I have absolutely no clue who PNB Rock is nor have I heard one song from him however the actual situation shows the sickness of Self Hatred, Greed, Envy and Lust for material gains that is pervasive in our community. The disregard for life for something as senseless as jewelry is disheartening. We don’t mind killing one of our own for the most petty of crimes, never mind those that will be heart broken over the life, never mind the family and children that may be impacted, never mind your own life as the shooter that will now either live in hiding from the law, those that may want to retaliate or actually live the rest of your life behind bars for getting caught. The entire situation is SENSELESS and shows absolutely no regard for life whether it’s someone else’s or our own. When you become a shooter you not only BODY the victim but you BODY yourself because now you either have to live or die with the consequences of your own actions. Peace… Literally the greatest words someone can offer someone else. It’s a greeting as ancient as time itself. Different groups uttered it when approaching and leaving. It is the meaning of “HOTEP” , it is the greetings of “Shalom” expressed by Hebrews/Jews and “Salaam” offered by Muslims. Jesus himself was said to have approached and left everyone saying “Peace be with you” yet the planet we live on lacks PEACE. 2022 has been a year that has taught me to value that word more than ever and not to take my own desire to have it lightly. When I find myself in personal and internal conflict I realize more and more how much I desire peace and desire to be around people that are “peaceful”. I have attended 3 funerals of family members within the last 6 months and each one has made me reflect more on how short our time here really is. Internal conflict is the most menacing, nerve wrecking and bothersome turmoil one can experience. When that internal conflict is married with external forces that are conflict driven, ridden and motivated the desire for peace become greater. To all my friends, family members and contacts, I just want to offer you salutations of “peace” as you start your day. Remember to hold that as sacred to you as life itself. When you find yourself around forces trying to rob you of that one quality that brings joy to all human beings, do what is necessary to confront it in a peaceful manner and remove yourself from it. Kangol Kid from the legendary UTFO passed away at 3:02 am this morning. I had the opportunity to work with Kangol Kid on two events while working at the Community College of Baltimore County and we’d occasionally chat over the years via my Facebook page; so watching him fight his battle with cancer and seeing so many legends visit him in the hospital I honestly felt he would pull through. This is a major loss for Hip Hop. Condolences to his family and children. CONFLICT RESOLUTION IS NOT CORNY. Basking in conflict and normalizing it as if it is something cool is. I’m seriously sick and tired of hearing about Black People killing each other.
