Hiccup/Anna - Sailing Through the Seven Seas Moodboard

Probably my favorite Hiccanna story ever, and the best way to describe it is that it’s the anti-The Chief and His Princess. One has a pure long distance friends to lovers dynamic that goes through so many kinds of trials before they eventually tie the knot towards the end. Meanwhile this one is the complete opposite, with a ton of lying and deception on Anna’s end.

This story is purely based on the song: The Whiskey, The Liar, The Thief by Patent Pending. Hiccup is the son of the most famous pirate of his time, Stoick Haddock, and knows how to trick anyone to get what he wants. While Anna is a princess that hates being one and sneaks out of the castle all the time as her alternate persona: The Vixen.

Their paths cross at Oaken’s Tavern when Hiccup is supposed to be passing through Arendelle before making his way towards DunBroch, but happens to meet Anna instead. (Who only came to get drunk to unwind from the news of three suitors of different kingdoms coming to compete for her hand.) They end up hitting it off, having a one night stand, but even after Anna leaves the morning after, the two just can’t seem to stay away from one another. Even if it puts Anna’s disguise at risk.

Anna and Hiccup are very different from their canon selves in pretty much every sense of the word. While I do love their canon counterparts, I also think it’s interesting to try different things with these characters, especially if one version of the character (like pirate Hiccup) may not fit with another version of their love interest (mermaid Anna). It keeps things interesting, I like to think.

Okay, I’m gonna say something that may make the Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons fandom very mad at me. But it is how I feel and I won’t be quiet any longer!

I don’t think Jack Frost is really that hot. Never have, if I’m being completely honest. I love the boy, don’t get me wrong, he’s a great protagonist! But for me, I only ever wanted to give him a hug, but never really saw what made everyone think he’s one of the hottest animated guys.

I always thought Hiccup in HTTYD2&3 and Tadashi Hamada were wayyyyyyy more attractive than Jack ever was. Or maybe I’m just hot for nerds 🤣

I’m rereading the Harry Potter series again and currently on Chamber of Secrets. But man, do I love the Weasley siblings. Minus Percy, he’s a stick in the mud. But the oldest are fun and I’d love for them to be my brothers. Fred and George are, well, Fred and George. They’re iconic for a reason. Add in Ron and Ginny, then you’ve got the ultimate big family.

I think that house-elves could have worked in a way, but the framing and execution made it confusing and off-putting. So I thought of 3 different ways (not all at once, instead just three different routes) that house-elves could have been written that wouldn’t have been as unsettling.

1) Actually depicted the slavery thing as bad.

Hermione was basically made fun of for advocating for house-elves’ freedom, and multiple house-elves (besides Dobby) actually WANTED to stay enslaved. This was pretty icky, and whether or not they are based off of the Transatlantic Slave Trade or not, it had bad historical connotations. Perhaps it should be actually portrayed as bad.

In this version, only rich purebloods tend to have house elves (Hogwarts would simply hire them), and other characters like Ron and Harry would agree with Hermione, she would simply be the most passionate about it.

That’s basically it for that. Just portray it correctly.

2) Connect them to their origin folklore.

House-elves are based off of Brownies, a creature in Scottish folklore, and they are actually pretty interesting. Apparently, Brownies aren’t really slaves, they are just really dedicated to their house. They have a connection to it, and are actually quite picky. They also might change houses if the home owner annoys them. Giving them clothes is basically evicting them.

Maybe just show it like that, but Dobby was cursed in some way, and can’t leave unless he gets kicked out like that. That way, his story line can still work and some characters will make more sense, like the house-elf in the Black’s house. He doesn’t give a crap about the people, he just cares about his house.

Also, get rid of the Hermione thing entirely.

3) House-elves intentionally (and magically) swear loyalty to people

So I made up some of my own lore that would keep most things in the books the same (even the Hermione thing), but make it much less gross whilst explaining certain things. Basically, in my version, house-elves aren’t exactly slaves. Instead, house-elves are simply very loyal, and have an intense desire to help others.

They often need a “master” or leader of some sort, basically a boss. So if they find a family that they deem worthy of their loyalty, they may ask to swear loyalty to said family. The will make some sort of magical oath type thing that will bind them to the family and they will follow that family’s orders. It really is more of a follower type thing then a slave thing, but the house-elves choose to be binded to a family. You know how Dobby was extremely dedicated to protecting Harry and basically wanted to serve him? It’s like that, but also using a spell that declares that house-elf a “servant” of that person or family.

Unfortunately, Dobby choose a bad family by mistake, thinking that they were trustworthy. But they abused that trust and his loyalty. He eventually wanted to leave, but his oath prevents him from doing so. The only way to break the oath is through the clothes thing.

So the theme of that would be more about loyalty and trust, how people can use it against you, and how sometimes doing the right thing can be most important.

Also, get rid of the Hermione thing in this version.

So those are potential routes you could take house-elves.

Now, I would say that this is all just small suggestions and I think JKR is still a good writer (other than this and like, a lot of other stuff), but I kinda hate her, so actually this is made of hate and malice.

Figuring Skating AU - WinterPrince/Jans Moodboard

No, I don’t have a name for this au yet, but it’s the first proper “main story” I’ve ever had for these two. Which is funny, as they’ve been with me almost as long as Hiccanna 🤣 But this might be my most indulgent “I prefer winter for all these tropes and here’s why:”.

Anyways, the story here is: Jack is a talented and overconfident figure skater, which ends up being his undoing when he gets into a bad accident at the biggest competition of his career. A year later, he’s bored out of his mind in his hometown and has been skating at the local rink. Which is where he meets disgraced and under-the-radar Hans Riddle. The two of them decide to team up as a pair to build both their reputations back up. But when Jack’s rival, Elsa, reveals something about Hans’ past, it could destroy this blossoming romance between two “professional” partners.

This idea originally came about as a side plot in my Hiccanna college AU, where they meet at the ice rink while Jack is practicing. But I ended up removing that as Hans is pretty scummy and did something pretty harsh towards Anna that it would make no sense for Jack (a friend of Anna’s and Hiccup’s roommate) to develop feelings for the guy that only dated Anna on a dare despite being gay. But I still liked their meeting, so developed this idea instead.

I love More Than Anything a lot, but it's more for sadder reasons. (Although it's genuinely beautiful song)

This whole moment between Lucifer and Charlie is what I wish my mom and I could have. Where she realizes how much my dreams mean to me, to finally feel seen by her. When Charlie says: "I've been waiting, wanting the same thing" after Lucifer sings about wanting to know her better. It's what I've dreamed of happening for me and my mom for the last 7 years.

But unfortunately, even when I played the song for her...She doesn't even notice how emotional it makes me. Or even listens to the lyrics, after I told her to pay attention. And it's what made me realize that we will never have this moment. Because everything else is more important, more important than me.

Hiccup x Anna - The Chief and His Princess

Last, but certainly not least, is my “magnum opus” of stories and of course it’s with Hiccanna. I’ve shipped these two for a decade and have had this story in mind for nine of those years. I just happened to watch Brave one day, take the arranged marriage aspect of it, and made this its own thing.

Hiccup and Anna here are in an arranged marriage and have happened to be each other’s best friends since childhood. This keeps a lot of elements of both of their franchises in tact, while adding a bunch of its own stuff as a crossover.

I’m currently working on this story as we speak and I hope you guys are willing to check it out. For some reason, Tumblr won’t let me hyperlink it from my phone, so I’ll add it to the post later.

Well, considering that the Broadway Musical that was on at the same time had Flounder have a crush on Ariel, it could’ve come from that. Not saying that is what happened, but wouldn’t put it past Disney.

Snow White | Red Shoes x Rapunzel - Trapped Under the Same Spell

I haven’t done anything with SnowPunz on Tumblr in awhile, but I’ve come to change that! Because I still love these soft fairytale sapphics!

Their “main story” is basically a combination of their two movies, only Rapunzel decides to leave the tower on her own and ends up running into a disguised Snow as Red Shoes, who’s currently on the run from her stepmother. Snow is looking for her missing father, while Rapunzel just wants to experience real freedom outside of her towers. (Little do either of them know that Gothel and Regina, Snow’s stepmother, are in cohorts and looking for them both)

I have a knack for following flf crossover ships way more than most mlm crossover ships. (I have one, but I don’t get inspiration for WinterPrince as much as my other ships) Besides, Red Shoes and Tangled have similar artstyles, along with probably the same animators, so they probably go together best out of most CGI crossovers.
