Looking for Alaska is 20 years old. It reads like historical fiction now. I mean, the plot turns on a PAY PHONE. Kids don't even know what pay phones are.
Hundreds of school districts have banned the book from libraries and classrooms, so much so that it's rarely taught in English classes the way that it used to be.
And yet somehow, improbably enough, it continues to find readers. Over a thousand every week. Incredible. I am so grateful that little book has stayed alive for so long.

June was not a good reading month for me. I've been listening to a lot of music and podcasts instead. I need to get back on it.

FOR PARENTS OF YOUNG KIDS IN THE US!
Someone over on bluesky posted this and I figured I'd better repost it here. It's the pre-RFK 2025 vaccination schedule for babies and young children, ya know, just in case it mysteriously disappears. Save this and give it to your child's pediatrician; tell them this is the schedule you want your child on.

Listen to "Asian-American Pop" on TIDAL
Check out this playlist on TIDAL: "Asian-American Pop" https://tidal.com/playlist/d0972376-f5f1-4182-8916-9fca74874e13
Enjoying the Tidal AAPIHM playlists.
I've actually been listening to just a lot more Asian artists and trying to discover more pop music from Asia. Yes, Korea but also the Philippines and someone posted a fun track from a Vietnamese artist recently and I went down a rabbit hole.
There are just so many talented musicians out in the world. I love that about music. You can always find someone or a new group no matter how old you are.
Also, found a new music blog to check out from the Netherlands.

This episode of Run Jin is cracking me up this morning!!! It's probably too early to be laughing this much.
The weird hanging and playing pictionary type game is so funny! I haven't laughed this hard at a tv show since Travel Man with Richard Ayoade.

Started watching the Stolen Girl. Freeform ads all over the place.
I'm already like "who just let's their kid have a play date with some random person even if their kid begs? And then lets them have a sleepover when they've never had a sleepover?
I know. That's one of the points of this show... But I was already like "lady..wtf?" 🤣
Anyway, glad I'm watching Sinners in a few hours because all the people online posting about it is too much.
I'll just watch Ryan Coogler's talk about film specs again thank you
