from his experiences with her mother, that some kind of love based connection was necessary. And like the men in his line decided to use that connection for his own means. War or no war him withholding the truth from her and siphoning her power is enough to brand him in my opinion. And unknowingly Hera was in turn made to feel as if she needed to limit herself and power as to placate him and make him feel ‘safe’ (again Episode 119):

I could definitely be wrong, but with all this information I can’t really see a formal reconciliation between the two. And after that cute kiss with Echo as well as that somber goodbye to a comatose Zeus… I can’t see her being around him anymore in any capacity.
What’s even more heartbreaking is the words of the old harpy to Demeter back in Episode 264. When she declares Persephone the Fertility Goddess of her generation, she also states that the one in Demeter’s generation was sapped of her power before she even had a chance to fully come into them.

Zeus literally stole her youth and power from her for his own gain… god I need a minute. And his b.s about ‘keeping everyone safe’ despite his promise to Métis who wanted Hera to finally be free… is it bad I want Hera to beat him down? That may be too much to ask for.
She literally had no time or chance to discover herself and potential before she was basically stuck with Zeus and her role as Queen and goddess of marriage. While she is adept at her role and enjoys some aspect of being royalty, I can’t help but wonder what her life would be if she had her own choice? If the war had ended and she was more detached from Zeus, what would her world and future look like through her own eyes and merit?
No wonder she was so protective of Persephone, they are one and the same. I’ve always expressed that they are two sides of the same coin with Hera trying to prevent Persephone from falling into her same path that was marred with unhappiness and limited choices.
So the remaining questions seems to be what will be next for her? Past the confrontation with Kronos I’m wondering what she’ll do now know her full potential and being practically reborn? Will she return to her Queen of the gods role or will she just do her own thing for a while? But before we get there of course, her battle with Kronos is going to take center stage for the time being. While Persephone’s power/fight involved mostly nature given her ‘nature’ I wonder if Hera’s will be the same? Or with the star/space imagery will it be more space based somehow?? I’m not sure but I guess we’ll see in the next episode!
Until next time y’all! ✨

My All Time Favorite Outfits in LO (Part One):
(In no particular order)
———————————///——————————
1. Episode 88: Persephone Dream Space Outfit:
Since this outfit has lived rent-free in my head it’s going first. Like since I saw it in Episode 88 my life has known no peace.
Like I can’t begin to explain the chokehold this outfit has on me.
——————————————————————
2. Episode 100: Persephone Frilly White Outfit:

I promise this list won’t be all Persephone filled, it’s just my bias for her sense of style 🥺✨. But I love the look here, it’s simple but cute, especially the heels and frilly socks.
——————————————————————
3. Episode 1: Minthe’s Lace Trimmed Bodysuit and Sheer Shawl:

Now I know we’ve all got our feelings about Minthe…
But I can definitely say that I think about this get up every once in a while.
Like the lacy bodysuit, thigh highs, and sheer shawl???? I’ll take 20 💰
——————————————————————
4. Episode 64: Aphrodite Fluffy White Robe and Frilled Heels:

Now you KNOW the goddess of love and beauty is going to be constantly put together and this outfit is a reminder of that. Even being home with her adorable kids isn’t going to stop the drip.
I’ll admit I’ve always wanted a robe like this
This is the official ‘Killed my husband and now I’m a wealthy widow’ get up and I can’t do anything but love it and envy ✨✨✨.
——————————————————————
5. Episode 119: Hera’s White Double Breasted Blazer (?) Thigh High Black Boot Combo:

Now we already know Hera is always out her with the best royal fits imaginable. So of course she’s gonna be on this list. And while she has outfit after outfit I could list, this one is one I love and would probably wear.
——————————————————————
6. Episode 127: Thetis’ Blue Dress/Thigh High Boots combo:

So yeah I’m not the biggest fan of Thetis but still the woman can dress! So this simple dress/boot combo is a favorite of mine.
——————————————————————
7. Episode 66: Hera’s Scorned Wife Dynasty Adjacent Look

Even when she’s scorned and unhappy she’s slaying this rich angry wife look. The hat, the shoulder pads, the runny mascara 👏
——————————————————————
8. Episode 224: Brown Overcoat/ Tan Two Piece Set from Aphrodite:

Im not sure why I’m so drawn to this one, maybe it’s the simplicity? the browns? Who knows! But to me it’s a good casual look.
——————————————————————
9. Episode 1: Artemis’ Black(purple?) Party Dress:

Artemis seems to fluctuate between casual, sporty, and Greek god formal, so there’s not many outfits I personally vibe with. But this dress is an absolute exception. It’s cute, it’s sparkly, what’s not to love?
10. Episode 72: Hecate’s Full Length Black Nightgown:

A lot of Hecates attire is a high class business suits that I can always appreciate but THIS. Look I’m not sure why this works so well but it absolutely does it. The sleeves, the length. It’s just so dramatic, dark, and elegant and suits a character like Hecate.
——————————————————————
Well that’s the list for now! Stay tuned for pt. 2!

Some Hades/Persephone Content I Think is Neat:
(In no particular order):
1. Punderworld: A beautiful illustrated WEBTOON that also tells the story of Hades, Persephone, and Demeter but in its own interesting funky way. I’m sure that most of the LO fandom has already heard about and read Punderworld but if you haven’t I sincerely ask that you give it ago, it’s just as well written and illustrated as LO so I recommend it!

2. Persephone: Hades’ Torment by Allison Shaw:
(18+ on this one) This take on the Persephone/Hades myth is a bit more mature (content wise) than the first entry. Obviously it retreads the myth in its own way once again, but the art work is gorgeous. The more mature content happens towards the end and that’s all I’ll say about that. This book is about $8.99 on Kindle and $28.01 in paperback so whatever you choose support the artist!

3. Animated Tales of The World: The Myth of Persephone:
Now this one is probably cheating but it’s so interesting to me that I had to put it on the list. This entry is a stop motion retelling of the myth, while it doesn’t exactly tread new ground it is a work of art in its own right.
Though please note that this series was an anthology series geared towards children, so it’s not 100% myth aligned (then again none of these are). If you’re not a fan of stop motion or it makes you uncomfortable I completely understand. But for anyone else that’s interest I’ll have the link here for it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1CRdXiLx8b0
youtube
4. The Goddess of Spring (1934):
So this one is also a cheat, this 9 minute animation is mostly Persephone focused (well as close to Persephone as this gets) .This is during that stretchy rubber hose phase of animation in Disney so there’s that. But the music is charming and the visuals have that painted classic feel to it (at least to me).
Although this entry barely makes it for me due to the portrayal of Hades (which slots him in as a devilish figure rather than anything close to the myths). I read somewhere that this animation was a prototype for Snow White and an animation study for how animated humans should move/be animated. Look it up if you’re interested it seems like an interesting story.
So if you find early animation like this charming and enjoy painting-like visuals and don’t mind how Hades is portrayed then here’s the link. (since it’s old this is the best quality I could find in English ): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x35aspw
dailymotion
5. Hooked on Chthonics:
Okay so this is a reaaaal stretch for this list, but still one I enjoyed. This series is one that takes place primarily in the Underworld and follows the deathless chthonic gods. (So far) it’s an episodic light hearted read and definitely worth your attention.
6. Miscellaneous Myths: Hades and Persephone by Overly Sarcastic Productions
So this entry isn’t a story about P/H per say, but is instead an analysis of the myth and Persephone/Demeters origins as goddesses and how their characteristics, names, powers, etc. changed over time. I have been a fan of Overly Sarcastic Productions for years now and I find their retelling as/myth related content to be thoroughly well researched (and hilariously animated). So if you’ve never heard of them or haven’t watched their videos, I recommend you give them a chance!

7. Hell Sweet Hell by Artcraawl

Another WEBTOON! This one only has three episodes so far at the time of writing, but the art is absolutely beautiful and the slice of life antics are cute. The author has an insta of the same name (artcraawl) with phenomenal art so I recommend reading the comic and following the artist!
——————————————————————
That’s all for now, as time goes on and I watch/read more P/H content I’ll expand this list! ✨✨✨

I love Lore Olympus’s interpretation of greek mythology. The inspiration for this piece was “Love Spell”, which made me think of the argument between Apollo and Pers in the most recent updates.

Loneliness: Parallels
Now I’m sure someone’s already pointed out these parallels but…
So Hades not wanting to be alone after the war (and being imprisoned inside his father for so long prior to that), tells Zeus he doesn’t want to be alone 🥺

But also Tartarus seems to not want that either…

Stupid, sad thought, but could Hades’ time limit away from the Underworld and Persephone’s future half a year in the Underworld reflect the fact that Tartarus doesn’t want to be lonely either? Maybe I’m reading too far into things?
I dunno y’all we’re sad here today😭
