Fastpass spoilers
I think one of the largest issues I have with Lore Olympus is Rachel Smythes tendency to ignore her favourite characters wrong doings or to try 'justify' them with poorly executed retcons. In the latest chapter we get yet another "Zeus bad" retcon that somehow feels worse than the prior "Zeus bad" moments. Im not going to deny Zeus is a very VERY flawed person in LO, I am all for Hera divorcing him. But here she is trying to justify the Metis/Zeus plot point by saying "oh she was protecting her daughter all along by sleeping with someone who she met when he was underage!!!!" That feels really creepy? I dont think she really considers the implications of the things she writes and thats not a good thing. She cant even try argue "oh kronos time shenanigans make it ok" or whatever stupid logic she might use because she has established his time powers had run out from his fight with Ouranos at that point in the story.
Like lets take the catastrophe that was the Dio birth arc, she tries to retroactively justify Persephone being a terrible midwife who steals a baby without letting the father hold him by being like "oh actually he didnt care about the baby he chose to carry in his leg for about 10 years Persephone was in the right!!!" instead of having her ask to take custody or do anything other than demanding she be given the baby like a few minutes after Zeus finished giving birth.
Its not just Zeus either, she tries to justify Persephone invading Leuces home by being like "Oh Leuce never really got any texts shes delusional!!!!" ignoring the fact that Leuce thought the texts were valid enough to show to Persephone when mrs pink tyrant was being a home invader and neglecting the baby she just stole a couple of hours ago. Dio is treated like a purse dog and we get some off hand comment where Persephone blames the neglect (which was so bad the child got into TARTARUS) on the sitter she hired rather than being like "oh I should have made actual arrangements for Dio instead of giving myself a makeover". Theres also the way she tried to claim Thanatos was as much to blame for Hades' terrible parenting as Hades was by being like "well the abandoned child had an attitude can you blame Hades for not being a good dad?" Like yes. Yes we can blame Hades, he was an ADULT and Thanatos was a CHILD.
I guess the point Im making is, if she wants her characters to be morally grey, she needs to stop twisting the narrative into a gordian knot to justify every bad thing her favourites do whilst condemning other characters as being 'the worst' like hold them all to the same standard and actually let them develop instead of making excuses.

Lore Olympus Episode 245 Spoilers
So, just to summarize.
Persephone
breaks into Leuce's home while she's sleeping,
manipulates a heck ton of animals to destroy Leuce's property,
steals Leuce's food to give it to her weird two-headed horse,
literally says she would kill Leuce if that didn't entail having to fill out some paperwork
ridicules and bullies Leuce the whole time she's there
and I'm supposed to be on Persephone's side here???
Like, let's remember, for a moment, that nymphs canonically face extreme discrimination in LO, to the point of being considered second-class citizens.
We've already seen that literally no one cares if a nymph dies or is forcibly transformed into something (which one could argue is a fate worse than death). Persephone can do literally whatever she wants to Leuce and would most likely face little more than a slap on the wrist.
Persephone knows that.
Leuce knows that.
The power dynamic here is not in the slightest bit balanced.
Persephone did all of this to Leuce, because Leuce flirted a bit with her husband. A man known to have lovers on the side, but let's not address that here.
RS keeps reiterating that Persephone is Not Like Other Gods, because she has compassion for and shows kindness to those of lower status.
Having read this chapter, I'll have to ask once again:
Bitch, where????
Aw hell nah, that weak sauce side-gag is LO's version of the myth of Sisyphus? Yikes RS, you really know how to suck the fun out of everything.
Thanatos' new mustache looks hideous, it's like he smeared porridge on his upper lip by accident.
Ares clowning on Hades will never get old.
"Do you think I have the capacity to be a father?"
....
Do I need to say it?
Do I really need to say it?
I fucking hate that RS made Thanatos say Hades would be a good dad because he bought him a sandwich. Fuck off, RS. Literally just fuck off.
Oh hey, Demeter's back.
We gonna treat her with the dignity and respect she deserves this time?
Oh, she's being made to act meek.
That means, probably not.

Hera, a Goddess Who Deserved Better:
First of all, hello to everyone still here! GOD it’s been a long time, but you now how it goes life and all that. Anyways on with the discussion and of course…
🚨SPOILERS FOR EP. 273🚨
We see Hera floating in an unconscious state having flashbacks to her time with Zeus and all the while her mother is repeatedly calling her name.
The parallels here are heartbreaking but also cathartic in a way. Hera has had a tough go of it despite being Queen of the gods. Raised to fight a war, torn apart to win said war, and being Queen of The Gods in exchange for being married to perhaps the most prolific philanderer the world has ever known.
In chapter 119 we see her being dissatisfied and frustrated with what her life has come to, feeling that she had so much potential and purpose in her younger years, only to be stifled (literally and figuratively) following the war and her marriage to Zeus.
It’s been speculated amongst the community that Hera had been the next fertility goddess before Persephone and to see that vindicated in this way in her declaration to Kronos was more than gratifying to see. I especially loved the parallels between the opening scenes of Episode 119 and this one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was stunning and meaningful
Also there’s more of a sense of finality to Hera’s separation to Zeus following the revelation. He paints it as protecting Hera but as always his true motivations are put into doubt.
Tumblr media
Given his insistence on wanting to know if she loved him, it’s likely he knew from his experiences with her mother, that some kind of love based connection was necessary. And like the men in his line decided to use that connection for his own means. War or no war him withholding the truth from her and siphoning her power is enough to brand him in my opinion. And unknowingly Hera was in turn made to feel as if she needed to limit herself and power as to placate him and make him feel ‘safe’ (again Episode 119):
Tumblr media
I could definitely be wrong, but with all this information I can’t really see a formal reconciliation between the two. And after that cute kiss with Echo as well as that somber goodbye to a comatose Zeus… I can’t see her being around him anymore in any capacity.
What’s even more heartbreaking is the words of the old harpy to Demeter back in Episode 264. When she declares Persephone the Fertility Goddess of her generation, she also states that the one in Demeter’s generation was sapped of her power before she even had a chance to fully come into them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zeus literally stole her youth and power from her for his own gain… god I need a minute. And his b.s about ‘keeping everyone safe’ despite his promise to Métis who wanted Hera to finally be free… is it bad I want Hera to beat him down? That may be too much to ask for.
She literally had no time or chance to discover herself and potential before she was basically stuck with Zeus and her role as Queen and goddess of marriage. While she is adept at her role and enjoys some aspect of being royalty, I can’t help but wonder what her life would be if she had her own choice? If the war had ended and she was more detached from Zeus, what would her world and future look like through her own eyes and merit?
No wonder she was so protective of Persephone, they are one and the same. I’ve always expressed that they are two sides of the same coin with Hera trying to prevent Persephone from falling into her same path that was marred with unhappiness and limited choices.
So the remaining questions seems to be what will be next for her? Past the confrontation with Kronos I’m wondering what she’ll do now know her full potential and being practically reborn? Will she return to her Queen of the gods role or will she just do her own thing for a while? But before we get there of course, her battle with Kronos is going to take center stage for the time being. While Persephone’s power/fight involved mostly nature given her ‘nature’ I wonder if Hera’s will be the same? Or with the star/space imagery will it be more space based somehow?? I’m not sure but I guess we’ll see in the next episode!
Until next time y’all! ✨

As much as I liked Ares x Aphrodite, I’m glad she finally dumbed his a$$ and got married (possibly to Hephaestus like in the myth).
I hope her new husband is treating her with the love and respect she deserves.

I laughed so hard at this panel!
Tumblr media
Like a mix of “hasn’t been flirted with/hasn’t had sex in over two-thousand years” and “holy shit is she actually falling for this?” with a dash of “Fuck! What do I do next?”
Love it
