THE WORM AT THE CORE, curated by @joshuachiet, opened last night at @culturelablic - I feel so fortunate to be included in this exhibition alongside @skeletonkeyerik, @reedadamchristopher, @rivers6727, and @elisabethsmolarz. Thanks to the @culturelablic folks for being so kind and welcoming. The exhibition will be on view until April 24th. . I created these works, which originally composed a triptych, for my two-person exhibition with @sabrinalaurensmall at the @muttermuseum a couple years ago and I’m so happy that they once again have an opportunity to air out their boney lace alltogethers in the moonlight. . . . . . #fibersculpture #fiberartistsofinstagram #crochetersofinstagram #crochetart #skeleton #juxtapoz #crochetaria #amigurumicrochet #laceart #textiledesign #hifructosemag @juxtapozmag #longislandcity #darkartwork #installationart #textileartist #muttermuseum (at Long Island City) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb5UV1XL1FG/?utm_medium=tumblr

Red Wake, 2022. Started in Philadelphia, completed at @wassaicproject. A group of vultures is sometimes referred to as a wake, depending on what the birds are doing. . Thrilled to be exhibiting this piece as a part of LOOK AGAIN at @richramsays, curated by @briannascotti. LOOK AGAIN instructs the viewer to look deeper at the works before them as more than medium and canvas but rather a cathartic release of the artist’s subconscious. . March 26 - April 5 147 Front Street, Brooklyn Opening reception 3/26 6-9pm . Includes works by @summerjhart, @ronandaylewis, @meglionelmurphy, @k.a.t.e.s.t.o.n.e, @mister_caitlin, and @pranavsoodstudios (at DUMBO, Brooklyn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CbfhlITLY2n/?utm_medium=tumblr

"Immortal: Interventions in Time," an exhibit at @automat_collective curated by member @jacqyvonne, opens this Thursday 3/10 from 6-9pm. A few newer/weirder/more experimental works of mine will be present and I’ll be briefly leaving my current perch at @wassaicproject to attend the reception so you better come say hi! There will also be a virtual Q&A with the artists on Wednesday 3/9 from 7-8pm ET, which you can register to attend via the link in my bio ⛓ . “Why do humans cherish objects beyond the original context that they were created? Heirlooms, souvenirs, and collectibles play an important role in the memories, moods, and identities of people across many generations and cultures. Through paintings, sculpture, taxidermy, and furniture restoration, the show, Immortal, explores some of the ways that we, as people, try to intervene in the natural process of decay, or loss, in order to disrupt our perception of time through objects.” . Featuring artists Divya Anantharaman (@gotham_taxidermy), Caitlin McCormack, Celeste Morton (@celeste_jb_morton), and Alexander O'Harro. . On view Saturdays 12-5pm from March 5th to April 2nd. . Don’t let a groundhog tell you what to do. However, if I happened to be a groundhog, I would tell you to slam your fingies on that link in my bio to grab one of my new limited edition prints, released through @paradigmgs. Each 8x10 print features a black-on-black perforated heart that can be punched out or left intact, alluding to bygone days of schoolyard card exchanges. This heart could be for you and you alone, but if you’d like to share it, each print comes with a bonus bat Valentine card. 10% of the proceeds will benefit @phillypaws 🐾❤️ . @sd_artifacts and I both have new prints available today starting at noon. Hope you like them! (at Paradigm Gallery + Studio) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZe5ikjrD_2/?utm_medium=tumblr

Oh, just a couple more things. After subjecting you guys to that diatribe yesterday, I remembered a few details that were thoughtlessly left out. It’s worth mentioning that in 2021 I contended with a serious health scare, which still requires some further clarification but for the most part wound up being less of a cause for concern than it had initially seemed. Definitely grateful for that, in countless and infinite ways. . Towards the beginning of the year, I finally started making progress on a book project that has been in the works for a while. A series of @kithonline-inspired sculptures for @archenemyarts just sort of materialized, in an attempt to stay sane, and Bruce McCulloch purchased his Cabbage Head likeness, which nearly made me pass out. . @mortalmachinegallery exhibited a new series of crocheted specimens. @hotbedphilly also included some similar works in their beautiful SUMMERHOUSE, and I was fortunate to have a chance to display work with @spoke_art once again for their annual TONDO show. My good friend and collaborator @kikiaranita and I facilitated a pop-up installation of our work at the @fitlerclub, where I ate some fancy tofu. Also, the @superchiefgalleryny folks kindly had some of my ceramic vessels on view in their West Village spot. This was the year where I became involved with @artfare, too. . Lastly, in 2021 I found out that @kitsch_witch and I had been accepted into @wassaicproject’s residency program. I absolutely cannot wait to live and work in such an incredible space. . I just want to thoroughly express how thankful I am, all the time, for these opportunities and the influx of generous people in my life who are willing to let my studio life bleed into their respective existences. I hope none of this sounds like bragging or pompous boasting. Just feeling very aware of how infrequently I have truly expressed these feelings, as a hopeless introvert (and honestly kind of an asshole sometimes). Thanks, guys ❤️ (at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZdGxqeLRKr/?utm_medium=tumblr

What happens when you stare into the pizza void and the pizza void stares back? . I’ve been hesitant to write a post expressing gratitude for all of the amazing experiences that somehow fell into my lap last year, but it’s a daunting task because there were so many. In 2021, I took part in 2 residencies; the @peterbulloughfoundation in VA with my amazing collaborator @kitsch_witch, and @chanorthartresidency in NY where I was lucky enough to meet @buketsavci, @plywood_sarcophagus, @kekearle, and @voylescurio. Not sure how I became fortunate enough to know these fantastic folks. . I have no idea what I did to deserve this but @jacobrhodes74 and @krisrac of @fieldprojects curated my work into a solo booth at @springbreakartshow in NYC, which was beyond a dream come true, and I took part in another booth curated by @inliquidart, alongside @roxysgreenhouse, @summerjhart, @allisonsommers, and @selvinglass. @fieldprojects also curated a show at @partnersandson, an amazing and magical space I’ve been a fan of for quite some time, including works by @hexaphage, @_erikohattori_, and myself. I kept expecting someone to jump out from behind a bush to yell, “Just kidding! You suck!” But it never happened. . Another dream came true when I collaborated with the unstoppably talented @dance_doyle on a 2-person exhibition at @secondstreetgallery. . @paradigmgs, @mortalmachinegallery, and @hashimotocontemporary did all the legwork to help me sell 3 of the largest sculptures I’ve ever made, which substantially helped to ease my financial palpitations, and I had a blast doing a limited release of tiny pizza slices for @paradicepalase. @mortalmachinegallery also took a huge circular rhizosphere to @scopeartshow in Miami, which was nuts. . The folks from @theshoutflower kindly used my image for the cover of their publication. I also had the tremendous experience of being interviewed by @linamasfina for @artfare, during an especially isolated time when having a conversation in the studio felt like a distant possibility. . Instagram says my caption is too long, which sucks. All of this is to say…thank you to everyone who has worked with me, and to everyone who has been a friend. Once again, the time has come for me to share this image with you. This cursed, nostalgic vision depicting yours truly, thoroughly clad in aquatic embarrassment on the streets of NYC at age 11 - preserved eternally in the very moment wherein it became clear to me that I would be boarding a float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with the one and only Lou Bega. My dad used to design and build floats for the parade, which meant that a good chunk of my childhood Thanksgivings were spent riding such objects up and down the spectacle’s annual route around midtown Manhattan. . I hope you’re all able to eat something that you enjoy today, to fight the good fight with your families, if they are bigots. Please educate yourselves about the indigenous people on whose land you currently stand. Give “Mambo No. 5” a good ol’ listen for your friend Cait. . . . . . #macysthanksgivingdayparade #macys #loubega #mambono5 #fish (at Manhattan, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWtECiSrDwi/?utm_medium=tumblr

Today marks one full week since I settled into my quarters here at the @peterbulloughfoundation artist residency. I sort of can’t believe I have access to such a spacious, light-filled studio. Truly honored to be here with @kitsch_witch, my extraordinarily smart, hilarious, and kind collaborator, and grateful to be sharing a space with the wonderful @sjacksonopoku. Excited to explore more of Winchester in the coming weeks, especially because it is allegedly the apple capital of the world 🍎 (at Winchester, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWqs45hLqc0/?utm_medium=tumblr

Today is the very last day to catch DIRTY MIRROR, the exhibition at @secondstreetgallery that the amazing @dance_doyle and I collaborated on and developed over the last year. @kristennevermore and the Second Street Gallery staff have been some of the most supportive and encouraging gallery personnel I’ve ever worked with, and I have never stopped feeling incredibly lucky to have have a chance to work on this show with an artist as fiercely talented as Dance. Thanks to everyone who stopped by! . The works pictured here are part of a growing series of traumatic decorative cushions 🤡 I started working on them at the start of the pandemic, when my body and the objects in my home began to feel indistinguishable, and any respite spent laying my head down transformed into a chaotic swirling nebula of traumatic memories. There is a legacy of sewing homemade, appliqué cushions in my family, so these are an allusion to that, merged with the obsessive fixations that chronically pollute my brain. . . . . . #handmade #interiordesign #decor #crochet #crochetersofinstagram #crochetart #fiberart #fiberartist #fiberartnow #textileartist #velvet #pillowlace #diyhomedecor #newcontemporaryart #fibersculpture #artinstallation #installationart #sculptureart (at Second Street Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CWddyyyLbIy/?utm_medium=tumblr

My concept of time had evolved into a distorted husk of what it once was - it’s somehow nearly October and the opening of my two-person show with my amazing friend and collaborator @dance_doyle is just around the corner! DIRTY MIRROR opens this Friday 10/1, 11-7pm at @secondstreetgallery in Charlottesville, VA. @kristennevermore of Second Street Gallery has been such a supportive and thoughtful curator to work with. I’m so excited to show you guys what Dance and I have been working on! . Dirty Mirror is a collaborative exchange between two fiber artists who utilize meticulous, hyper-detailed, and self-taught practices profoundly rooted in time-honored craft techniques, as tools to bring order to their respective worlds and contend with trauma, mental illness, and addiction. Through the use of fibers, the artists provide glimpses into hidden universes that relay the simultaneous destruction and growth of matter. Doyle’s labor intensive, autobiographical tapestries depict subjects, occasionally with their skeletons exposed, situated in distorted cityscapes. These environments transition from one to the next as the eye is drawn downward, similar to a cross-section of the earth’s layers, revealing painstakingly detailed renderings of buildings, objects, and interactions between figures. McCormack’s complex networks of hand-wrought fiber sculptures, evocative of taxonomical specimens and fossils unearthed in the soil, posit traumatic experiences as interactions between the remains of decaying organisms stumbled upon in the woods. The juxtaposition of the expressive figures in Doyle’s urban narratives with McCormack’s intricate depictions of organic systems at work forms a dialogue in which each artist’s imagery provides insight into the other. This exhibition is generously sponsored by Daniel & Rosemary Chiacchia. #textileart #fiberart #fiberartist #tapestry #weaving #weaversofinstagram #crochet #crochetart #crochetartist #fibersculpture #textileartistsofinstagram (at Second Street Gallery) https://www.instagram.com/p/CUXgLTFL13L/?utm_medium=tumblr
