so i've spent some time these last few days finally playing through the FF7 Remake. Bought it when it first came out, found it a slog and dropped it (can JRPGs stop trying to make active/action battle systems a thing??? Dragon Quest and Persona show that turn based can still be fun and fluid!!). With Rebirth having come out, I'm giving it another shot. FF7 has never been one of my favorites and I still prefer the original, but the Remake is good as it's own thing.
I do have to say though... the sections post-Wall Market where Cloud is paired up with Tifa and Aerith? Those scenes give big "girl best friends with their awkward gay friend" energy.
(Though yes, I can admit that Remake does a pretty good job and showing Cloud's affections for both Tifa and Aerith. I've seen some argue that the remakes solidify that one or the other is Cloud's true love interest, but I'd say the remake at least still leaves it ambiguous.)
#nonsims#final fantasy 7#final fantasy vii#and let's be real#cloud strife probably has to have a little sugar in his tank to dress up in full drag to save tifa...#i will say i got my life from the makeover scene and the whole “nailed it i know. thank you.” was pretty great

Ezinne isn't interested in the rat race. She's interested in fame and accolades. She meets the welcome wagon- she's not sure about these two: Bella and Mortimer Goth. Not exactly the kind of people she usually associates with. Hopefully Ezinne meets some interesting people in studio town.

79 Crumplebottom Court Ezinne has found a home through SimCity's Revitalization program. The remains of this derelict townhouse has been refurbished to provide housing for low income residents. "Revitalization" leaves a little to be desired.... more like they knocked down some walls and slapped some paint on it. Ezinne doesn't have much stuff, but there's plenty of space and room to grow.

The beginnings of Downtown's newest up-and-coming hot spot, Club Kérastase. This place will have everything: from a piano bar staffed entirely by snooty European musicians who flunked out of the conservatory, to a romper dance floor playing only the finest Eurotrash. Mild alcohol poisoning may be required to fully enjoy. Club Kérstaste is not responsible for illegal substances that may or may not be sold in it's bathrooms.

Paloma embraces her inner 90s wine mom with a kitchen remodel. Simmers who lived through the 90s: you know what I'm talking about. Kitchens were either country kitsch (usually with a chicken/rooster motif) or Italianate (bonus points if it had some sort of grape motif and false ivy). My mom / grandma were firmly in the country kitsch category!

What the hell, go for it you crazy kids! Dano joins the household. He's in the journalism career as a paparazzi, and he brings 18,000 into the household coffers. Wowza! They can definitely get a bigger place, but Paloma is happy to stay where they are for right now.
Paloma comes home with another promotion. The hours are still wonky, and Dano will be working odd hours too (5PM to 1PM). Paloma worries about Marisol's development... in Salvadorada she had her mother and father, not to mention her grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles to help pick up the slack. Here it's just Paloma- but it's all in the pursuit of the SimNation dream: enjoying the fruits of unfettered capitalism and consumerism. Who needs community when you can afford a flatscreen TV?

Any thoughts of Michael Bachelor have faded since Paloma has met Dano. Maybe his name is a bit odd, but he's a good looking guy, and on top of that, he's absolutely done amazing with Marisol. Paloma isn't sure where things might go from here, but she's willing to see what happens...

A promotion to Trade Show Model means more money in Paloma's pocketbook- and more money to spend! She uses her bonus as well as her newest paycheck to deck out the living room and dining room with brand new furniture suiting her eclectic style. Life in SimNation couldn't be better! Paloma's hours are more erratic, however: she's working from 5PM to 1AM, which means Marisol is becoming a certified latchkey kid. As she gets home from school, her mom is preparing to go into work: leaving Marisol home alone in the evenings. She's on her own as far as dinner is concerned, and has the run of the house.... the certified SimNation kid experience!
#sims 1#it's hilarious how of the time sims 1 is#going to work and leaving your child unattended? totally fine#do it in the sims 2? HERE COMES SOCIAL SERVICES

Though Paloma is enjoying her new life in SimNation, there's definitely one downside: the food just isn't the same. Too many preservatives! She's decided to start a little garden of her own- with Marisol to be her little helper. It's good for kids to learn these kinds of life skills.

Paloma has been working her butt off, and as of now has reached the position of Makeup Artist. She's still getting paid peanuts, but she's hoping to continue moving up the rung. She's made a friend in Bella Goth, and has also met someone new: Michael Bachelor. He's kind of handsome in a certain kind of way.
Marisol also gets to finally meet a kid her age: Cassandra Goth! Paloma isn't exactly sure if the girl is a good influence: after all, she was walking by their house at 11PM without an adult in sight. Maybe things are just different in SimNation.

The Welcome Wagon comes, and Paloma meets Bella and Mortimer Goth. She isn't quite sure what to make of them- despite being a married couple, they seem to despise each other. Mortimer even scared Bella in the bathroom for no reason! Still, she does like Bella's style- they might become fast friends.
The next day, Paloma finds a job opening in the fashion career: exactly what she's looking for! She starts tomorrow. Even better, the hours will work around Marisol's school hours.
