The world was blurry. A mess of white and red and- Black. Why couldn’t he see? What was wrong with his eyes? And the noise, like nails on chalkboard, dragged across a beaten stony path, his ears were bleeding, help-

And then, everything was fine. Nothing was wrong, or would be wrong. Normal.

Screaming, bleeding, chalkboard-

“Kazuha?”

Kazuha's mind cleared, enough to tune in to a softly spoken name from a familiar, concerned voice. He was fine. Perfectly fine.

“Are you sure..? You’re covering your ears.”

He buried the cries for help, and the pleads for… someone to come back. He was just tired, and if he just closes his eyes for a brief moment, he’ll be just fine.

“Kazuha-?”

And for a brief second, he was in a light-bathed room. It looked… old. There was a shelf somewhere further ahead of him that held plenty of spiderwebs, with only half as many books. Somewhere next to him was a soft snore, and upon turning slightly (a movement that he found was oddly difficult), found two figures sound asleep on two chairs, though they leaned comfortably on each other.

They seemed… familiar, somehow. What with the earthy browns and subtle golds and silvers one had on his clothing and the grays and- stains? Of dirt and blood?- the other had on his. Kazuha could’ve sworn he knew them, knew their name and personality and…

And suddenly, he was right back next to Tomo, who he could see better now, and who also looked far more concerned than originally thought.

“Are you okay?” Tomo’s hand gently touched Kazuha’s shoulder.

“Of course. Why wouldn’t I be?”

He didn’t even know those people in that mysterious room, after all.

The distant moon shone her radiant rays upon the shifting seas, promising, as she had for the past millennia, to hold the Oceans hands in her own, and sing an ever loving lullaby meant for the Seas ears only. To hold and be held ever softly, spend their days in the other's company- To be united at long last.

A dream long past its due date.

Even on this seemingly never ending night, as Sea Fairy willed herself higher and higher, reaching and begging to reach Moonlight, that old promise seemed to become weaker and weaker. She tried so hard, she was so close to reaching her love, and yet… Moonlight seemed farther in return. Ever up in that distant dream of hers, with the stars and clouds treating her as nicely as Sea Fairy could have.

In but a moment, the seas billowed and raged somewhere beneath her, trying its hardest to bring Sea Fairy far beyond the stars. She knew it was but a pipe dream. Reaching the moon? With only the ocean as her ladder? Such a thing should be seen as a joke, and yet… Sea Fairy couldn’t bring herself to agree. She had held Moonlight's hand so gently before (something that had to have been maybe a century ago?) and it hadn’t been so hard then. What was so different about this now? Was this simply fate, to never be able to meet her beloved again?

As she became more and and more desperate, the waves carrying her became more and more violent- Thrashing and flailing, careening as Sea Fairy pointed her dagger into the sky- Right at Moonlight.

If Sea Fairy’s body was more flesh than water and magic, she was more than certain that when she rushed and broke through the Earthbreads atmosphere that it would have put far too much strain on it and she would have surely met a dull fate. Quite grimly, she wondered if Moonlight would have paid any attention to her then. She must’ve been quite lucky to be an elemental instead of a proper cookie, like those she’d seen enjoying their rather quiet lives in those villages. But then she would’ve never been able to meet Moonlight…

She would have stayed in her musings for far longer if it wasn’t for the fact that she realized she was slowing down. During the brief moment when the ocean soared past the doughy earth and broke past its sweetened atmosphere, the moon also seemed to be rushing towards the water elemental, seemingly as excited to see her once again as well. Of course, now that was no longer the case- In fact, Sea Fairy couldn’t even tell if she was making progress anymore.

And, as if she could be any more disheartened, the ocean that carried her past her previous limit began to slowly recede back into its divot far away on the Eartbreads crust. Though Sea Fairy did her absolute best to take back control of the sinking waters, she had no choice but to be dragged back to her salty prison.

Why? What was it about Sea Fairy that prevented her from being able to see Moonlight again? What was it about this entire situation that always caused her to never be strong enough, to either never make it past the atmosphere or to just barely be able to swim amongst the dusty stars? Did she not love Moonlight enough?

Did Moonlight not love her enough..?

The mere thought sent another dreadful thought through her mind; Did Moonlight never love her? Was all of this simply wishful thinking, was she simply a fool to have thought Moonlight could ever love her?!

As she continued to spiral, she didn’t notice she was already back on the soft earth and was actually sinking down into the murky depths. Past a coral reef with assorted sweet candy fish, and carefully avoided a forest of tangly kelp that hid jelly crabs and various other creatures that looked at her with curiosity. She never went past the coral reefs, not wanting to miss any drop of light the moon gifted upon her.

But something had changed on this slowly creeping night. Deep within Sea Fairy’s heart, something called for her to continue descending down, down, down, into the just barely frosty waters, and only stopped when she couldn’t see the fading moonlight. Creatures that she could sense but couldn’t see were aware of her presence, and a few brave ones creeped and swam near her, but never close enough to touch. A brief sense of familiarity flowed through Sea Fairy.

Perhaps this was her new fate… Instead of being within Moonlight’s loving embrace, she was always meant to reside in the dark depths. Far where Moonlight couldn’t lie to her about affection that was never meant to be given, and where the moonlight couldn’t reach into Sea Fairy’s being to try and warm a now frozen heart.

Maybe her Moon was always meant to be just out of reach.

A/N: I didn't get a notification for the ask until like three days later so sorry anon!! Also, thank you, this is adorable. I am going to be thinking about this for the rest of my life. (Also I didn’t know if this was brainrot or a request so if it’s not a bother, please clarify in the future lmao)

“You’d prefer dragons?” Red Velvet didn’t hide his slight surprise, slightly turning to face the other cookie whilst being careful not to jostle Chiffon too much.

Dino-Sour nodded fervently. “Aren’t dragons the coolest?!”

Red Velvet thought for a moment, before nodding a bit. Though he didn’t know much about dragons- having only just gotten to this odd ‘Kingdom’ from the Tower- given what others had said, Dragons were fearsome and strong. And apparently cool.

“I suppose they are intriguing… From what I’ve heard from Princess Cookie, I know that they are strong, at the very least.” Red Velvet muttered. “And since you are quite knowledgeable on this, then I’m sure your word is quite final in regards to Dragons.”

After carefully adjusting Chiffon to be mostly in his cake-arm, Red Velvet spared a glance to Dino-Sour and found that said cookie was staring at him with an expression close to unadulterated joy and surprise.

“See?! I knew it!” Dino-Sour practically shouted, scooping up the young dinosaur that had previously been resting by his side, and was now wide awake and being gleefully spun around.

Chiffon made a small noise of discontent, and Red Velvet gently pet him to lull the cakehound back to sleep.

As he did so, Red Velvet felt slightly comforted at being allowed to show his dear Chiffon affection, given that the more common response to seeing the cakehound out in the open was fear or aggression. He could barely count the amount of confused or defensive looks as he meandered around the crowded kingdom with Chiffon in hand.

And yet here, although not specifically someone who enjoyed the presence of Cakehounds, someone else seemed to relate to him, in a way. It was refreshing to not have to hold Chiffon crushingly close and hide him from others who were… overly wary about this tiny cakehound, and he also seemed to feel rather annoyed at being unable to talk extensively about this one topic (Dinosaurs, Dragons, and Cakehounds were, sadly, not usually a preferred conversation topic).

Despite the other problems that came with this new kingdom, at least it seemed like there was someone else who’d go through it too, so Red Velvet wasn’t completely alone. Which was… nice. Though he never felt alone, given that there were always enough cakehounds to negate that feeling and he was often too busy to even think about it. Still, though… It was nice.

At least that was one positive in this kingdom.

Why do I have thirty drafts and why do I remember none of them

Okay so I keep adding messages to my drafts and forget that I take forever to publish stuff so here’s all of my messages that are in drafts that I think are important:

The Godslayer AU is split into two universes- Original and Modern. The original one is basically where the world is the same but you know. Slays god. The Modern version is the Modern version of the Original, which allows other things to happen! Like the Deviltown Arc, the interrogation, etc.

The Godslayer AU won’t be approached ina traditional manner, and instead of multiple chapters that do world building and such, I’ll only write the parts that I find are important or fun! As such, I figure it’d be fun to allow people to request certain scenarios for this au, both Modern and Original. As long as I can see it happening in the world, I’ll probably write it!

For example, a possible request might be “Deviltown Arc with the trio still trying to get settled in?” And such. I’ll eventually talk about the different time periods in the two Godslayers just give me time, or ask! I answer things faster if I detect interest lmao

On the topic of requests, if you are requesting that something is written, please make it clear because I’ll otherwise mistake brainrot for requests and vise versa.

And also: I write for more than what I say in my pinned! You can probably figure out what else i write for once i publish the respective wips, but once I do, you can also request for those as well, as long as I’m fine with it.

Crossovers are allowed and encouraged! If it weren’t for me jokingly crossing over Sleeby Diluc and SALD I wouldn’t have made the much needed breakthrough in my outlining for SALD.

By the way there are now two SALD AU’s and one of them will have a very… interesting… twist that makes it different from the other.

I’ll probably focus on that one, which for now, I’ll refer to as the Timekeeper SALD AU.

From right outside of the frosty film holding Sea Fairy in place was the moon. In all of her radiance and beauty.

Given how she had been frozen- Reaching out for Moonlight- She could almost pretend that the two were holding hands and spending the night away in the others presence.

Would she be able to do that again..?

From beyond the impossibly frigid ice, though ever so slowly, the moon ebbed away from Earthbread and went back to her home in the distant sky and resume her rest.

Sea Fairy couldn’t bear to be without Moonlight, not in her greatest time of need, and yet- as if without any hesitation- the day came and took away her moon.

And despite the distant “warmth” of the sun trying to comfort the somber Cookie, it couldn’t defeat the dough chilling frost that coated her.

And so she was left in her thoughts all alone.
