HE WAS STILL LOST ON WHY BUCKY HAD HELPED HIM. He didn't have to, but he still pushed to try and snap him out of it in that fight. He wasn't even sure why he was still helping to haul him to safety before setting him down with a huff, and set to checking the wounds. They weren't life threatening.

Why was he helping the other soldier? He didn't have to, he wasn't asked. He needed something to do, while his head spiraled about the conflict mulling over in his head.

When he looked up, his eyes met the soldiers eyes, and his jaw tightened, steeling himself away in a rather than show any vulnerability. "You didn't have to do that back there." He muttered as he continued to set to his wounds.

is your character an oc?

Hello anon! No, my muse is not strictly speaking an OC. Dmitri is a character that makes a feature in one of the Winter Soldier comics and is one of the other men in the Super Soldier program. He meets his demise unfortunately in a fight with Bucky when he's woken up from chryo sleep. He's one of the guys Bucky liked, and wanted to help, so I write a very canon divergent version of him where he survives. There is next to nothing on him though...Besides his first name. I've included a picture of one of the pages from the comics he's in.

It was a nice though...Bringing down HYDRA. He had thought at one time...that he had been doing something GOOD for his country. Or perhaps he had just allowed himself to be BLINDLY led into a trap he wouldn't be able to find escape from. All he had ever wanted to do was SERVE Russia. He thought he was. By the time he realized he was wrong...that he had put his trust in the wrong people...It was too late for him.

The road was paved with GOOD INTENTIONS, but he was still a Monster after all was said and done. Something he could never quite convince himself otherwise.

And here was the infamous Winter Soldier, thinking he could bring down an organization so deeply rooted into the world, he'd never see the end of them. It was laughable really. In a dark way. Dmitri scoffed and shook his head, before his gaze met Bucky's. The soldier that was serving his country was gone, along with the country, and time he had been from. A Soldier with no mission. No NATION.

"You'll be hunting them your whole life and there will always, be more." He hadn't been intimidated when he stepped closer to him, his jaw clenching being the only shift in his features. "You'd have to bring down every Government on the planet and even then, they'll still likely run and hide to their caves.

Bucky's jaw tightened and he was silent for a long moment as he met Dmitri's eyes before breaking his gaze to look down briefly. Folding his arms in front of him, his lips set in what appeared to be a permanent scowl...even more so than usual. When his hues locked with the other man's once more, there was the weight of guilt behind Bucky's guarded expression.

"You say that like I've stopped trying," he countered. "If I can keep those bastards from makin' another one 'a me, or you...I'll take those wins where I can get 'em. I haven't failed until I stop."

He unfolded his arms and took a few steps to shorten the space between them somewhat.

"An' until my heart stops beatin' in my goddamn chest, 'm not gonna quit...an' I don't care what ya think 'a me. Only thing I wanna know from you is if you've got th' guts t' join me."
