I’m not a fan of something until I’m drawing angsty comics of the tall lanky ones. So of course I had to draw the tumblr man.

I have a headcanon that Jax was a teenager when he joined and has been in the circus for years. Also Gooseworx said Jax receiving a ton of praise would ‘concern and frighten him’. So I took that and ran with it.

Okay, so like, I genuinely think that in this scene:

Jax truly thinks this, he truly thinks Gangle likes when he's mean to her. He doesn't have his snarky smile and he doesn't sound sarcastic, it's like he's stating what he thinks is a fact.

So why does he think Gangle likes him being mean? Because she doesn't react the same way Zooble or Ragatha reacts. Those two show obvious anger and stand up against him. They call him out on his bull and don't just take his bullying lying down. He doesn't stop, but it's probably because he knows they won't let him go too far.

Gangle doesn't do this. She's too shy and timid (submissive and agreeable) to do so. But Jax's brain doesn't see it as that. His brain is working on "if, then" statements (like Undertale's dialog). Since Gangle doesn't react with the same anger and push back as the others, he genuinely thinks she doesn't mind and/or likes it. Now, if she does is up to interpretation, but it explains Jax's thinking. He's basing what he thinks people like and don't like off of their reactions, and since Gangles react is so compliant, he thinks she doesn't mind/likes it.

Please forgive my self indulgence for a moment and listen to my headcanon!!

I really like the idea that Jax likes to provoke Ragatha on purpose, because he feels like her anger is the only thing where he can tell she is being 100% genuine.

When Jax asked for an apology here, he was obviously just teasing her, and if Ragatha had apologized for blowing up on him, it's obvious she wouldn't have meant it. Jax knows that Ragatha isn't sorry for that. However Ragatha didn't apologize for that. She apologized for bringing up "that thing earlier", as in, for bringing up Ribbit. That apology was definitely genuine, else Ragatha wouldn't have apologized for that, since it's already been some time since the incident. If she was going to give a disingenuous apology, it wouldn't have been for that.

And I think Jax realized it too. That Ragatha was being genuine here, and that's why he reacted like that. I hope we get to see the two of them talk it out.

I really love Ragatha and I want her happy, genuinely happy :)

I feel like no one talks about how there is a chance Jax could be close to abstracting. For one, Kinger does say “the worst thing you can do in this world is make someone feel unwanted” and well…Pomni is the only one that actively makes Jax feel wanted—and yeah, he’s a dick, so it’s not like it’s undeserved, but it still stands a point. Jax has pretty obviously become less energetic as the episodes go on, and the whole being overridden for an episode (becoming vegan) definitely knocked into him. I mean, he’s a fan favorite so fair enough that he’ll probably be fine, but it’s interesting to think of how he could very well abstract soon.

(First off, this isn't my original idea, idk who i read this from) So it actually makes a lot of sense why Jax doesn't curse. A lot of what Jax does is to give himself the illusion of control. He's a menace because he can be. He breaks rules and is awful because he can be. He's this way because he's not supposed to act this way, meaning that he has control. But cursing is one of the things that has a hard set limit. You curse, you get censored no matter what. It breaks the illusion of control. So he doesn't curse at all.

I like to think that he always had this habit of trying to feel in control, but it wasn't that bad until he lost Ribbit (his abstracted friend). Death (that's basically what abstraction is for the digital circus) can really make you feel out of control, so Jax leaned extra hard into trying to feel in control. Which included taking pranks too far, being crueler, prioritizing his need for control over others need for a friend. I don't think when the series started and when Ribbit abstracted has that much time in between (I've been headcanoning that it's only been 3 months), so Jax was still un the depths of this behavior when Pomni joined. It explains why it seems like the other aren't entirely used to Jax behavior quite yet. They kinda expect it, but they don't know the motions of it yet. And now, with Pomni, he's kinda chilling out. I know things are gonna get worse before they get better, but I'm excited to see how Jax gets better.

Figured I'd tally up the amount of swears that have happened in The Amazing Digital Circus so far... Pomni's panicked test-swears at the beginning definitely skew it but here we go :)

Also I'm shocked there was no swearing in the McDonalds lmao, how do you go working in customer service a whole day without doing that at least once

Why is it behind her desk where family photos usually go and why is it the only picture of another member? He also looks so dumb (affectionately)

Jax definitely put that there in my opinion- if he had time to give character sheets and put up a baby head lamp, he had time to do that.
