Everytime Malleus appears in stories we get a little confirmation that he cares for the player in a special way and it's amazing. 🙈

I mean you could argue that it's because they're friends. Yeah by itself it's amazing that they're friends who care for each other, but because his default personality isn't really the affectionate type, just a hint of him going out of his way to show favor towards Yuu really stands out in the game. It feels much more intimate than say, the other first years showing care for each other or the i-love-everybody characters who don't show bias towards anyone.

That, and the fact that Malleus is obviously designed to look like classic love interests in fiction. It's easy to see that the writers really intended his affection for Yuu as a ship tease! He gets an intimate moment everytime he appears as a card in an event: among many others him specially picking Ramshackle during the first Halloween and getting mad that the guests are bothering Yuu, him jumping injured to save Yuu so they wouldn't get hurt in Glorious Masquerade, and now him setting aside his pride to save the kidnapped Yuu as soon as possible in TNBC event.

It's just amazing. They're really having him play the love interest role as much as they legally could, within the constraints of this not being a romance game.
