Didn't get any pictures while the mane was loose, but here it is all braided up. Floofed it reaches my tailbone, recently washed reaches to mid thigh
I rebraid my hair once every 3 to 4 days with a moisturizing oil that is lightly scented ( Dr. Teal's Body Oil, Lavender and Eucalyptis are my jam ) as a Dry Method of cleaning.
Apply a few drops of oil to my fingertips while unbinding the braids to prevent breaks, apply a few more drops every time my fingers snag instead of slipping through and remove shed ( I do this outside on my patio, let the birds have it for nesting material / biodegrade back into the local ecosystem ) until its loose, apply a few more drops to my palms and finger brush from the roots before pressing my hair to my scalp to scrub As If I Were Shampooing. This is to get oils on my scalp onto the strands where said oil can do its job of protecting the strands from the elements.
Once I'm done with the oil, I brush out to finish the shedding process. If I'm leaving it loose I'll still band my forelocks back to keep hair outta my eyes and do the oil process again when I next braid it.
When braiding, I start with small braids at the edge of my hairline and use a brush or comb to help gather at the roots before finger brushing down to the tips-- futher spreading my natural oils to the tips as I work the braid as I Prevent Tip Tangles by re-separating the strands with every turn by sweeping my fingers all the way down. I get one temple, then the other, then decide if I want the inner pair to start at the back of my head, incorporate the temples, then turn back through the center while gathering the rest of the remaining strands while decending the back of the skull - OR - do the second pair to the outsides and finish out the tail once I've gathered all hair above my ear.
Last braid also has a nape of neck option, but I went from the top of the head in this adventure. Then I gathered the braids into a low pony, did the 5 strand braid Of Braids until a strand doesn't reach, apply hair binder at its last Secure turn of the shortest strand, brush out all hair below the binder from All strands and re-braid, securing the ends and preventing a longer strand from pulling on smaller ones and thus minimizing scalp stress.
Remove the first hair band, used a crochet accessory to wrap after twisting excess length into a bun. This design can hold for at least 4 days, I've never kept it long enough to see when it unravels.
Entire process takes just over an hour, and you will build the muscles in your arms like a motherfucker cause It Is An Endurance Trial.
I like braids with minimal loose hanging edges so I don't get it wet when I wash my body, showering every other day. I run a proper bath to soak my skull down to the skin when washing my hair, and do so maaaaybe once every two weeks? Basically if it starts to smell sour it's time to wash it. In this picture, my hair last saw shampoo and running water 5 weeks ago. I don't itch, I don't feel gross, and sitting down for an hour once every 3 to 4 days works for me.
Ways to keep Long Hair out of your face that isn't braids or binding;
Goggles! There's loads you can find at both bike and motercycle shops, and if you live in a Heavy Snow area you'll sometimes see sets hanging with the sunglasses. The elastic band and the wider hard plastic framing the lenses is excellent at keeping hair out of my eyes
Brow sweat band! You might look a lil bit like a gym rat but I don't see any shame in that.
Scarfs! Take a scarf, wrap around your head, tie off. Pull scarf down around your neck, tighten the knot, check fit to make sure it'll slide on and off your head. You can tighten the head loop smaller by pulling the loose ends, you can tighten the loop bigger by pulling on the loop side. Once the knot no longer has any give, get your hair up and out of the loop and then push tue loop back up to around your head- handily pushing your hair back ( combine with goggles for extra security! )
HATS! Any sack shaped hat can contain hair. Loosely twist the length until it becomes a bun, put the hat over the bun first then pull it the rest of the way onto your head. Hair will be loose inside the hat, and once again stays away from eyeballs.

Also "Don't upset people on purpose."
I don't care how funny you think it is, if I find out the thing upsetting me Had No Motivation? The person "thought it would be funny" or worse "Dunno" why they upset for frightened me? I. See. Red. That's the shit that reminds me my rage issues aren't fixed, just Very Carefully Managed.
Like say someone cuts me off, I self soothe by imagining they're in a hurry, someone's waiting up for them, they've had a long one and wanna get home-- all the same graces I hope others extend me when I am Distressed but also Must Drive. It happens. We all gotta Survive, and my main goal when outside is to Not Make Life Harder For Someone Else Through Misunderstanding Or Neglegance. I am not neurotypical, I Am A Master At Misunderstanding And Overthinking Simple Directions and otherwise Not Perceiving My Surroundings if something requiring full focus pulls my attention.
If someone cuts me off, no signal, agressive driving just to reach a red light first? I plant my elbows in the horn and flip the double bird while sitting on their ass. You did something dangerous For Zero Gain and could have killed someone. Many someones.
The way to fix a disturbing number of problems is "Cultivate good habits, and then do them consistently." I do not like this. 😠

The best friends I've ever had are the ones who Actively Listen and Show Their Teeth when they hear I've been harmed. Who take my exhausted venting and turns it back into the anger it Should Be. Someone Bit Me. I Should Bite Back.
Friendship is a power source, and the generation cycle requires the upfront investment of Active Listening and Care. Those things cost energy, much like a coal fired power plant must burn coal before the turbines produce electricity-- and likewise, once that turbine is spinning? It can make the miraculous happen, turn impossibilities into trivialities, and fuel greater growth for all involved.
It's also a Natural fact, something that has Always Been True no matter how many times people have tried to tell the world that Work comes before Living. Every time someone tries to enforce Work First, People Fucking Die In Angish, often alone.
One Must Live, Be Alive, Before Labor Can Be Negotiated. Attempting to skip this step is coercion, full stop.
When someone pushes your head down, tackle them with your shoulder in their gut or groin. Your action will inspire those who have fallen into inactive dispare.
